Nice review Chris. Always liked this era of Mercedes. People comment on how big steering wheels used to be...but the wheel didn't block the instrument cluster.
Good overview of this nice early W123. Almost same as mine, but my 1977 230 is in color 'gelb' (yellow) with bamboo color interior. I love the 230 m115 engine , solid, reliable , and the power is enough to join modern traffic. I use it almost like a ´daily driver', incredible for a 47 year old car.
The early W123 203s are interesting cars. I have a 78 230 which is extremely rare here in the states. Mercedes only sold them for one model year here. I also own an 83 300D, and it's interesting to see the similarities and differences between the two. The 230 is as base of a car as you can get where the 300 has power everything.
The Mercedes-Benz W123 absolutely love these Mercedes-Benz because this particular Mercedes-Benz W123 is 45 years old and l noticed a couple of amenities that means this Mercedes-Benz W123 will be around in another 45 years after all it is a very luxurious car because all Mercedes-Benz W123 are so reliable and reliability is a luxury
The clock and no rev counter isn’t so much poverty spec as an indication that the car in pre-83. After that you would have had a combined rev counter and clock. L won’t let it go beyond 2nd, and S, beyond third. S is nice for zooming up sweeping hills at a fair clip, and L is quite good for coasting downhill and not having to brake too much. Great review of a great car.
The W123 was replaced by the W124, surely? Later to become known as the as the E-Class. The 190 W201 slotted in below and was later to become the C-Class.
A friend of mines dad had one of these in the 80s. He got rid of it because everytime he parked up, someone would knock on the window and ask,' Are you a taxi ,mate???
Nice video. The 123 was replaced in 1985 by the 124. The 190 was a new body that came out in 1982 to go against the 3 Series.
My Dad had one and then I had the next one after that. It was simply the best car I ever owned. In every respect. Superb.

Excellent. The 280E was the one to have though. 185 bhp or so gave it very lively performance and the handled and rode superbly.

Gorgeous car
Love the 123 Coupe versions. And back when Mercedes were built like tanks, and built well!

Love your films . The w123 was replaced by the w224 . The 190 was a whole new caragory❤
W124 replaced the W123. The 190 aka W201 was a rival for the BMW 3 series
No doubt these models were the best ever manufactured by Mercedes.
Would love a diesal 123 wagon

Even the 280E didn’t have a rev counter as standard on the earlier models.
