My guess...over 200mph... by a little. Which is amazing for an RC heli. Beautiful thing to watch though...and as always.. awesome flying... she likes to drain batteries quick that's for sure.
@@steveblackbird your guess is very close! It’s definitely over 200mph! It’s a beautiful helicopter, flys amazing and tracks like an arrow. It sure does! 2 minutes flights is it! Almost 400 amps at full power.
You can buy 2” thick precast pads various squares. I bought one from ACE Hardware. Use it for landing outside a garage door. Heavy but cost effective. Recess flush into ground.

@@nathankendall3467 it’s insane! It sounds even crazier in person. It’s so loud! It’s very fast! Only to get faster with each flight. Last weekend it went a little faster and I know there is more left in it!
Speed helicopter sound like nothing else! It is definitely scary to fly even for me, especially at this speed and it being a custom built helicopter makes it even more nerve-racking to fly lol
I’ve definitely thought about using plywood! Is half-inch strong enough or flat enough? I should say? I’m trying to talk to local Club into letting me pour a little 24 x 24 pad.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 They should have a concrete pad so that heli pilots have a designated area for themselves. I use half inch because anything thinner might warp and twist over time in damp conditions. I also drill holes in each corner of the plywood so I can pin it down into the soil with large nails. 😁
So unfortunately there is only me and two other guys who fly helis so they “don’t see the need” but I’m working on it! I think I got them to let me do something. I’m thinking about maybe half inch plywood that I fully fiberglass and steak into place?
Jeff not really sure how fast 💨 but it sounds amazing 🤩 and cinematography was the best ever, the camera 🎥 operator gets the first place 🥇 honorary medal.😊
@@westhobbiesrc8051 Well, my original guess was going to be 208 and that was my gut feeling watching the video. I'm changing my guess to 208mph. Either way Jeff; what.....the.......f$#'k??????? It's a RC helicopter, not an F-22!!!🤣
Man this thing is fast! I just got a pair of Liperair 7S batteries, so now I"m running 14S in my Comet. I don't have anything on your Evo, but maybe I can catch your yellow Comet. I will say-- so far, so good with the Xblade 715s on mine. I haven't had any of the stability issues that plagued you with those blades. I'm running bone-stock Comet with no mods to the airframe, Ikon2HD. It gets a bit touchy at high speed, but that's more in my hands than anything inherent to the helicopter. I was amused that you sniffed out that it was me asking BK about that Hobbywing ESC. I guess there probably aren't too many guys working on Comets these days.
14s is perfect for a stock comet. Remember, the yellow comet is the exact same power set up and mechanics. Now that I have the EVO dialed in I’m gonna spend time dialing that in as well. It should be every bit as fast as the Evo maybe a little slower but it’s the same design just 300 g heavier. When I was running icon, I never had problems with the 715s either. I don’t have problems with them on my Diablo just on the comet with the V bar. You will run into a lot of pitch up the faster you go. Especially because you can’t tune it out with iKon like you can with V bar, which is the main reason I switched. Tail fins are critical for stable flight at higher speeds. They help lock the tail at that position that you set. Anther reason I designed my own skid as anther flying surface.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 for sure. I'm also running the stock non-retract gear. Not sure if it helps with stability since it's pretty close to the center of rotation for the fuselage, but it's simple and light. I'm running pretty much zero gyro on the tail for speed flight. Those big vertical fins keep it much straighter than my eyeball+gyro could
You can definitely warm them up. I might try it next time out just to see if there’s any power difference. There is still power left in the motor around 5000 W or so I can go more. I wouldn’t overcharge them because I’m already running such a high voltage.
