on board the fastest RC-Jet ever

- This is the plane I tried to improve my Guinness World record for the fastest RC-Jet with in 2016.
The plane is a design by Christoph Meier, Tunc Uzun and myself.
It is powered by a Behotec JB180 turbine engine which is manually started. It has no starter.
The max speed is 750 Km/h.
The plane is already in this video: • 744 KMH 462 MPH THE WO...
The camera is a Mobius Action Camera V3 with lens D.
For the ones who think that the video is a accelerated version:
the date and time in the lower corner is made by the camera for you. So it is NOT a fake!!
The flights where done during the Pulse Jet Meeting 2017 at the Airfield Rothenburg / Germany.
that climb rate is insane :D
Eric Sales bet you’re fun at parties
06:43 *OMG*
most jets are not able to vertical climb a long time they are totally the reverse of rockets ... those are good for vertical climbing, there Engine are made for it ... plane rely on there wings ... to be Carburant/time efficient so there engine (turbojet) are not efficient for vertical climb
ok its irrelevent xD i miss read the genious of eric
@Eric Sales no shit
this is holy ghost that fly the jet in jesus name.
Now all this needs is a 4g LTE mod for unlimited range and it would be the coolest RC jet out there.
uh what
@@jm036 Could you expand your question?
There is definitely some videos of people flying their RC Plane above the clouds, but I don't think they are using cell networks for that.
@@Reth_Hard Cell networks are very convenient because there are cell towers everywhere nowadays and you could fly extremely far, until you're out of fuel. I saw a video of a guy flying an RC plane from one island to another in Hawaii.
@@Convolutedtubules not in Germany
This is ridiculously amazing!
Thanks for the ride, 11/10 would watch again xD
Thanks.
I know this is way late, but I had an idea on how to extend the control range. Signal repeaters like they use for WiFi or Bluetooth. Install them at each end of the airfield, plus if local properties will let you, on their properties. That would I'd think more than double your range, maybe even triple.
The view is so awsome to look at
What's the G-force on that thing?
I would love to see a mini RC thingy going to space and back, should technically be cheap?
Maxim Teleguz I would imagine the size of the fuel tank needed to be increased drastically. At least if we consider the edge of space being the 100km mark. It's a long way up...
And it would need oxygen
How can u even drive this thing? :-) Do u have the camera connected to the remote?
You should put both video side by side.
Very cool

what?
I dont know why but I want to see this thing hit the ground at 450mph just to see how much damage it will do to the plane and the ground
This sounds like screaming when it's flying.
I have seen the same video on which other people on ground are filming
that's the best "white noise" I've ever heard
It's pink noise.
I have the same Möbius camera on my motorcycle helmet, but my rate of climb is nowhere near that pink beast. Life is not fair!

All the grass behind the engine is dead... lol
Not dead, just "cooked leaves"...lmfao
Including crispy fried yummy bugs lol
Technically, not *all* the grass behind it is dead. Just what's in the path of the exhaust
If you turn it all the way up and use head phones there's a secret message
Chicken Strips, Very funny.
😂😂😂
And what did it say
Jessica Keller it said fuck your ears that's what it said
Jessica Keller are you really that thick that you didn't get he was trolling? like he was not even trying to be that ninja
THAT is INSANE-ly awesome! I did not expect to see it land and take off from grass. I have no idea how you kept your eyes on this thing traveling sooooo fast. I'm astounded, thank you for sharing, this guy will stay with his P4Pro... I can control that thing, this is WAY out of my league. Thumbs UP, amazing.
I hope for him he has FPV, like HOLY SHIT That thing is fast.
10:34 who's flying that rc?
me
TheGhostflier he ment the plane that was passing at the moment lol
Jesus Mercado lol
TheBestPlayerDead that a ufo
Jesus Mercado And I think he was joking
Goemetrical shape and designe of the plane allows it very sharp and stiff dives and manoeuvres. And the speed it has very colossal. The thing is not even twitching with those high speeds.Remarkable work and job. Astonishing. :)
On a model it's good, on a large aircraft the shape would make low speed (landing/take off) very dangerous and difficult to control.
Amazing, prob some Aerospace engineers
it's just the engine in my opinion.... mostly the aerodynamics are irelavant at speed just like early jets... he just needs the bare minimum lift with as low drag as possible and then if you use a bigger engine you get faster.... it's more like a rocket than an aeroplane in some ways, the wings just get it into the air
Flame out going on or out of fuel? Bad ass plane. I would suggest it has military applications.
I want to see max altitude combined with max thrust dive. Perhaps it could hit 500 knots! I salute your pilot skill and your hobbyist love for aviation! Never stop sir!
Thank you.
It has fuel for only 1 1/2 minute 100% thrust, 1.4 litres. Then it glides back to the ground.
military requires long flight times, reliability and ruggedness, as well as ease of use. at this point, just call in a frikkin fighter lol. if you think weapon, a missile will do
+TheGhostflier pretty insane scale speed, no wonder hounding of fast lol
+Jan Christian Frodahl and Max altitude would require FPV, which takes space and adds weight. but I want to see it too lol
Calvin Barnett they could install the GoPro app on their phone and get live feed via the GoPro
Now that's cool,, I like it better with the camera pointing backwards you can really see how well this thing climbs !
This is no model, these are no amateurs, but professional experts. I feel that if the camera was under the nose, earth would have been seen better and landing surveillance would have been improved. Congratulations to all involved in this remarkable achievement.
Carmel Pule' I was wondering about this too the visuals being better with the camera in an alternative placement, would it interfere with the aerodynamics maybe if it was anywhere but where tis!
Tony Bates
I think incorporating a small rear camera module into the nose from a smartphone which can be bought on eBay is the best idea. No obstructions.
@@stevess7777 the hell is gonna connect to the smartphone camera?
Google Is Fucking SJW Scum
One way could be the smartphone itself, of course. Smartphones generally are only 100-150 grams, and if you somehow disassemble and then set it up to work as a recorder without a screen, I'd doubt it'd be over 80 grams. Just stick in a USB to export the files afterwards.
@@stevess7777 Cable is too short for that.
Boy, you certainly couldn't fly this one with a hangover!!
I'm happy this holds the record. Most beautiful RC aircraft I've seen, and certainly one of the most elegantly designed of any aircraft, RC or full-scale. You and Cristoph have much to feel proud of! What was the design process like? Did many full-scale aircraft (or aspects of them) serve as inspirations, or was it purely a matter of aerodynamics/engineering from scratch?
Both my wife and I are also very happy that the world's fastest/scariest RC plane is a vibrant fuschia pink. :D Is it primarily for visibility? Plus I am extra impressed at the belly landings/scuffed paint. This aircraft clearly does not need to be perfect or pristine to be able to do insane things.
Thank you.
It is a improved version of the old plane. The design was entirely based for aerodynamics and effiency.
Yes, the day light magenta on top is the best color I have ever seen. So at any time of the flight I see either the magenta on top or black or day light green on the bottom side.
@@TheGhostflierwill you ever share the CAD file? 😢
@@thomasthemarstrain2141 No. But I sell the molds for it. Need to be picked up near Düsseldorf/ Germany.
This thing should have a long range fpv system and then be taken to the Reno Air Race track... Who would not want to see 10 of these competing..Woww it took me on the edge of my couch, :P This is my fpv dream....very nice video!!

Considering the speed it's flying, it land very well, safer than on wheels, I first thought it will land on a parachute.
This needs an fpv camera, I'm sure it could go even faster at higher altitudes
Bohdan Wesely I think he does have fpv on otherwise how is he supposed to see it from so far away
No I don´t. It is just the camera on board.
Even if you watch the video in the description it looks hard to see.
But it easier to see than in the video in real life.

Why has nobody made a RC plane that breaks the sound barrier?
It is not that easy. At a certain Mach number wavedrag will come up and increase significantely. Very difficult to handle.
It'd turn into confetti
Wolf Plato because the shock wave will just rip the plane to shreds
The DS gliders are getting very close... But as said above, very strong airframes and a LOT of power required. These jets aren't even transonic.
Yep. Gliders will probably remain the fastest RC planes for some time.
I'd definitely wear a helmet when flying this thing over my head.
Its all good till you lose sight of it in the sunlight...lol
If it hits you at 750 km/h, thats 160 000 joules in your face, which is about 9 times more than a 50BMG, good luck with the helmet lol
Helmet wouldn't do anything with that size, speed and material density. Even if your skull was protected, it could snap your neck in an instant.
Wendelin Weissbach slows it down when it splits your head in two, duh
Nah, better take shelter instead
Whats a helmet gonna do lmao
Apparently this thing could care less about your human notions of gravity
smuggle the controller onboard an airplane, sit by the window and fly around outside the plane with this ting :P
Lurkens Kanal the airplane engine will suck it in and kill all of you if not at least blow out an engine
Dude it’s now illegal to fly a drone or something in the air that requires signals from a remote near a plane so I suggest not to
Love it, awesome work. However, I got honestly slightly sick while watching in full screen mode. XD
Thank you.
Watch it on a mobile phone or a tablet full screen so that
you can move it around. Try to maintain the horizon level. Then it is
like a game and looks preety cool. Maybe you have to lay your device on a
table so that the movie does not flip around by the automation in the
device.
+TheGhostflier I deactivated auto-tilt on my tablet and now I'm lying in bed thinking I'm actually playing a video game as I keep the horizon level. super fun
+TheGhostflier VR goggles! :D
Jogibaer Seriously?
TheGhostflier you know you can get up to 17% more power from your fuel by using special aluminum or other kind of metal nano particles suspended in the fuel?
I agree with other commentors that flying using a forward looking camera would be nice to extend the range beyond line of sight. However, in the event of any lag in the video stream for even a small fraction of a second could be fatal. All you need then is an on board autopilot flight control system with radar and a gyro inertial nav system to take control in the event of a video stream hiccup.
But seriously, that's a beautiful work of art-science. Now if you could scale it up enough to carry one 175 lb person...🤔
Analog FPV systems only have 20ms of latency because you don't need any time consuming handshakes and other protocol stuff wifi uses.
Ok I just gotta know, 28 dislikes? The video is crystal clear and exactly what the fuck it said in the description. The fuck is wrong with some people. Never happy with anything.
This could easily kill someone. Lotta responsibility there. Nice flyin.

Truly amazing. I can't wait for y'all to break the sound barrier with an RC plane. That IS your goal, isn't it?
@Wendelin Weissbach Not necessarily. Remember, they said that the sound barrier could never be broken and we did it. It's going to come down to building materials and design (as usual), and I think they can do it.
I bet the people with the solar panels have kittens every time this guy flies!!
I loved planes as a kid and still do I'm 31 in 2020 and man, it almost made me cry seeing this, so freaking cool! Deepest condolences to those that have suffered at the hand Co-vid-19 and I still have many more to pray for...

Wow, very intriguing project. I envy you as the US has a speed restriction below 10,000 ft for both full scale and RC aircraft. An FPV flight would be an adrenaline rush with the right equipment. What have you determined the slight wobble to be? Video is a great diagnostic tool.
I'd love to see a long-range journey with one of these. It might be hard logistically, but it'd be cool to see how far you can make the landing site from the takeoff site.
Next Upgrade: HUD
Is it possible to flag a video for being too awesome? Cause this would be it! Video is unreal, but yet it is real. Brilliant! From start to finish people! This is how you make a video. Love all the sound as well. Genius!

Really clever putting the control horns behind the vertical stabilizer. Incredibly brilliant job at being aerodynamic!
Thank you.
the missing paint on the fins is that airflow abrasion? Also noticed a little wobble on yaw, i think that means you could lose some of the fin area, less drag go faster :-)
are you working on a v2 to go faster?
Lovely aeroplane - well done. Shades of Concorde!
I wish the owner can put an additional back camera. or completely 360 Degree camera in both angles. Thank you for this video. I enjoyed alot looking at the back camera than the front. It has more scenery. It looks like I am piloting the aircraft watching in my 80 inches 4k HD OLED TV. :)
u should at meter at the right/left video. my u can do that in next video
ever ever ! in all history 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Isn't there a better place to put the camera, guys? You can barely even see the ground, because it's mostly blocked by the front of the jet.
HowlingMoonCinemas I was thinking that too but watched the other video and noticed it just lands flat so it needs to be on top- plus it needs to be low down for least drag and in the middle means it can see forwards and backwards from the same same camera mount. I would guess this is pretty much the only viable place for it. ( I think...)
Would be really cool to have the camera built into the nose though, maybe behind a mounded plexiglass nosecone?
Perhaps some method of fiber optics to send views from multiple locations and be collated for simultaneously viewing? Also, the individual lenses could be mounted behind a clear and aerodynamic surface to prevent damage, maintain streamlining and give multiple viewing options.
Airborne in under a second and over 1,000 ft in less then 5 seconds and it just keeps amazing me!!!! Bada$$
Thank you for making this video. It is spectacular in the extreme. I have recently got back into model aircraft after a 35 year break, and just started RC. I'm curious as to the air frame materials you used? It would be fun to make a much slower, scaled down version using a EDF setup.
Brilliant work - it must have been a long time in the design, and build!
Welcome.
Fiberglas and carbon fiber, also balsa wood as sandwich material and epoxy resin for sure.
I don´t if EDF would work. if the inlet needs to suck the air from above. Might work better with high angels of attack if up side down.

Absolutely incredible. Thank you so much for putting the camera on the plane, it is a real pleasure for us to watch! I currently have the unofficial fastest FPV plane in the world (gps fround speed 249mph), recognised on this forum: fpvlab.com/forums/showthread.php?20039-Personal-Bests-V5-(LEADERBOARDS). It really would not be a great weight or size expense to equip your plane with FPV, It may not be sensible to fly it via FPV, but the overlayed data on an OSD on the video would be great to see. I have found that my planes reach a much greater 'peak' speed at some moment during the flight, than is measured when trying to get through timing gates. I would think your plane is over 800kmh at some points. Best regards. Rupert.
Thank you.
I will contact you via fpvlab.
But takes a while.
Miguel Ramirez it could... With that engine x2...and a stabilator.

It would be so cool if you could put a 360 camera on the plane, and make it so you could look around!
Glue a wasp to the front .....
The fastest RC jet ever is pink? Odd choice. Easy to see I suppose.
Afterburner I would imagine that's exactly the purpose of couloir
It's red, it just lost color a little or just is the color
it allows him to see its rotation cleary so he knows if its up or down

one day we will have rc model ships with mini warp drives using subspace frequencies instead of radio frequencies.

wow The skill required to do that is impressive. I am an old dog. Probably couldn't live long enough to have that skill.

not impressed. make 1 thats faster than the speed of light
So it travels backwards in time? . I look forward to seeing your video upload which you will upload last week next week.

Unreal. Awesome!
Now all they need is a live camera feed in the CONTROLLER.
Flying this plane LOS is restricting its flight envelope.....You dont have GPS onboard to ascertain Groundspeed? Radar is very unpredictable.
Just follow the link in the description. Speed was meassured with two high speed cameras 1000fpm with a distance of 200 meters. It is extremely precise and shows ground speed only.
I dont doubt how you have measured the speed....but its a question about which part of the flight you recorded...Using an onboard GPS gives a constant speed readout for the ENTIRE flight, not just a small part of it.
Absolutely Fabulous!
Great flying, fantastic video especially the rear views. No doubt this was NOT faked! Way way beyond my league too. Thank you for the chance to watch it.
Well refined project. Well deserved record, congrats.
I wound send it at those solar panels at 750km/h making a nice hole through half of them.
One of them, the rest would get slightly dusty, which is inconvenient.
And thats why people are glad you dont fly these things.
Probably not if you built and paid for it yourself... but then I don't underestimate how crazy people can get.
Same as other joys in life, I like the rear view the best! Aerodynamic drag is doing some serious work on that paint job, it would be interesting to see this jet in a wind tunnel to see exactly what drag forces are causing the paint to wear in certain places. Great video.
I love the sound of turbines, but I hate the price.
*OMG how did the cameraman sit on the jet plane ? 😐😐🤔🤔*

Hey man, that's some incredible footage, it's so clear and smooth you can easily forget how fast that things going, amazing! Nice one.
This is perfectly insane. That speed is the most exhilarating thing I've watched in a long time, the climb-rate is surreal. Not the most discrete for reconnaissance haha, but for that this could fly really really high with 4G. I hope Al Qa'ida won't build a hundred of these (I seriously doubt they have the skill...), it would be difficult to EMP them all. Fuel can't last for long though?
They can't even fire a mortar without blowing up themselves
@@sigmamale4147 Seems that way, haha. I'd say it wouldn't be very tactical of them. Even if they manage to build a scruffy looking RC jet-fleet they'll likely instantly have several real-size top of the line military drones up their asses. More worried some of those might end up in their hands eventually. Incompetence seems to rule though.
