  • Did you know our furry four-legged friends can have a positive impact on diabetes management? Drs. E+P bring in some very tiny guests to this episode (including Dr. E's pet bunny Wilbur) to illustrate six ways dogs, cats, and other pets can make diabetes a little less ruff. Learn how pets can offer emotional support, encourage physical activity, create routines, detect hypoglycemia, enhance social interaction, and teach responsibility. There are still so many ways to improve diabetes control...there are lots of other options out there! Here are a few articles on emotional support and stress management:

Finding a workout buddy can also be great to help with exercise and fulfilling social connections. If you haven't yet joined a diabetes online community, they can be great places to share ideas and connect with others going through similar experiences. We have our own groups here:

and there are lots of other great groups online as well. We know not everyone is able to have a pet, but we sure are grateful they can offer some unexpected benefits to help with diabetes. :)
