Lately with taku leaving the bay for bigger adventures, I couldn’t help but think taku is living the best life. Then I see Jocelyn at 5:50 sitting in the background sipping wine made me realize “no, Jocelyn DEFINITELY the one living the best life.” 👍😂
The amount of work to film and edit a one hour video does not go unnoticed, I’ve edited a few 20 min ones in the past and it took me like 2 hours!! I could only imagine the hours put into this. Thanks Taku!!
Videos like this make me so happy I’ve been following the journey and when you quit you’re job I bought the same hoodie you’re wearing in this video. Seeing you cast out in the morning at the beautiful spot makes me so proud I’m able to be a microscopic piece to this adventure. Opportunity well spent Taku & Jocelyn
Love your stuff guys! My son is in NZ for two years, he is in Wellington. I sent him your fishing vids in NZ. He loves fishing. Thank you, and all the best on your fishing adventure!
seeing the footage of you guys driving around new zealand sends back so many memorys. back in 2011 two friends and i fly to NZ, converted a van and traveled around for a year. i freaking miss those days for sure! i wish you a unforgattable time in NZ, amazing people and beautiful country all around!
Terrific viewing. You make a fishing day very enjoyable to watch. Blue cod 💙, Kahawai and yes 💙 Kingfish that you will eventually drag in and cook up a treat. Or sashimi. Our first of Kingfish we ate 4 different ways. Your Blue cod dish 💙 looked SUPERB. ESPECIALLY the dishing up with Korean pancake. Bon appetite friendly healthy couple. Gorgeous.😊😊😊😊😊
I hope you guys are going to come back soon after this is all done. I've been here all my life but have rarely gone exploring. Its great seeing a different side to the country i call home.
Off the remainder of the week for spring break and first thought I had to kick it off was waiting for TaKu’s next video to watch to start it off right. Much respect from NC. You are amazing at what you do.
I don’t know why but watching you cook and enjoy a tasty meal together is always a joy. Watching you be so successful fishing was a rare treat. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, nice view from the drone. Sorry to see you missed catching the Kingfish. Hopefully you'll get a good one next time. That fishing spot looks nice with the lighthouse in the background. I can just sit there all day (from sunrise to sunset) eating, chilling, playing games on my phone or portable gaming device.
Love your shows im a 75 year old kiwi fisherman hunter gathera ex chef learning alot on your cooking skills i wished i had found your channel earlier i live in taupo would have invited you guys to stay and take you trout fishing and over to the bay of plenty fishing hope you visit again subscribed and following you both please come back
New Zealand looks incredible. Thanks for putting so much time and effort into sharing your adventures with us. You've come along since I subscribed... 7? 8? Years ago. Crazy.
Taku I was worried for you when you went swimming at the French Pass. It is notoriously dangerous and has claim many lives over the years. It’s pretty much where the oceans collide hence the currents. Take care in NZ, some of our beach’s and bays can catch you out.
Long time viewer. Thank you so much! My daughters class had to dissect a fish and filet it to cook. My daughter knew how to filet the fish because she had been watching you since she was 11 years old. Got an A.
I love this channel. One of the best on youtube. I only have one opinion, that is not exclusive to Taku. IMO, so many go fishing with underrated gear. I love light tackle, especially for sport fishing. If I want to make sure I land dinner, I gear up. I think so much comes down to rod sensitivity. I've caught (and released) a half pound whiting, then landed a 35 pound drum on the same setup. Nothing different at all on the rod, reel and line. The rod sensitivity makes all the difference.
Love it chef enjoy that outdoor life may god bless u guys on all you’re adventures as u have blessed me blessed us all with the showing of the ventures truly appreciate the time and effort u display in the videos u share with us u got me back out on the other side of the door in the great outdoors so thank u for that the inspiration and the rejuvenated now how brought me back to me and what I have grown up doing I am almost 30 now come September and I have taken about six years off the outdoors and watching u guys out there inspired me to get back out there to what I love so just wanna say thank u one mo gin u dat man lovin it guys safe travels and may the odds be forever in you’re flavor 😂❤❤❤❤
Hi Taku, I enjoy watching your fishing videos. I am based in Auckland and used to fish a lot. There are a couple of places in west Auckland called Whatipu and Muriwai that I went before. Always wanting to go back fishing there. The only thing is that you have to wait until low tide to get to those area. There are a few hours of fun/excitement haha.
Well, I was slavering watching you and Jocelyn consuming the fruits of your labors combined with your cooking expertise & embellishments. Wishing you both safe travels & enjoyment.
OMG I just got to the Cormorant part! So charming! I love those birds they are probably my favorite animal on the whole planet. Some species have been seen diving up to 45 meters (150ft)
0:58 It used to be that way in the US. Long long time ago at a Sinclair far far away (just down the block). After full service went away, I remember gas stations mostly operating with a pump first pay later scheme. Then yeah enough people stole gas that it ended. lol It was cash/credit prepay for a while then the pump scanners came along.
I love cormorants so I was definitely happy you gave one a little snack. So cool to see how fast they are underwater (that’s why they ride low when they are on the surface, they are made for diving and underwater swimming). What a cool video!
Shoulda grabbed that tail like you meant it, I feel for you until I remember that you're living a life like I will never get to experience. Love you guys.
I feel nostalgic watching you use Temuka ware as a dipping plate. I grew up with it, born in NZ. Come and visit Melbourne Australia next ? Loving your NZ tour xx
Why does that kimchi look like it was dyed a bright orange lol. also 58:45 is a cute cheers hahaha. you both are living the dream. I'm glad I get to live through watching your videos. I will most likely never go to those places so it's awesome that I can see it on your channel.
Thank you for filming. Those Kingfish are quite the elusive fish, every failure to land the fish will make even more gratifying when you finally catch one! The dynamic between Taku and the Kingfish could be captured in a great anime! lol.
I have to say bro.. I’ve been watching you since about 63k subs. What you done is so amazing.. your videography has just became insane over the last couple years. Your doin it right brother!
Another great video Taku. But you need to come to the Bay of Plenty! I too am on the hunt for my first kingie. I'm going to Ohope holiday park in a couple of weeks time to try and get one. They frequent the channel into the harbour often. Also, the lakes around Rotorua are renowned worldwide for their trout fishing! Holla if you come up this way ✌️
Hey Taku. Just wanna say that your pronunciation for the fish kahawai is awesome my dude NICE. Hopefully you guys enjoyed your working holiday in New Zealand. Let's go
Hopefully one day you can dive next to a passing trawler and get you a bluefin tuna on a speargun!👍 Also there's a salmon farm somewhere in new Zealand that holds humongous rainbow trout!!😲🤯🎣
Enjoy your stay here Kaikoura is a great representation of fishing in our country so it sucks the weather didnt play ball but in saying that just about anywhere you go in this great country can make for great fishing Enjoying the content hope you get alot more in while you are here
Pump then pay used to be the common practice in the US from the late 1960s on. It died off in the 1990s. It worked pretty well actually. Pumping and dashing did happen, but it wasn't very common.
Oh GUMMON cuzzy, you making me hungry! 😂 Thanks for sharing your cooking style and sharing your techniques. Man…I’m just praying I get to see you catch a Kingfish in your series! Got me hooked cuz!
Always looking forward with your downloads. So entertaining and the food preparations are just the best! Keep exploring and enjoying life. Cheers to all your endeavors.
One essential NZ food you gotta try is the FEIJOA fruit. It's currently Feijoa season. A lot of people have feijoa trees so I never pay for them, but they are available at the supermarket.
Interesting that I find this today. Exactly three years ago to this date, I had a similar trip planned to New Zealand with a stop-over on my outbound in Fiji. Unfortunately my trip was postponed due to the world health crisis. I also opted to rent a Sprinter van with all of the creature comforts, shower, head, stove, fridge etc (Apollo) in order to tour and fish both the North and South islands for those jumbo stream Trout, offshore for pelagic’s and local inshore species. This option provided an excellent opportunity to fish as much of New Zealand as possible each day - without having to return back to a hotel room or Airbnb nightly. The van rental cost back then was actually less expensive than a car and hotel... no brainer. Three questions. #1- where did you rent the van, #2- how were the campgrounds, cost, cleanliness, etc.., and finally #3 - was any of your previously used gear confiscated there at NZ customs on arrival due to potential biohazard ??? Oh, one last note. Kingfish are far better handled by grabbing them by the mouth in that situation!!!
We bought the van, planning to resell. Campgrounds are generally clean. We didn’t have any gear confiscated. And definitely not in the mouth where the lure is with two treble hooks😆
Love the videos that water is beautiful! .Probably the one thing about kayak fishing that scares me the absolute most. And Why I live vicariously through Taku...just from shore or a bigger boat.
Loved the 1 hour episode Tacu! I'm in Vietnam currently and I'm going fishing for GT tomorrow! Hope I can land one! Keep on trying dude, you'll get one!
Great video! I love the New Zealand series but I'm also looking forward to more west coast USA fishing again someday (as a selfish local). Quick question, why did Jocelyn save the eggshells (38:00)? Is it just easier to dispose of all at once, or is there another use for them?
Lately with taku leaving the bay for bigger adventures, I couldn’t help but think taku is living the best life. Then I see Jocelyn at 5:50 sitting in the background sipping wine made me realize “no, Jocelyn DEFINITELY the one living the best life.” 👍😂
Yes and then you see Jocelyn in the background eating Taku's food, I mean come on, not fair.
Correction 5:40 for anyone who wants to witness this hilarious chill moment.
The amount of work to film and edit a one hour video does not go unnoticed, I’ve edited a few 20 min ones in the past and it took me like 2 hours!! I could only imagine the hours put into this. Thanks Taku!!
I enjoy that Taku's interpretation of "No fishing allowed today" is "Just one rod, as long as it's little."
Iirc he almost 'caught' a GT on a kayak, so no surprise he tried to catch a big one (Kingfish) on a kayak again.
1 Hour of OutDoor Chef Life??? Let's goo
That was an hour!?! I rewatched the food prep it was so good !!
I read your comment, I said what an hour? That's awesome
That drone view was amazing. I screen capture and use it as my computer background.
Right !!
Watched it thru the end. No skip ⏭️

I can't tell you how much I'm digging this travel series. This is an epic one!
I want them to BRAND THAT VAN so we could all rent and take the same excursion!
The nine of a million things I love about your channel is the struggle … the clarity is awesome
This channel is gold!
Love your stuff guys! My son is in NZ for two years, he is in Wellington. I sent him your fishing vids in NZ. He loves fishing. Thank you, and all the best on your fishing adventure!
THANK YOU SO VERY VERY VERY MUCH. I HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING FUN.

That dish at the end with the Korean pancakes so mouth watering. Your video makes me hungry all the times 😅😅

Looks delicious! It's so funny to see you two eating; Jocelyn is so civilized, and Taku eats like a rabid animal! Fun! Catch that King!
Thanks you guys . the new Zealand ocean camp sight was beautiful. You guys are so lucky to be there. What great scenery
Stunning views and shots with the drone. Just found this channel a few weeks ago. Amazing youtube channel.
And cheers to you both. Taku, as always thank you for inviting us to your kitchen.

Groooooood video! Could easily have been broken out to 2 videos. And I’d have loved both. This was long but I loved the cook.
Hey Taku. Just wanna say that your pronunciation for the fish kahawai is awesome my dude NICE. Hopefully you guys enjoyed your working holiday in New Zealand. Let's go
That was such a beautiful fishing location. Great video.

Hey now! That fried fish with the cakes looked super good! Corn starch....I've never used it. Thx for another great video!
YOU WON 🎉🎊👆👆🎁
Sorry you lost that one mate! I know how exciting and hard it can be landing a big one on the kayak. Always having a small gaff sure helps!
Never go fishing without a net . I truly enjoy your videos. Travel safe. Eat well and enjoy. ✌️
Still in the hunt, but very entertaining and enjoyable video. Always makes smile in the end. 😀
I am very happy to see you adventure. be careful, friends, the terrain is extreme, I hope the adventure will be fun

Awesome, I think that Kingfish counts as a catch and release. The only thing lacking is your eating it. 👍

I should’ve insisted you take the gaff and net mate. Anyway there’s always the next time when your here.👍🏾
The crunching is insane! I know what I'm making for dinner.❤❤❤
That part when the bird came and ate that little fish you caught had me mindblown. Love the videos watching every week from New Jersey!!!
Pump then pay used to be the common practice in the US from the late 1960s on. It died off in the 1990s. It worked pretty well actually. Pumping and dashing did happen, but it wasn't very common.

WOW! Thank you both for sharing the adventure as well as the pro tips! Inspiring! ;)
Heart breaking😮😮😮 just a tip when you get big fish like that and no gaff or net try paddling to shore! But good try anyway Awesome! 🤙🏽
I think that any kayak fisherman might know that just by common sense.
@@OneOut1 That’s the thing though, not everyone’s a kayak fishermen…
