Khursheed, you'll have to use a larger quantity of kokum to get the same amount of sourness as tamarind, and secondly, the extra kokum will change the colour of the curry. However, in place of tamarind, you could use a mix of kokum and lime juice. And yes, thanks for the appreciation.

So glad you're trying out my recipes, Pervin. There's no exact substitute for tirphal/sichuan peppers. But the nearest could be regular black peppercorns. Add around 15 of them to the curry.
