This sounds amazing! I started eating a lot of oily fish last year because my cholesterol was too high. I'm glad to say the fish worked! My cholesterol is back to a healthy level!
This is mangalorean Catholic traditional fish curry which no doubt originated from Goa. When they migrated from Goa, they brought the technology with them. Now there are many variations in recipes. But still we are longing for this. THANKS.
This looks very similar to Thrissur, Kerala fish curry. What my mother in law makes. 2 differences are we use only kokum instead of tamarind and no cumin. Instead we use fennel seeds
Cook in a earthen pot... In the climax temper with a little curry leaf, small onions in oil & pour it over the prepared fish curry, close, keep aside for some time... Then it will be fantastic, wonderful..
It's similar to our udupi and Mangalore (Karnataka)style fish curry..and here we will also add fenugreek, black peppercorns, mustard and ajwain..yummy 😋
Mackarel curry is made like this only with ingredients in Karnataka and Goa. Other fish curry Garlic not used. Only little ginger. Onion, green chili, fenugreek , cilanthro.
Authentic Goan cuisine with romantic music, feels like heaven in all its divinity ❣️ Keep the Goan culture alive 🙏♥️👌May God protect our State and it's splendid culture.May the Goan crab mentality replace unity and solidarity 🙏🙏♥️
Thank you dearest Thelma!❤️ Yes, our culture has a lot to offer and I hope to do my best to keep it alive :) Thank you for all your support - it keeps me going❤️
Thank you Ma'am for teaching me how to make this tasty Goan mackerel curry. I cooked it just now for tomorrow's lunch , as I was told that any fish/ meat dishes tastes better the next day. It turned out good but I made a mistake on the qty of tamarind to be added .....so a wee bit more sour. I feel dried shark cooked in this tangy, gravy base would be equally good . I did not have the szechuan pepper at home . Must try to get it somehow. Next time. Also I skipped the Kokum rind as I feared that the curry might taste too sour. In North Malabar we use tamarind mostly. Thank you once again.
Very clear content and and step by step instructions..Thank you! Being an islander myself, we cook/ fry fish in various ways..but here I see you've not added any onions?? will try to make this with King fish though👍
Nicely done - especially cutting the fish. Interesting addition of the peppers. In Bengal the fish is always lightly fried with salt and turmeric to reduce the ‘fishy’ smell. And onions and garlic are only added to reduce the smell if the fish is not that fresh.
Wow! Thanks a lot for this. I have got fresh Theppal recently!! I dried it and procured the pepper. Now as i just got this osm recipe, its time i make a curry!
Can you please give me the recipe of Shark Amit tik curry I really appreciate and if possible pomfret caldien too. Sorry for troubling you I look forward to your response soon
Hi Ida, sorry for the delayed response. Here is the link to my Shark fish Ambot Tik recipe. It also has the fried fish recipe :) I had posted it a while ago. Hope you enjoy it! Thank you for your kind words and support ❤️ ua-cam.com/video/ZAMfsZpKf7E/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
Thanks for posting such a wonderful and typical goan fish curry recipe where goan used resources like coconut and tamarind abundant in region and didn’t use oil.
Hi Simonette, yes, one way is to ask some Goan/Konkan relatives, but these are also available online, you’ll have to search if they deliver as per your location :) Thank you for your interest!
Hi, we also make similar as i m grom karqar, karnataka, we only use tamrind small piece, bedgi mirchi and soi, (grated coconut) while grinding and no onion, garlic ginger,, put kokum, teppal, while giving it a boilat last
Yummy receipe for certain. You also got a knack at videography. Aesthetically appealing and with a degree of grace and elegance , is also seen. Last but not the least; is the instrumental CLAUDIA playing in the background, giving a soothing touch, and setting the mood for the evening.
The recipe was indeed very nice plusss the fish cleaning/cutting process and most of all.. fantastic background music on the guitar and the Reed instrument...loved it
This is perfect and proper, authentic recipe of Goan fish curry, many recipes are available and everyone uses oil for the Currys. Whereas Goan fish curry (Marcel) does not have oil. Thank you 👍
Yes, you can try it with any. The only difference, it that the Sichuan pepper is usually reserved for mackerel curry. In my knowledge, Goans would not add Sichuan pepper to other fish curries. Thank you, Maria!
You can easily find them in a spice market or even online now :) They bring a delightful sourness to the curry which is greatly appreciated for a fish curry
@@FlorencyDias I got it from a super store in Delhi and i cooked your recipe, it was very tasty and very easy to cook, best part was it is a oil free fish recipe 👍
