I am so excited to see the retail paint job. It seems everyone who has viewed it has said it is striking. I had a chance to hit the pre-production version at my club a few weeks back and was truly spectacular. I attribute a lot of my enjoyment to the great sound it makes. A slight wistle when swinging and then a sweet pop on impact. I can't wait to order 2 in 2025. Thanks for the great review.
One of my friends saw the new paint job... Said it's gorgeous, very similar to the Wilson Ultra Pro. He said, it's worth it to just get the racquet for the paint job alone. 😅😂. This will be amazing... head actually making a racquet with an amazing paint job.
Thank you for this great review. I've been wanting a Gravity 98 for years! I played with the Gravity Tour 360+, which was a fabulous racquet, especially for baseline and serves..very controlled, still a wide string pattern for am 18x20 for nice spin...but volleys was a bit unstable. I own both the Extreme Tour Auxetic 1 and the current V-Core 98. Both have nice spin, dampened feel and for me, both require stiffer strings than my Gravity Tour. Both have less control than my Gravity Tour 360+. I currently lean towards my Extreme Tour because I have more control with it than the V-Core. I'm super excited to try the Gravity 98...I can't wait!!! And these reviews aren't helping me keep my suspense at bay.
Looks like your quality of play has also improved a lot from the last review Ive seen from you. Thanks for this review, really interested to get to demo this racket!
Excited for this racket. I used the MP for some time but eventually wanted more heft. Tried the Pro but it was too much. I weighted up my MP but it just didn’t feel as solid in the hoop. I’ve wanted something in between with more weight but also something that felt slightly stiffer and more free power.
I hit with this last week and was super impressed with it even with the strings being 40lbs at best lol, Had Hawk touch in it and felt unreal that low lol…One hander was great with it and the forehand felt more connected than anything I’ve ever tried…I like 18x20s so I thought this would be too launchy but I was pleasantly surprised that I only felt a couple shots launch which I get with any racquet hahaha…was able to hit flat with ease and definitely rip spin easy….I’ll definitely struggle to not buy this next year lol, the retail paint job is unreal
@@twistymeeko7377 that's one I haven't tried yet still but really want to...@TennCom has used the whiteout a fair bit so l'd be interested in his thoughts here too
Would you say this is more comfortable than the Ezone 100? The Ezone 100 gave me wrist pain to the point I had to switch to multifilament strings. I have a OHBH, so I’m hoping the Gravity 98 will hit those two marks for me. More comfortable and better for OHBH. I would love to switch back to poly
Wow this is pretty cool! I've just recently gotten a Speed Pro Auxetic 2.0, and I loved the connected feel I had with it at first. However, my RPM Blast started to feel really bad after about 3-5 hours, so what string setups would you recommend? I have a really nice spin and flat forehand, with fast first serve and want something that can elevate that, and be somewhat comfortable, though I'm young enough to where I don't mind it.
Initially I thought this would be the final paintjob and I was disappointed but the hint you gave in the video is giving me REALLY HIGH hopes. Pls be magnificient
Interesting question. My guess is no probably not. I can see a world where there is demand for an 18x20 version though. Maybe we'll see a limited release for that like we've seen the 18x20 Radicals in some markets.
That boom on impact is definitely from the string mostly, RPM Rough is super slippery when new, but also maintains it well over time. Similar sound comes from Hawk Touch and Lynx Tour, both are also very slick and displace super easily, even if you string them super tight. But G98T definitely has a whistle when you're swinging it. Also, small correction - "under *60"
Speaking of the whistle. I was on a TikTok live of a French tennis coach that I follow. I asked him about the racquet and the first thing he said was the sound it made trough the air. He compared it to his speed and it was night and day. The gravity whistles so much more.
If you look at other previews of the Gravity 98, it's a feature of the racquet. Head pay a lot of attention to sound, as they believe it adds to the feedback for the player. Maybe RPM Rough amplifies it a tad! Great sound whatever.
Interesting that a big main draw for you to this racquet is the sound it makes, but you use a string damper as well...? At least, in the close up B roll footage it shows the emoticon damper on the strings. But, it's also Babolat RPM Rough, so I expect no less lol
Hey Beckett, I’m wondering between the extreme pro and percept 100D, I want a racquet with good directional control, is easy to decide how much topspin you apply/ how much topspin you play with, lower launch angle then average, some good manoeuvrability and is torsionally stable, is also good for flat and topspin shots and lastly with some free power.
2024 quiet but Pure Strike gen4 , especially 98 18x20 and 16x19 are really great sticks . It’s amazing the amount of spin I can generate with the closer pattern
I’m actually excited to hear what you think of the new Pure Drives now that you’re more into power 100s. If you like it I’ll probably have to give them a go
It's quite interesting that you brought up one-hander because I was under the impression that gravity's head shape making it a bit less maneuverable for a one handed backhand. Well, at least that's what I feel with my gravity tour (or could also be that's just my skill issue).
Based for sure. A criticism of Blast is that the coating wears off pretty fast. Is that the same thing on Rough as well? And on either, does that coating wearing off really just kill the good qualities of the string? I’d hate to use a string that’s essentially dead before the string itself goes dead.
@ Tks! Looking forward to the full review! Especially if can have a sense of comparison between this one and other famous competitors, like blade v9 and ezone 98!
If we are speaking about silo identity, then I think the Extreme Pro/Tour is more of a Radical (play every shot/all-court) type of racquet and this G98 is more of a spin machine. Which makes me almost want to make the Radical MP a Boom Pro and then completely cancel the Boom Pro.
How do you compare this with RF 01, Prestige MP L , Vcore 98 and Ezone 98? I am thinking to move from my PS 97 V13 315gr with leather grip to one of those to reduce weight and being able to play more hours at my top level... The only one I tested is Vcore 98, so far good racket much power but good.I would love to have more feedback.
Since Wilson's pro stock H22, I've come to see a 22mm straight beamed, 16x19, 98 as about as close to heaven as one can get. If anything's gonna seduce you back to the dark (control) side, I believe the Gravity 98 just might be your Palpatine...
I still enjoy my Prostaff 97 v14 but as someone with a two handed backhand, I am sometimes tempted to move to a Gravity Pro or something. I am assuming the Gravity 98 doesn't have quite the same level of control as my Prostaff based on your comments re-Gravity Pro. I don't hit a lot of flat shots, so I think if I get the chance, I'll test out a Gravity 98. I used to always play Babolats, but I don't like the handle shape on them. I much prefer the Head/Wilson handles personally as I find the bevels easier to find (yes I use a leather grip under my overgrip). And then sometimes I just want to get a Pure Aero 98 because I am a rec player, and I'd rather have fun blasting balls and occasionally hitting a highlight reel shot than just slowly losing a boring tactical game anyway. 🙃
I'm using yy vcore 98 2023 currently, extreme mp 2022 is a bit hard to control for me, but i really love the knob of HEAD more, Will gravity tour 98 2025 be a good option for me? Really appreciate
How was stability And control? I felt the mp was super wobbly even weighed up at 3 and 9 and it came to 340g. The stability was atrocious, which makes me very skeptical as it’s the same beam width but with even less strings for control (16/19 unlike the mp)
@@TwoWheels47 feels great to swing on the one hander but it does prefer to be ripped, if you play really flat, it’s not really ideal, if you like to rip the ball though, it’s perfect

I've heard some other reviewers say that it is very comparable to either the Pure Strike 98 16x19 or the Pure Aero 98. I'm wondering what your thoughts are in terms of which racket this plays closer to!!!
I guess if I had to choose I'd say the Strike. My Strike had such a high SW though so it's hard to really compare them. Swingfeel-wise, I don't think this one plays like the Aero 98 at all. I feel very forced into driving through my shot with the Aero 98/VS but the Gravity 98 lets you swing however you want. Its more like an Extreme Tour/Pro or a VCORE 98, and for the record, I don't and never have considered those as real competitors to the Aero 98 because they swing so differently.
Beckett oh yeah greetings and salutations. Happy Halloween I see you didn't need a costume attah-boy Igor! 🎃 The thunderous aspect. Listen can that be a liability as much as an intimidator racquet? As soon as you slice or drop shot, the lack of crackle in your tackle is going to be a dead giveaway to your opponent, nest-ce-pas? How did you find the feel was it Yonex-like, a tad mushy? @ sweet, still, I don’t care for 98s 97s my 2018 95 is perfect but all non ai ezones had always lacked some feel, I’d take a 96 for that placebo 1 square inch difference and rest all 4 of my beat up 95s as they’ve served their duty far beyond any reasonable expectations xD

@@JLKV22that’s probably quite accurate, I struggled more on my backhand keeping the ball down with this as my backhand is flatter than my forehand, I really had to try rip the backhand which was demanding in that sense that I felt I couldn’t get lazy with this racquet

I need to stop watching reviews and just stick to my Diadem Elevate Tours (teal ones) because they’re great all around racquets. But now I’m going to get at least 1 Yonex V Core 95. Now I have to try this one 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏼♂️😡
Just put me on mute and you are good hahaha
How can we get yonex to make a ezone 96 with a 16/20 pattern 😂
have you seen Shapo using an 18x20 98?
@ sweet, still, I don’t care for 98s 97s my 2018 95 is perfect but all non ai ezones had always lacked some feel, I’d take a 96 for that placebo 1 square inch difference and rest all 4 of my beat up 95s as they’ve served their duty far beyond any reasonable expectations xD
🎉
It's powerful with a 58 RA??? that doesn't sound right
You would never say it´s 58 when you hit it at all ;-) I tested this one as well before knowing anything about the RA and my impression was like 63-64.
You said the RA is under 50 strung, but I think you meant under 60 strung.
good catch
So why did henrik and tennis nerd found that stick demanding? 😅
Probably just because I was playing with Luca and he's such a scrub that all racquets are easy to use against him
I think it may be because they play way more flatter than him
I wondered this too, this racquet was so nice and easy to throw around imo
@ luca-magic it is
@@JLKV22that’s probably quite accurate, I struggled more on my backhand keeping the ball down with this as my backhand is flatter than my forehand, I really had to try rip the backhand which was demanding in that sense that I felt I couldn’t get lazy with this racquet
58 RA too soft.....
Under 50 RA???? This has to be a mistake. It's under 60 right?
correct i meant to say 60
