Great video, as always! I love how you give your view and aren't influenced by the "tennis worlds" concensus. Looking forward to seeing how this hits the market next year.
Love what I'm hearing, Demoed 10+ rackets last month looking for a new racket after not being satisfied with my ezone 100 with a bit too much dampening for my preference. Loved the gravity line but not the 100sq in head as much. Just heard about this racket, and couldn't wait till January so settled on the PS98 for now. Seems like this racket is best of both worlds from what I'm using in the PS98 and what I enjoyed about the Gravity Pro.
Me too. The change would be frustrating. The only thing that needs to be improved on the Gravit MP is stability, what i hope happens with the auxetic 2.0.
@@GabrielMedeirosEveryone complains the Gravity Pros are too heavy. At first yes, but I played up to the racquet with strength trading rather than the free power addiction. I can swing volley with control and precision from the baseline with that racquet. Give that weight the chance it deserves. The result will pay back huge plus you don't even notice the heft after a while. In a few months that heft is your best friend on the court.
Really terrific review, thank you! I currently use the original Gravity Pro and am still loving it. My question is a bit tricky to articulate but, given that the 98 is smaller, more flexible, lighter weight/swingweight, more powerful, and open pattern ... what makes it a Gravity? Is there any unifying feature that a Gravity Pro user would recognize or benefit from? I'm a bigger guy and can handle the Gravity Pro's weight -- what would I recognize in the 98? This might be unanswerable, just a thought that came to mind as I watched your video. Again, great job with the review.
I do think it has Gravity feel and large sweetspot, which translates into easy pop on both wings. Other than that, the racket doesn’t swing anything like a Gravity Pro. The good thing is it’s faster and more maneuverable than Gravity Pro. But if you’re a big guy and can handle it I would say use the Pro.
I hit couple balls with one handed backhand. It works really well. But don’t take my word because I’m not a one hander and the large sweetspot really helps me with that.
I hit a fine one hander on the heavier Pro, don't see why this would be worse. I don't buy into the idea of racquets "for" a specific shot, it's all too reliant on personal mechanics and preferences, you've just got to try it and see.
I’ve a one hander and hit with this last week, felt good all around, one hander it felt great in the hands and on the ball, it prefers to be ripped though and my backhand is a bit flatter unless I focus on some rip, I got some launchy backhands when I didn’t rip it
I found this racquet needed to be ripped with spin or I could get some launchy shots, especially on my one handed backhand which is a bit flatter unless I try ripping it more. Slice backhands had to be hit 100% properly or else it flew up on me, Speed Pro is my normal racquet and so much more predictable and not as demanding on perfect technique which I think this Gravity does require a bit of effort in that regard…In general though is wasn’t as high launching as what I was expecting from what I’d heard others say. Felt really nice but my prototype was super loose so that could’ve added to the great feel I was getting
Hmmm closest to blade but its a fairly stiff racquet compared to a blade and more head light, form what you have mentioned it doe snot sound like a well thought through racquet
It’s not the same weight class so I prefer this one because I’m not playing 315g anymore. But have to say Gravity Pro is better at almost everything except spin, of course if you can handle it.
@tantennis I think that's gonna be tough unless you swing faster and use a stiffer shaped poly. Your tour bite soft is a bit powerful, increase tension swing faster or Instead of tour bite soft use your bite 1.20 same tension and swing faster to get it to dip. No matter what you will have to increase tension, increase stiffness and racket head speed because the gravity tour it more powerful.
As always interesting to hear your thoughts Tan. The Gravity 98 is definitely going to appeal to a wide range of players. Perhaps with fine tuning, maybe something like Solinco Confidential will gain more consistency out of the string bed, pull a bit of power out of the frame and increase spin ?
I think it will be replaced. Although I hope not because I think that the current tour is more in line with the gravity line up. Whereas the new 98 not so much.
@@tantennis I think this is more to do with the Gravity 98 string bed being less spin capable than the Aero 98. When going for a flat winner, the Aero 98 produces a faster shot for similar effort.
@@tantennisagree with this…my prototype I had last week was super loose like around 40lbs, felt quite flexible as a result but still solid impact so think over 50lbs could feel a bit stiff

Yes I tried it briefly for an hour. It plays pretty easy for 98 sqin. Good power and control. However, it doesn’t handle heavy balls that well. It feels wobble and not stable and I cannot control the balls. (Heavy balls only)
Why do you think this racquet is so powerful? It's thin beamed, has a thin throat, medium-low flex, 325 SW, etc. All those specs would make me assume that it has the same power potential as a Blade... except that it has a more open string pattern. Is that the reason?
The entire gravity line (mpl, MP, pro) are getting a 2025 refresh (auxetic 2.00, should be out in Jan/Feb. The Radical line is also getting a 2025 refresh. (Both lines are on sale on many sites... Might be a good time to grab one before they are gone)

I do think you're eastern grip and fairly linear stroke path makes it more difficult to control the ball with the higher launch angle. you need to bring the ball down with your spin/vertical path or, as you did, use a string with more texture and shape.
Yes my swing is one thing but I never really have issues with high launch angle on most of the rackets. On the other hand It’s actually what I like to play with. I don’t spray balls like this even on something like Pure Aero or Extreme MP. I tends to have problems when power/spin ratio is not balanced . Something like Radical MP or Blade 100 that gives a lot of power but not so much spin.
Ratchet up the tension if you are spraying balls or if you think the “string bed is erratic. This bs about string your racket in the 40s is just nonsense. With a 16x19 it is especially important to string in the mid 50s. You’ll actually feel the flex of the frame instead of the goofy spring of the ball off loose strings.
