here are my thoughts on some of the games I got to check out at GAMESCOM. I've actually seen quite a bit more than this but I can't talk about them...yet. Stay tuned. Let me know what you think of the games I mentioned tho
1. Love your videos at gameranx and in your channel and at FPS podcasts
2. You own some pizza
3. I am excited for some of the games
4. I have PS4 slim waiting for PS5 pro so yep there are people waiting
You said bastardize. You are ok in my book. 😁
I cannot explain how excited I am for KCD:2 Bonkers it is finally coming
Blue eyes cutie with gaming news... nothing better on youtube!!!
Some amazing looking games, nothing in my wheelhouse, but excited to see them, and happy for people to get to play them. I am interested in the Amazon anthology series - curious to see the Outer Worlds installment, that game was a ton of fun.
Jake, you’re just so damn genuine. No clickbaity titles and such sincere takes. Never change.
Yeah, the Top 10 vids are the clickbait.
@@ceracen clickbaity sure. But never misleading
Yeah, I love Jake’s style. Gameranx, and Jake’s own channel, are in the top tier of my favorite game channels.
Except he's not even bald.
Hell yeah.
Thanks from a disabled video game player. I couldn't go to Gamescom even if I wanted to. Too slow! 😂Thank you for bringing 🎉 the fun back!
Cheers! thanks for this!!!
@@JakeBaldino You are so welcome. You always speak for the Gaming community. Love it!
I see a precious little puppy sleeping on that chair in the background… I expect a whole video about this treasure 🐶

Oh please . It's dog get over it
Expedition 33 caught my eye almost immediately. It seems so passionate and wearing its inspirations on its sleeve while also feeling completely fresh. So I’m glad the developer breakdown excited you. Gives me hope for it
I can't wait to play Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 for many reasons, but mainly cause my mother's side of the family is from the Czech Republic.
best tekno @ CZ
Same. Part of my family is straight from Bohemia when it was still a Kingdom. I haven't even played the first one, but now I can't wait to
@kadenfauble
I don't know how far my mother's side of the family goes, but I'll have to ask if anyone knows.
I used to order drugs from the Czech Republic.. thanks czechins
Been to Prague? Was there last year, very nice. Good bridge's...kind of small though
Expedition 33's combat reminds me of the Legend of Dragoon. Honestly, the timing mechanic is getting me hyped for it now too. Thanks for the mention, Jake!
Now that Stalker is approaching Expedition 33 is taking its place for my most hyped game. If Pragmata pokes its head back up though….
Yeah! Totally like Legend of the Dragoon, a game mechanic I haven’t seen since!! It was awesome
Devs specifically mentioned Lost Odyssey as inspiration … the game is my most anticipated besides Suikoden 1 and 2 remaster
First thing i yelled out during the reveal trailer was man they can deffff do a remake of dragoon
You say legend of dragoon (you are probably more correct, ive never played it), I say the first two south park obsidian games.
Imagine if the SIFU movie embraces the martial arts films of the 70's and 80's. Now that would be cool.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is definitely the game I’m looking forward to!
As someone trying to chase the high that was FFX in 2001, I'm excited.
This will my goty 2025 I am betting. I have a fear that it is going to be too short but I hope I am wrong!
Civ Sev is now canon
KCD2 and Stalker 2 have been on the top of my most anticipated list for a looooong time glad to see that those games will come out soon
Jake "grain of salt" baldino

Lmao
I know I’m gonna like Kingdom Come 2. Those developers just “get it”. It’s like they have a serious passion for the universe they’ve created and love what they do. The game having a slight comic edge to it is really what makes it so good
They did very good with the first game. I didn't particularly like it. I thought it was boring and clunky, but I can recognize it for a good game all together.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Expedition 33 are the most interesting games I'd followed for a while now.
I'm getting both on day 1!
Aw man I'm so pumped for kingdom come 2 I play KCD1 everyday I'm obsessed with the series!!. Feb 11 couldn't come any quicker lol I can't wait to explore
Clair Obscure looks amazing! My most anticipated game
The First Berserker Khazan looks amazing
The puppy sniff @12:40 ❤
Always happy to see Vessi sponsoring a Jake Baldino video. Got mine off of one of these ads and I'm very happy to have them. Also, what an adorable dog!
I also got Vessis because of them sponsoring these videos, and they are great. And Jake’s dog is super cool too!
KCD2... can't wait
@9:30 I just want to stress how exciting it is to see Warhammer 40k media. As a lifelong fan, I can tell you we are starving. games Workshop is notoriously protective of their IP till recently. All of the Warhammer things to watch were videogame cutscene compilations or Fan made animations. There were some good ones but we just need a legit show. So see even just one episode of Amazon budget animation makes me excited. Here's hoping it leads to more and that the Henry Cavil show isnt ruined.
Dude coined CIV Sev, that's a true celebrity right there
My dad went to gamescon to play elder scrolls 6
Those queues are long ,he’s been there 10 years 😢😂
I just started playing Kingdom Come Deliverance, and let me tell you, it is great! I know it's about 5 years old, and I'm late on the train, but the second one looks so good that I had to make sure i played the first. The hype is real!
Great decision. You’re in for a treat. It starts a bit slow but it’s like that for a reason. Don’t give up on it. After a certain point you’ll fall in love and become addicted. All skills, including combat, are difficult at the beginning but when you get the hang of them they are sooo satisfying. They are learnt in an organic way, almost like in real life. And this is coming from someone who didn’t really bother with 1st person RPGs before. My type of games would be uncharted and the last of us. I can’t express how much I’m looking forward to KCD2.
All the best and enjoy KCD1!! 🥰
@NoTalentNoSkills The way the skills progress feels like one of the best parts! Games that have skills trees that increase by using said skills are the best feeling rpgs to me. The immersion of the first person controls, too 🤌.
Gettin strong lost odyssey vibes from expedition 33.....could be a beast.
Exactly! The devs specifically stated lost odyssey as inspiration
Oh hell yes! The old school turn based rpg nerd in me is a bit amped... @RyanS406
16:41 I really think I’ll dig Expedition. That game looks like a jrpg on roids.
Expedition 33’s mechanics looks like legends of the dragoon! A total gem, high hopes for it
A buddy of mine actually worked on Secret Level, I'm super hyped for it!
Tim Miller is behind Love, Death and Robot which is unique and awesome.
🐾 This episode is brought to you by Jake’s cute doggo! 🐾
I only started playing KCD1 a few days ago since my PC can't handle the game during the time of release. I'm having a blast right now and I easily sinked 25 hours into it. I guess I'm just in time for KCD2 haha
Me too, because gamepass had a free trial weekend and then the whole thing plus dlc was $4. Lockpicking on console is a nightmare, though. But I'm hooked on the game. Nice to play in medieval times without all the elves and dragons that seem to always be shoved in that setting.
Just bought it for 3 bucks and excited to dive in after Wukong
@@mikesannitti6042 lockpicking gets much easier as you improve the skill, also there is simplified lockpicking in menu options for controllers
@@8Paul7 might have to give that a try
@@mikesannitti6042 Lockpicking on console is really annoying till you reach LVL 6, you can then get the drunk lockpick perk which makes it's absurdly easy.
Jake, have you played Still Wakes the Deep?
This game surprised me so much. I thought it was gonna be a generic horror game but it ended up being my GOTY of 2024.
Does it get more interesting the more you play? Cause I played a little more than 2 hours and all I remember is climbing, walking slowly on ledges, and opening doors. It felt so repetitive in such a little amount of time that I stopped playing.
@@nathandrake9737 It only takes like 4 hours to complete it.
Its main purpose is to tell a story with engaging characters and the game didn't feel repetitive. Unless you prefer to be slow.
@@DarkAttackYT I mean, I played through all of Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and that ended up being one of my favorite games of all time. Except with that game it is straight up a walking simulator. It's not constantly slowing you down to walk across a dangerous ledge, or climb up something, or open door after door. If the answer is yes, you're doing that for 4 hours, then Im glad I stopped at 2. I love story driven games, but I'd personally rather just hold down a stick for hours and listen to a story rather than the game giving me mundane actions.
@@nathandrake9737 NO!!!
I said Still Wakes the Deep takes 4 hours to complete. I didn't say you do climbng stuff for 4 hours. Jesus.
garbage game
NGL, I came here for the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 info.
One of my fav. Video game adaptations is Halo Legends. A collection of short stories in the Halo universe. Very diverse stuff. Something like Oats Studio or Love Death Robots would be a great fit for video games
That is a beautiful doggo. He looks like he gets a whole lotta love.
That Vessi ad with the dog is going places
I am definitely interested in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, the story sounds promising, the gameplay looks good, and the graphics look cool. All just my opinion, of course, but this is definitely the top game I'm keeping my eye on.
It's by far the most interesting thing to me here.
I definitely have an eye on it.
10:35 Towerborn makes me think of Guardian Heroes my favourite game on the Sega Saturn. Good memories.
Secret level has a good chance of being amazing seeing as it's from the people behind love, death & robots which is really fucking good
Your office is slowly becoming the step dads office from The Sandlot and im here for it!
I am so interested in Expedition 33. The narrative is already so interesting and the voice acting is subliminal (Jennifer English (L)(L)) I also really digged the sound design overal. The ambient music and sound effects during traversal just really vibed with me.
Hope you like KCD2. My most expected game since RDR2
hell yea
Anticipated?
@@ActNasty5maybe? Am not English 😂
@@HuntressGamer oh makes sense! Haha
@@ActNasty5 Let's say never been so hyped for a game since RDR2. Thanks btw, learned the right word 😅cheers !
God I wish I got to play expedition 33, towerborne was my gem of the show tho. I wasn’t really interested at all but now I’m pretty keen to play it at launch.
It’s shaping up to be a great fall of games
I'm not even super into turn based games but the graphics and how smooth the movement is in expedition 33 and the whole vibe, has me interested. It really looks next gen.
Turn-based combat with real-time parry and damage bonuses was something the Penny Arcade games did (On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness). Not sure if they pioneered it or not.
I am super excited for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 . I can’t wait to continue Henry’s journey.
The expedition mechanics is the same as sea of stars where you can time tour attacks for more damage and time parties
Expedition 33 reminds me of Paper Mario. The powering up your attacks and blocking DMG but it's turn based.
HENRY!! Blacksmith’s boy!!
wow Secret Level kinda sound what Love, Death & Robots did and I'm here for it
Its the same creators…
YOOOOO, that warhammer video really looks like Syama's work. He hasn't released anything Warhammer since he released the greatest fan film short ever, Astartes, and I'd love to see another Warhammer film created by him.
Expedition 33 looks fucking sick.
I grew up in the area and Gamescom is the only convention I've ever really been to lol. It's grown massively and I think it's about twice the size it was when it first started.
A nice little moment this year was when I played Reign Breaker. I told them that you gave it a shout out on the live podcast and that that was the reason why I wanted to try it out myself. It was so wholesome how excited they were even though they didn't know about the FPS podcast.
I'm hyped for expedition 33 last turned based game I loved was lost odessy, it's been a while for me and this has me excited
Man I wish you luck getting in to Warframe for 1999 from scratch lol. I'm a die hard fan of Warframe, and just to let you know 1999 is (likely) going to be locked behind doing every major story quest in the game. Which is easily dozens, if not hundreds of hours of gameplay. Not necessarily because every quest is long, but because the path to do all the quests isn't very streamlined, it's easy to get lost doing something else, getting frustrated, and not knowing what to do or where to go next. They've been working on improving that over the years, but recently I've been watching newer players get into it and it still seems like it could be very easy to get lost if you don't have guidance from an experienced player. That said, I imagine someone as busy as you just can't do that, but I hope you'll be able to check out playthroughs of the quests and 1999 itself when it's out. Warframe's always doing interesting, unique stuff and 1999 looks awesome. And hey if you do ever get into it, then you're welcome on in with open arms.
Expedition 33 combat reminds me of legend of dragoon. The whole timing aspect to create the combo beautiful!
I mentioned this on the reveal trailer thingy for Expedition 33, but this game is 10000% a spiritual successor to Legend of Dragoon, aka one of the greatest JRPGs of all time.
Seems more like Lost Odyssey to me
Expedition 33 Looks Amazing & Day One On Ultimate 🎉
Hey, Jake can we get a video where you do a tour of your room looks like it’s all complete, interested in what’s in the cabinet
that Love Death + Robots for Video Games sounds Exceptional 🎉✨️
The Berserker game reminds me of Viking Battle for Asgard. Same exact warrior I swear
That game was super cool. Remember having alot of fun with it
Yes!
That's right better mention KCD2
I’m like you, Jake, I was fed up of the grind in Warframe but I’m excited to play this new thing.
Love after a hard day of work to just sit and watch these awesome baldino vids and just not care for a awhile lol
I’m drinking Mountain Dew Livewire while watching this video 😂
THE BEST ONE
Code red
Expedition 33 has basically become one of my most anticipated games since it was unveiled. Can't wait to see it's lore and take on JRPG
Thanks for the video Jake! Always appreciate your thoughts.
I genuinely only listens to Jake’s reviews anymore, so now loving the first KCD makes me MAD HYPE for 2
Towerborne is giving me serious Guadian Heroes vibes, which I'm 100% down for.
Well played Baldino. I actually watched the whole ad to see more dog.
Secret Level picking up Concord may not have been the best choice.
21:03 I feel you brother!
I'm very excited for expedition 33 I think it looks great and I love how they're approaching turn based combat just something more to do besides inputting commands. Also really looking forward to Indiana Jones and definitely wanna see more gameplay of the new mafia game
so expedition 33 is like yakuza like a dragon, turn based combat but you can time block and parries and have quick time events during attacks. You can also say that both games got that thing from legend of dragoon on the ps1.
Everyone that hated the combat in KCD never bothered to play the game long enough to get training from Bernard to parry, hopefully this second game forces the player into learning that mechanic in a more clear and deliberate manner.
And early in the game as well it would be very useful at the start especially while your stats will be at 0
I played like 150 hours of KCD, had my Henry kitted out and leveled up, yet still got my ass kicked more often than not if i got attacked by multiple people. Hopefully in the sequel it will be less finicky to quickly change targets and such.
@@boris3973yes, but that’s realistic isn’t it? Even when you’re super trained, when a group of people assault you at the same time you’ll probably die. I think it’s a breath of fresh air to take a break from the Hollywood inspired games and deal with something realistic. In real life, when a lot of people attack you, you’d rather run and hide, try to take them out one by one or using traps, etc. be smart, use your environment, improvise. I’m tired of the superhero type that fights 10 enemies and destroys them.
It wasn't the combat that killed it for me it was that stupid broken lock picking system
If you look at the achievements, 90% of people who play KC:D never made it past the attack on Skalitz.
The only thing I need to know about KCD, is did they just give us a normal save system? Life demands a game you can put down at a moment's notice without hoops to jump through or intentionally frictional save systems.
I'm in love with that cabinet on the right.
Warframe is really a unique gaming experience not just among live services. If you have the time, going through the main quests needed to reach 1999 is absolutely worth a shot.
15:05...I miss The Legend of Dragoon T-T
Expedition 33 may be the first turn based game I get into!
I just wish Kingdom Come gave us the option to play in 3rd person like the Witcher. I love seeing the armors and etc.
I love that chair and yes it really kinda have the Bruce Wayne aesthetic
I didn't arrive until Saturday, so missed you and the others Next year I plan to go for all 5 days, so hopefully will see you there, if you go again :)
Towerborne has a 8/10 feeling to it played two betas I love beat em ups I'm excited
Towerborne is my most anticipated.....me and my kids started with Castle Crashers ..(and since many others)..this is our most wanted...we..can't wait ! # co op dad/kids
I hope KCD 2 still has dice and betting hahah
My girlfriend lives in Cologne and I was so jealous that she got to see Gamescom. I told her to tell you hello if she sees you. Gave a beautiful picture of you to her like a hitman. Thanks for this video man.
Honestly Secret Level and Mafia are the 2 I am by far the most hype for from this Gamescom. And ya when Expedition 33 was first announced I was blown away by it, it looks amazing.
2 games with Ben Star (VA for Clive from FF16) coming out? IM IN!!! He was AMAZING as Clive! So I'm already interested with what he's got next.
Expedition 33 is my most anticipated game I’ve had in a while
people to this day still play for the first time or go back and experience ffx. imho one of the best and most emotional stories ever told. this game hopefully has a good drama and maybe even a cute romance. clair obscur looks very promising
I'm so excited for Secret Level. A video game anthology is such a cool idea. I think the one I'm most excited for is the one for Sifu. I remember Sifu released a really amazing trailer years ago and i always wished they did more like it.
Kingdom Come isn't the prettiest, but it's the only game I'm pumped for. So immersive
Say WUT?! I’m playing through the first one, and even that one is still gorgeous today 🤨
I would say KCD1 is still the prettiest game I ever played when it comes to environments, alongside RDR2.
@8Paul7 KCD and RDR2 have to most alive and reactive open worlds.
Sea Of Stars has a similar combat system to Expedition 33, I'd reccomend it for anyone who wants smthn retro inspired with that system of combat
Expedition 33 looks scarily good. Like too good to be true but for whatever reason I think they'll pull it off. Can't wait.
I love warframe and that new (dlc?) looks amazing. I love the warframe is truly a free game. The only thing that stops me from getting back in is how complicated everything is. It took me weeks to understand what I was doing and I feel like if I jump back in, im going to have to re learn everything 😢
The man Baldino, a legend in trying times. Thanks man
Falcon is so much better.

I am also looking forward to Secret Level, Love, Death and Robots was a great anthology series, will be cool to see what's done with some cool game IP. They will be hit and miss tho, unfortunately just the way with anthologies, L,D&R had a good balance though so Blur know what they're doing
