- When I installed it, I thought it would make the game impossible to play, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was actually not that unreadable!
Some enemies become harder to deal with, while others feel easier somehow! :P

it will be very hard to make that considering rooms are prerendered and are just pngs but it is still possible if you make like an ascii shader that processes room pngs and returns an ascii looking one
i could see how an why it would be harder to beat the game like that, but certainly easier than doing it blindfolded lol

I was going to make a joke about Rain World is looking a lot like Word World (the TV show), but the mod name wrote the joke for me. 😅
What's funny about this is I had completely forgotten about that show when I made the mod. This was an extension of my arachnophobia mode mod, which itself was inspired by Lethal Company :P

If you were wondering, yes, custom creatures do have partial support. If they're based on existing creatures in the code, they receive the same treatment of their ancestor (for example, fat fireflies are based on vultures in the code so how they show up is similar to other vultures). For completely custom creatures (like the hoverfly and water blob), it tries to display their name at their body, but sometimes the bodies are made of multiple parts so it just picks one.
As for void worms, I wasn't quite sure how to treat the big one considering how large it is, and if I wasn't going to do that one, then I wasn't going to do the rest for consistency. I'm planning to add more things though! Particularly on my list are the aforementioned void worms, worm grass, the cosmetic background insects, and a better indicator for where a lizard's head is (I have an idea for how to tackle that one).
Two last things: "TentaclePlant" is the code name for monster kelp, so yes they are the same thing if you were wondering why they appear that way (most creatures do the same). Also, you said echoes were a bit simplistic, I encourage you to look back at the clip and see if you notice anything else different ;)
You made the echo flakes into letters :] I liked how you handled creatures with multiple joints (ex Vulture and DLLs)
If you’re still working on this, will the Echos have their names (Steam achievement names) displayed alongside them? Hopefully I get to see this mod showcased again if its updated
@@wingedwitch191That's an idea, not sure though because that won't be able to handle custom echoes, and custom echoes sometimes don't even have names. I'm waiting to work on updates for the mod until after the game update coming later this month because I know some code things will need to be changed. But there will be another update to the mod!
For something that most would consider a "joke" mod, this has such an incredible amount of care and attention that I feel it definitely jumps out of that category!
I love all the little details you spread throughout the mod, it really feels like something special! ^^
And you are right! I definitely missed the Echo background effects haha, that makes it less simple for sure :P
I am impressed that this works at all for custom creatures, I would have never expected it to be so flexible! Even if the support is limited and basic, it working is a really cool accomplishment!
As for the void worms, yeah that is understandable! They are so freaking huge that it would be tough to turn them into words in a way that fits the screen well... :P
