My biggest issue with my master's thesis is that I have to write it during a pandemic. The campus is off-limits, the libraries are closed, and my workspace consists of my bed. Oh, and my university hasn't given us an extension. I have two more weeks left, and I'm literally worried that I won't be able to finish it :(
@@LauraMaliszewska Thank you!! I actually handed it in this morning ❤ I wasn't completely happy with how it turned out, but so happy I managed to finish ^^

Hi Laura! I watched this video a few months ago in April when I was just about to start working on my Master's thesis and was feeling completely overwhelmed. The thought of writing this huge assignment in 3 months had made me so anxious that I was unable to sit down and just do the work. I wanted to come back here and say thank you. Because I followed your tips and submitted my thesis last week, and it wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. The biggest mistake I was making was trying to read, make notes and write all the same time. And you're completely right, it just doesn't work that way! So, thank you Laura! And to everyone else working on a thesis, you got this ❤️
Thanks Laura for the tips! I’ve been overwhelming doing my thesis (research, taking notes, writing) and now after watching this, I’m more motivated doing my master thesis. You’re amazing!

Thank you for such an informative, realistic and inspiring video. I am in my last year of my Bachelor degree and a little worried of writing a thesis for the first time but your video made me more optimistic and believe that everything will be fine if I plan my steps in advance. I also appreciate the fact that you give tips from your own experience :)
This video is very helpful. I am in the middle of writing my research proposal and I am very stressed because I tried to do everything at the same time. now I know, I have to work on it by chapters, and separate reading, taking notes and writing. I almost give up. But, as you said I will still get my degree. So I will keep fighting, thanks.
Same! :) This piece of advice seems crucial to me now. I've been postponing writing my disso for MONTHS. And if I'd actually made a thorough plan and chosen a reward, I think I would most definitely bring myself to do something instead of thinking "Nooo, I'm too tired after work" at the end of the day. Especially at the beginning stage of writing it's important just to make it a habit and that's where "rewards" come into play to trick yourself into it :D
Thank you so much Laura. This video has given me the positive nudge to get up and start my thesis. I have been so overwhelmed with the thought of it and just buried my head in the sand. Thanks for your practical advise and encouragement.
Thank you for this valuable video. I realized I was trying to do everything at the same time and felt overwhelmed and anxious. Now I'm feeling more motivated to work on my research project
I agree with setting up stages in the writing process. I thought of the writing process in 3 stages and I allocated my time for each stage depending on how much time I felt I needed. This video is very helpful!
Seriously, thank you so much for these tips! I feel way less lost now after watching your vid :D My deadline for my Master's thesis is in 6 weeks and I'm still at the panicking stage and done absolutely nothing so it was really helpful! Btw, I agree with you completely about how important detailed notes are, I'm in this mess now because I didn't have a system for it from the start and now I'm redoing the reading, so yeah
Ok, this explains why I feel completely overwhelmed and hopless now with a stress induced headache. I have been doing EVERYTHING at once and my brain has been going on max speed. Thank you. Hope I can get through this.
I am just starting my Master's Thesis. Thought why not search on UA-cam for some guidance on how best to go about it. And thats how I find this video. Definitely helpful.

How to write a Master’s Thesis 1. Find your topic - don’t pick anything too broad/too big, pick as narrow/specific as possible 2. Make a plan - weekly/monthly goals , divide by chapters or divide by stages - reading and doing research in a month , making notes , writing by next etc. , set up smaller goals , it’s not a big deal , create a plan and follow it , allocate time every single day , avoid the mistake doing everything(don’t research , read , write ) at the same time , the brain will get overwhelmed , make each a separate stage . Example : Read on Mondays , Make notes on Tuesdays , write on Thursdays , Read on Sundays etc. 3. Keep everything in one place , later you can find , keep everything organized 4. Create separate files , don’t write dissertation in the master file , have a chapter draft file / reference draft file / notes file / different file for everything / name them accordingly , in the end you will just copy paste everything , everything is gonna be messy in one file 5. Make good notes - write titles and subtitles so you will know in which place of your thesis you are gonna use specific notes , make sure the notes are structured 6. Mark your quotes - the author , title , page , where you can find in your references later 7. Make notes to future yourself - why is it useful , what does it highlight , argue etc. 8. Paraphrase right away , contribute own thoughts and opinions 9. Color coding 10. Writing - after you have read, made notes, paraphrased everything writing is easy , in the end you will get everything you need 11. Date every version you’ve sent to the supervisor 12. Reward yourself for the work you are doing 13. Don’t compare yourself to others, everything is fine , only compare to yourself before 14. Rest 15. Proofread 16. Introduction and conclusions last
