Don't use a torque wrench as a breaker bar. That will ruin your very expensive torque wrench.
I cringed every time he used his torque as a breaker bar....
Also thanks a ton on the rubber boot trick.
Really wish you would've posted what kit to use. I'm dealing with this same problem on a Jeep Liberty and tried four different kits to press the ball joint in that don't have the right pieces
Hell, Dont let that heavy caliper hang from the rubber hose. use a cord or wire to hold it, not the heavy caliper and pads. GEEE!!
I have the same 2007 LImited. Mine had noises while turning. for a hundreds miles until i noticed it. Dont drive with bad noises. Torque them back very well.
Since you have a Jeep liberty 3.7 i have the same vehicle and im Experiencing an oil leak to my spark plug, whay could be the reason?. Does the jeep has a spark plug Gasket ?
It does, they're basically giant washers, almost always included with valve cover gasket set. As they age they get brittle and can shrink and no longer seal the gap, thats when the oil starts to seep down to the spark plug
@@CrookedMustache okay thank you
great video! trust me dude, add a 4 pound sledge hammer to your tool set to slam those suspension joints loose.
What size socket did you use for the spindle nut?
I had to check to be sure 35mm

@ mine turned out to be 36mm but has to be a deep well socket.
It’s still stuck tho I need a longer breaker bar.
After losing my first ball joint i grased all grease cups all over with a needle injector from a grease gun. I love my lifted liberty.
Is this a jeep liberty 2006 ?
Tke the upper ball joint nut loose first then hit the knuckle to pop the stud out of the knuckle .Then take lower loose then tie rod ends then axle nut and pull the knuckle with the hub off all together. Then press out the lower ball joint,
Watching you swing that baby Carpenter's claw handle was tough to watch.
What is the axle nut size??
36mm I believe.

My lower passenger just snapped going 100km, lost all control after front end hit the ground, slid into ditch, ripped out the axle, and the front fender, broke rim.
No tell it was bad, or getting bad. Just snapped.
Beef those babies up boys.
At a crawl the sound and clunking was terror, at speed, I don’t even want to imagine
2006 Jeep Liberty. My lower drivers side ball joint just snapped the other day. I've never seen that happen before. Luckily was going slow over RR tracks and pulled over immediately. Hate to think it would have happened on the interstate.
Why do ball joints just break
@jamalthigpen8129 Best guess, the “ball side” of the ball joint lost all of its grease over time, and the heat build from normal movement with no lubrication made the steel fail catastrophically. The over boosted power steering typical on older jeeps definitely masked the symptoms
why you cut it off wow
Don't need a press beat it out then very carefully beat it back in even and on the edge....
bro you could have used the c clamp press pop that old pice out and just press new ball joint
The audio is unintelligible.
That sucks
Yea bro, it sucked.👎 But at least we got it sorted and fixed. 💪
