    Congratulations, Katie! I'm so glad you found TSM and got yourself free! I used it too, took me about 6 months to become largely indifferent to alcohol from a level of 300-400 drinks per month. I've lent support to many that have been using TSM as well as those that just wanted more info on it. You're completely right about the fact that it's a different journey for everyone, some are done fairly quickly (3-4 months) some take quite a bit longer. From the self-reports that I've read, the bulk of people take 6-12 months and the process is up and down on a daily/weekly basis, but generally folks drink less every month. It's a wonderful alternative to the mainstream "strict abstinence" school of thought that's offered over 90% of the time.

    Good video, I’ve actually been able to do this on my own, the need to drink left me after 4 days on the dry. Now I only take a couple of beers on the weekend.

    You are God Sent, dear Katie. You are the sole reason I found TSM years ago and while I am early on the medication a couple of months in (second time around, the first time I quit), I have seen a glimpse of what it is to get myself, my brain, my life, my freedom back. I am rewatching your early videos to give myself more reassurance that this is going to eventually work, like it did for you. The combo of raging ADHD with the alcohol addiction, both passed on for generations have turned my life into a living hell and a never ending fiasco. But I know that removing alcohol is the first most important step for me. I relate to so much to your experience and the mindless cravings absolutely taking over, to the point where I am just a triggered blob and have no fighting chance of making better decisions. I hope for and look forward to better days.

    I don’t know that I followed a method, but I went from 20+ year regular binge drinker to very moderate drinker, but it took a lot of distance from it to make it work, I think to just hit the reset button on habitual cravings. After about 22 years and coming up on 50, I asked myself “how much longer are you going to ride this train?”. What was helpful is that initially going cold Turkey off of it, I also got Covid, so that masked the withdrawals. After I got past about 2 months, I just noticed the after-work nag to go hit the bar was gone. I met a friend for beers at a bar for NFL playoffs. We split a pitcher (about 2.5 each) and I was good with that.

    Thank you for these videos Katie. I have been watching them since I ordered my Naltrexone from IndiaPharm online. Finally they came yesterday and I took one an hour before I went out for happy hour. I found a couple things, maybe because I took a full 50mg pill, but it DID work. I had 3 beers which is uncommon. Someone bought me a shot of Jager and I gave it to someone else - that never happens. But I think an hour and a HALF before you drink is better? I also noticed myself yawning. A lot. I was a little cranky as well, also maybe because I took 50mg and I have heard others say to cut it in half for the first week.

      great news! I know some doctors do advise waiting longer than an hour - 1.5 to 2 hours. Sleepiness and irratiabilty re side effects I felt as well and are common for people... they do tend to go away with time and most people do start at a 1/2 of dose ie, 25mg (I'm not a doctor of course) :)

    How much is the prescription.
    I was on Naloxone/ Naltrexone combined with Buprenorphine which is Suboxone.
    I got put on the medication because I was heavily addicted to pain medication. But now that I have been off of that medication, the pain that is in my lower back and, the good pain/Crohn’s really affects my sleep, etc. So i use alcohol now! I was NEVER a drinker. And now its getting out of hand!
    So please divulge any info that you know abt this “Sinclair Method” and what i can do to now use all of my life in which to break free of this other device that has shackled me up

    Thank you for this video. Does one still get a "buzz" on Naltrexone? Do you start feeling ill after more than 3 drinks?

    • @hangxious
      @hangxious 7 місяців тому

      For me, I still felt the same kind of buzz that you normally receive from drinking. For whatever reason, it just gives you more of a choice in whether you want to keep drinking. At least, that’s how it felt for me. I went from blacking out almost every time I drank to drinking a few beers and feeling drunk, but not feeling so out of control that I kept reaching for more.

    I tried Naltrexone and it made me nauseous with migraine. This bummed me to no end. The only other choice is to go back to abstaining. And yes the mind chatter...endless after being AA groomed for 25 years in and off.

    Do you have to pay out of pocket for N or is it covered by major health plans? I’m in Canada, so I know it’s relative. There are websites I can purchase from, but just wondering what your experience was

    • @thrivealcoholrecovery
      @thrivealcoholrecovery  6 років тому

      Hey there! I do pay out of pocket as I opted to not go for insurance (when I first started TSM I wasn't sure about this going on my medical record as a pre-existing condition of "addiction" so I just opted to pay out of pocket). On my next refill I will likely use insurance... without insurance it's about $1/pill, with I think it's about 33 cents per pill

    • @thejeaners1087

      Could you possibly direct me to where you purchase it from? I just paid $200 US for 30 pills :((

      Tracey St Jean hey there! I got my prescription through Costco pharmacy... Where did you get yours from?

    • @thejeaners1087
      @thejeaners1087 6 років тому

      Hi, after searching a long time. I finally bought from a site called Trust Pharmacy. I assumed that Costco would need a prescription...
      Ugh... what to do...

    • @thrivealcoholrecovery
      @thrivealcoholrecovery  6 років тому

      Tracey St Jean I see. Sorry to hear that! Also I’m forgetting if you told me, but why don’t get a prescription from a doctor? I understand the TSM community in Canada is growing with a lot of support from doctors there. Claudia Christian, actress and advocate and founder of C3 foundation recently spoke at a conference there.... depending where you are, I know of someone I could connect you with personally who has just started TSM. Let me know! You can email me at EmbodiedDaily@gmail.com

    so it still allows you to enjoy the immediate pleasures of alcohol but essentially removes the addictive attachment? sounds incredible.... my hesitation/worry was always that id never be able to enjoy another sip of anything again without getting nauseous or something

    • @thrivealcoholrecovery
      @thrivealcoholrecovery  3 роки тому +1

      it allows a person to regain control over drinking yes. for me after 1 year on this method, I lost all interest in alcohol and it just became gross to me. So I quit drinking 2+ years ago. But for 1 year on the Sinclair Method (naltrexone), I was able to drink in moderation and enjoyed that.

    • @Palafico3
      @Palafico3 2 роки тому

      It doesn't remove the addictive attachment, that part takes a lot of time and work through forming new neural pathways and rebalancing your dopamine, and even then you can still easily get back into addictive behaviors. Naltrexone takes away the euphoric sensation and cravings, and can help with addiction, but your addiction comes from both genetic and mental predispositions and cannot be magically cured without some serious intervention.

      No disrespect, but how did you reach this conclusion. Was it based on fact and evidence or from self-promotion? Quit drinking eight years ago after drinking for fifty years with the last thirty-five years drinking excessively everyday. After quitting I had no dillusions that if I ever decided to return drinking I would miraculously become a social drinker. This is at best mental masterbation

    • @themarinman8339

      @@davemccall1134 Hi, I drank excessively for two decades and after numerous failed attempts, I’ve been sober for two years. I tried to moderate after a month, six months ayear?!!! All ending in drinking to excess eventually. No disrespect but it’s a simple concept I’m proposing. Self promotion has no place in this conversation.
      You try to moderate, be my guest, maybe you CAN do it. But, from my own torturous experience it’s just a slippery slope to the bottom
