Even if you are Simon Sinek you aren't permitted to chew food while addressing an audience. Its bad manners and irritating. I stopped watching after 45 seconds. My question to Sinek .... Why commit this basic mistake? Anyways, you have given me stuff for my next segment on "What you shouldn't do when you start a speech?"
Thanks Simon… I’ve just been watching Senator Bill Nelson announce NASA’s Venus mission. He told a story of a worker in the 1960’s who was digging a ditch at a NASA site. A reporter walked over and said “What are you doing?” He replied, “I’m helping to send a man to the moon”
Every time you speak I discover something new we have in common and it helps me realize things about myself. I was recently diagnosed with adhd at 41. I am proud of my ability to make the complex simple. This is very helpful and it's my point of difference in the work I do. I teach dance to adults from 65 to 99 and people with disabilities. I am great at inspiring people to believe in themselves and find joy in dance, specially first timers, people with "no rhythm" and people with "two left feet".
@24:40 is such a great question!! Is there anymore content that would help someone find their why based on personality traits during dysfunctional childhood upbringing, etc?
Perhaps they weren't tought how to teach skills and concepts - teaching is a skill itself. And maybe the company culture they're in doesn't encourage sharing skills, as skills could be seen as career advantage and so sharing those skills there might feel risky for them. Might of course be other reasons too :)
What do you mean by golden circle ? If you could explain that to me . Why ? how ? or what ? - those are just questions . What that have to do with the golden circle ? and why golden and not white or blue ? and why circle ?
Loved Jennifer's question - I basically had the same thought. I think Simon got sidetracked with the answer a little but I take from it that our why is maybe buried a little deeper. It definitely feels like we have to pan for the gold - swirling all the mud and grit and crap out to get to the tiny nuggets.
OMG!! I love you for a while already (yes you inspired me many times😘) , but learning that specific thing about you, that you like doing for terminally ill people.... moved you up a level in my eyes again!! Thank you for your contribution to our society. Keep inspiring Simon! 😘
“The thing that you give to the world is also the thing you need the most.” I’ve watched and listened to almost all your content and I have never heard you say that about the why. Big light bulb just went on 💡 Thank you for sharing that. 🙏
Will you help me find my why, Simon? If not, who can help me? I am 40, my son is in college, senior year, out of state. I knew my why as I was working my bum off to make ends meet and raise him: get him to college ✅ Now.. I am trying to figure out my career and why I struggle getting to a place where I am compensated appropriately and love my job. Starting a new job next week that will pay me more than I’ve ever made, finally, but it’s not in the industry of my profession and I’m not sure how long or if it will fulfill me as I know I am capable of more. Hospitality for 22 years, bachelors in tourism, conventions, event management, graduated when my son was 12 after going to school FT and working two jobs. Became the Catering Manager for the Zoo before feet needed a rest. Now working as marketing coordinator, currently in HVAC, about to go to gutters, siding, roofing…but want to own my own something, but overwhelmed by being broke and not sure my feet can handle it again. Please help?
My working why: To use my trauma to help others heal. By sharing my story, I hope to Inspire others to find the courage to find their own life after trauma.
I think my why is to be able of being of added value to anyone or anything. However the feel good for me only comes when I get any signs / feedback from the receiver. So even if I know I did a good job, i can still feel unhappy for my why is not completely fulfilled 🙃 What would be your advice?
My why(s) are clarity, love, and problem-solving. I love communicating with others, helping out, and avoiding misunderstandings when at all possible. Keep putting out those good vibes! ❤
You have absolutely “inspired” me with your work. Inspire, to breathe Life IN the breath of Life... 🥰 Your systemic explanations and teachings have blessed my Coaching work.

thank you Simon....what a rich explaination of how to transform our stories of childhood struggles into positives in our adulthood. Compassionate and wise......we need more of these conversations.
Dude I just love it when you talk man.. you keep fascinating and inspiring me in such a mind-blowing way .. My why is "To make a change in the world in such a way that anyone can be who they are and chase their dreams without families and society blocking them"... I need to shorten this sentence and be more specific I guess 😅
Would you consider creating a program for High School kids to help them find their "why". I agree, if we knew our why before randomly choosing a career (and sometimes life path) at a very young age!
We start a business for many reasons. Whether it’s to help people, gain financial freedom or simply to realize our dreams, we all have our own reasons for starting a business. Everyone in business starts with their own reason (or reasons) why. Look at Walt Disney. He started the company because he was not fond of his job and wanted to make something of himself. His dream was to build an amusement park where families could be together and have fun. Or look at Rowling, she started her company because she had an idea for a book but felt it couldn't be completed as a single novel so a world needed to be created for the story of what happened before Harry Potter entered the scene.
Eating and talking? On video? A bit distracting to say the least. I was brought up differently. Maybe this is an American thing? :-) I switched off a minute in. (Just my 2p worth).
Hi Mr Simon, hope you are doing well, Do you know Mr Jiddu Krishnamurti who wrote some books and tried explain people to explain how they are conditioned and divided? And that as a human being people must be free from conditioning. What do you think about his explanations and his books? Thanks in advance.
Read your books and focus on empathy is enlighening. A manager where I work is cynical and believes his staff is purely motivated by money. He considers them "resources" instead of people. Such a shame so many people are in denial of what empathy really is and trying to "fake" empathy - Well people can see through that. If I put forward ideas I get shut down with them being defensive and in denial. So I just play along and pretend they are "right". Such a shame I just started this job and during covid I dare considering to quit as we are all entitled to work in a positive atmosphere and culture.
I was in my twenties when Budweiser Beer commercials made a statement as to WHY ask WHY, when you can drink Bud DRY. And didn't resume again until they no longer produced it. I've been asking WHY they stopped ever since.
Does a why relate to one's MAP (Motivated Abilities Pattern)? I had one done in college - did I find my why through that, or should I still be looking for it?
Hi Simon, I am pleased to report that my 14 year old is having this ‘StrengthsTraining’ as an integral part of their curriculum.. “Live your best Life : Pathways to a successful future.” Morrisby Interviews after a couple of days visiting various practical vs academic upper school learning and then the questionnaire: study of the Pursuit of Happyness.’ Victoria, Australia
My line manager will always ask me what is the solution every time I bring to light any task or issues- do I have to come up with the solution every time I highlight an issue / problem ? I feel like it’s a lazy person’s way od delegating am I wrong
It's scary to think the why doesn't change when we change so much. I feel like I woke up at 25-27 years old, that was the point I went through a career change.
Very nice Simon! Thank you.
"WHY" is such an awesome, positive, and inspiring word!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!$🙏🏽❤✌🏽

That art, who did that?! The woman who does large flower oil paintings? I need to know!!
Why do most leaders not share their skills and knowledge with their staff?

My working why: To use my trauma to help others heal. By sharing my story, I hope to Inspire others to find the courage to find their own life after trauma.
I love this but my why are 19/20 was selfish. My why now at 30 is all about others.
Why...still not able to figure out..worried as I am 38 years old now
Simon sir you are my inspiration ...... Thank you for everything .... Start with why is the best book that I have ever read. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
What about when your Why has been easy to accomplish but life has changed and you are having difficulty finding ways in our world as it is now?
I think my why is to be able of being of added value to anyone or anything. However the feel good for me only comes when I get any signs / feedback from the receiver. So even if I know I did a good job, i can still feel unhappy for my why is not completely fulfilled 🙃 What would be your advice?

Mind-blowing as usual 😁👏👏👏👏👏👏! Thank a lot Simon 🙇♀️

Thank you Jen for asking that question!! I have Borderline Personality Disorder and had the same question!

We worked 1 month for only finding our company's why. İt was a very boring process. But I think it worked.

How do I figure my Why ? What are the basic questions?
Simon Sinek, your insights have changed my mindset and my life for the better! Love listening to your inspiring talks! Thank you from South Africa!
FAIRNESS? And unlimited abundance for all, could that be my why?
Does a why relate to one's MAP (Motivated Abilities Pattern)? I had one done in college - did I find my why through that, or should I still be looking for it?
Why would you be so arrogant to be chewing chips while giving a talk?
You Are Awesome Simon.. This is Lakshmi Raga Rao from Bangalore India
the "do countries have why?" question was a new SPECTACULAR perspective.
Phenomenal
This was absolutely amazing for many reasons. I witness you doing your part to heal the world. It’s working! Keep up The Great Work. 💗🌎💗

I l ❤️ve you sir because you are my best mentor of my life. 👍
Is Why; because I want to help, enough
My line manager will always ask me what is the solution every time I bring to light any task or issues- do I have to come up with the solution every time I highlight an issue / problem ? I feel like it’s a lazy person’s way od delegating am I wrong
Next time you're pointing out a problem do it by proposing the change you want to make. When he asks why you want the change THEN tell him the problem
Ty for all content and being a human
Always inspiring thank you Simon Sinek
You are truly inspiring, Simon!
How can I find my why????!!!
Why? Why you are so cute???😉
Can someone have a 'bad' why?
It's early here in Australia
Ahhh I cannot brlieve!!!
It's scary to think the why doesn't change when we change so much. I feel like I woke up at 25-27 years old, that was the point I went through a career change.
Perhaps new career was serving you why.
You always inspire me 🤗

Thanks Simon!! :)
Hello from sudan ♥️
After all, why not
Why the chips in beginning? does this help in portraying that it's an informal session or does it helps in coping up with anxiety in the beginning?
