      It’s a bit of practice to have your paint the right thickness. Paint to thin creates too thin of a skin and paint to thick can create cracking. Hope you give it a try again and just make your paint slightly thicker. Wish you success!

    Thank you so much for this in depth video. It’s one of the best I have watched and believe me I have watched a lot. ❤ ps After watching some of your videos you mention fibromyalgia I too suffer with that and osteoarthritis, neuropathy a lot going on. So I really wanted to say an extra thank you sometimes life feels hard. I’m loving your videos also u mentioned a cricut machine I bought one but now feel overwhelmed with it. Any simple ideas what to do and make with it would be appreciated. Lots of love ❤️

      Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I do have to watch my energy level when doing all the videos as they are very time consuming as well as trying to answer all the comments the best I can. There is a bit of a learning curve with the Cricut but it’s great for making window cutouts for cards and cutting out the backing for bookmarks. Those would be easier projects to start with. Go into projects in the Cricut menu and find a simple project to try as well.

    I use acryllic skins on a poured canvas to creat a picture, such as trees with leaves or flowers. I do not have a cricut. Also have made domes. Not I am thinking about stenciling etc. great video

      Yes, using skins to make art shapes on canvas is fun for sure! Thanks for watching. So many fun art forms. I get carried away and am always getting interested in something else to explore.

    Great ideas! I’d love to see more 😊 Nice tip on using the palette knife. I’ve been using my fingers and the edges often break.

      Thanks Michelle. Kept thinking there must be a better way to remove the skins. Voila! The palette knife came in handy.

    I'm going to try this soon. I love the idea of abstract art from acrylic skins. So cool. I noticed that some of these resemble cut agate ( I was watching a lapidary [?] cut 'found agates' earlier on utube). Really enjoyed this. Color combinations are so wonderful.

      Yes, the acrylic skins can look like that for sure. You should try it for sure. It’s always a fun surprise of what you can achieve!

    Thanks for your awesome videos, I have learned so much from watching your ways. You are very easy to follow, and so informative. I do have a question, what is causing my paint to bleed into others when drying? I did a red, white and blue theme, which turned out beautifully. Once dried the white was a pink? The whole skin looked less vibrant?
    Thanks!😊

    • @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
      @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts  4 місяці тому +1

      Each paint pigment has its own density. Some paint will rise to the top, middle, or go to the bottom. Density affects how the paint will appear with all the other colors once it is dry. Therefore your white and red pink could change to pink.
      There is a whole science on paint and worth learning if you want to get more into paint pouring.

    I’ve also made magnets out of the skins and domes. I use Diamond glaze to glue the skin to the dome. After that dries, I glue the dome with the skin to a magnet. They make nice refrigerator magnets!

    What does the Floetrol and minwax do to the mixture? I"m not sure if I missed that piece of information. And do you recommend anything to harden the paint skin so it's not so delicate? Or is that what both those materials do? Great video! Thank you!

    • @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
      @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts  6 місяців тому +1

      Floetrol is designed to make paint flow and for acrylic fluid art it helps to create beautiful cell formations. The minwax can create nice cells as well.

      When making skins you do not want them too thick or too thin. Too thick and they may crack and too thin and they may rip. A delicate balance. Acrylic paint is basically a plastic so you do not need to do anything for a top coat.

    So its ok to mix the different brands of paint with the different products on the same skin?

    • @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
      @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts  11 місяців тому

      I haven’t had any issues with using different brands of paint. The more important step is having the paint not too thin of not too thick.

    What can you use for a cell activater , or what is a cell activator ?

    • @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
      @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts  4 місяці тому

      Cells are created in many different ways. You can get cells just using the paint without any added ingredients. You just have to have the perfect thickness or thinness of paint.
      Some additives that create more cells is silicone, dimethicone, min wax etc. Floetrol can also aid in forming cells. Although it’s more of how the paint is handled than the actual floetrol itself.

    How can you tell if a paint is opaque or translucent? Someone said you can’t use all the same paints or they will turn muddy?

    • @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
      @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts  4 місяці тому

      Opaque paints cover and hide what's under them. Transparent (or translucent) paints allow more light to pass through them. They are 'see through'. If you are learning about types of paints and it is not written on the bottle or tube than do some little samples on a scrap piece of art paper.
      Muddiness can also come from over mixing or over working your colours or choosing wrong colours that create brown muddy shades.

    what is the reason for using house paint as base? TIA

    • @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
      @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts  11 місяців тому +1

      The main reason is that it is a lot cheaper. And I’m not sure why but it seems to have a bit of a different reaction with the other paints. I’m not an expert by any means. Saying all that if you want good quality results and want to sell your work than stay with just high quality paints. Some down sides to house paint. It might not have as long as a shelf life as good quality acrylic paints if you want your painting to last more than 10 years. Sometimes house paint doesn’t stick as well to the canvas and can sometimes peel. But if you are new to acrylic pours than it’s great for doing lots of experimenting. There is a lot of controversy over using house paint. Some use it with no problems and others won’t use it. So your choice as you are the artist.
