Lynch is the man, he sounded a lot different than most 80s guitar players. He didn't sweep or play insanely fast licks. His solos always fit the songs perfectly, and his tone is so recognizable.
I discovered Mr Lynch just when I discovered Dokken Crew...AWESOME. I'm just 20 so still a kid, but seing Mr Lynch made me decide to be a GUITARIST...RESPECT!
George Lynch is a legendary guitarist with wicked speed and a demonic emphasis on the diminished flat fifth yet fluid and bluesy. His denial of knowing music theory is just modesty as Randy Rhodes asked him to take over his teaching position and said George was the only guitarist that ever intimidated him. Jake E. Lee said Lynch beat him out for Ozzy's gig and declined. Respect all of these guys for what they gave to guitar. It won't come around again.
I had the amazing opportunity to meet this guitarist at a clinic. It was great and i had him sign my Kamikaze and some other stuff. he is one hell or a nice guy and an amazing guitarist too,
HOLY SHEEP SHIT!!! this is the sam ash in buffalo grove IL, i was the manager for that p.a .dept when george came through for his clinic, we were his first stop. thats cool
wow, SOMEBODY mentioned Chris Oliva. thank you. He deserves to be recognized in the same place as the greats. He was original, and skilled. Just never got any attention sadly.
Just plain brilliant - top of the tree for well over 25 years - I remember buying Tooth and Nail on vinal when it was first released in the UK in 84 - here was someone who could really give Eddy a run for his money.
I really cannot understand that negative comments about Lynch. Its must be jealousy or smth like that. How many of yours played like him ? He has great style and guitar taste. IMO he is gifted one. Respect
Its funny to me how many people talk shit about George now. I'm guessing most of them are little kids or teenagers and weren't even an itch in daddy's pants when this guy was doing his thing in the 80s. This guy was the fucking MAN back in the day, and he's had a career that none of you little bedroom youtube players will ever have. This dude can write a riff and play some pretty badass solos with actual feeling in them, which is something most players just simply cannot do. George is a legend.
Yea Im "old" too, saw Dokken 2 or 3 times back in the mid 80s and they were awesome! Saw Lynch a few years ago and while I love the guy and his studio records, his live show is not what it should be.
This video was recorded with a Sony VX2000. The quality is sooooo much better than what's seen here. The encoding really takes alot away from the original quality. That's one reason George looksred, the other is that they had a stupid red flood light turned on. Why would you use it to begin with????
I remember when George came to a store I was working at for a clinic. As he walks in with all of his stuff in his hand the first thing out of his mouth was 'where is the closest gym'. The guy is serious about staying in shape and works hard at it. Consequently, he is only mildly larger in this vid than when this happened well over 10 years ago. If he was on steroids he would be noticeably bigger by now, no...?
do you know also why george is set apart as a great from every other youtube shredder? taste. groove. style but his VIBRATO! its fucking gold! this the best example of a player with good vibrato and string bending
Shredders and 80's EVH follower types are different things Yngwie, Gilbert, Vai etc..are shredders as they have incredible picking hand abilities that Lynch and most 80s guys can't do, and they will admit it..80's hard rock /metal EVH followers like Rhodes, Lynch, Jake e Lee, Vivian Campbell, Reb Beach, Demartini, Vito Brata, Nuno, etc etc all sound somewhat similar most play super strats with humbuckers but each guy certainly Lynch have their own thing they brought / added to what EVH started
I believe if he was in an idea setting like a studio you would hear his lengendary tone. On a little music store tour how can you expect much from anybody ? I think he sounds great from what he has to work with.
@Maxx61 I absolutely AgreeMan 100%.. You just Know it's George when you hear him Play,It's his Melodic mixing of Minors and Flats Like Apples & Oranges playing.. .Many people just dont Play like that or near His style.Thats Why He Kicks So Much Ass!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lynch Mob, His solo career and Souls of We. And the reason Dokken split up was because Don and Lynch being 100% ego where always fighting with each other.
@MVLINEMAN It's not a song just diffrent Instumental Parts ,He mixes in with all of his Other writingm rom through the Years,He Kicks Complete ASS. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!
If I was a billionaire,I would hire Lynch to play this piece everytime after I have a sucessful bowel movement. This sounds like something they play after you have accomplished victory.
Out of curiosity what did he say about Don? I have been following that feud for years. Man, I have heard so many different reports about his character it covers the whole spectrum of emotions. He must be pretty moody. He did slap five with me though when Dokken played Seattle in '95 so he is cool in my book as well as an incredible player.
This very well be the n00biest thing ever known to man. Is he playing through a backtrack or is their another guitarist playing because it kind of sounds like you can hear the pick hitting the strings.
You know, GL went through his drug years and so did SL as well as NS and WDM, even YJM..What the fuck is VH's problem. He should be clean and sober and still giving us all of his genious and tone like before. Eddie, I love you brother, it's time to get clean and stay clean. I want you to be around for my kids too man. Please take a good look in the mirror and let those old demons die. You are the reason I picked up the guitar in the place. Much Love and Respect. GL is fucking amazing. 54 is what
@lefty99riffs Hi, just a question, what do you mean about picking hand teqhnique? is lynches bad? Just want to know what to do and not to do :P George lynch is my favourite player anyway! :D
There are a thousand sweep pickers on youtube but you would be hard pressed to find any shred guitarist whose style is so easily recognizable as Mr. Scary's. There are faster guitarists, oh sure...no doubt....but damn if there are few and far between who are more tasty. George grooves metal about as good as anyone who has ever played.
Even Kurt crapface Cobain had huge influence on the music world, so they're both great musicians. I don't like Nirvana, but you can't deny the huge impact that band has had on music. Hell, the entire 90's were screwed musically because he made everyone want to strum first-position chords, get high and "make deep music, man". Regardless, they're both great musicians in their own respect. Lynch is technically VASTLY more proficient, but that's just a part of the entire guitar "package" needed.
I'm glad to hear you are a fan after all. i dont believe it to be "aimless" in any way. His playing is awesome given the situation. He's in a music store for g's sake? The track he's jamming to fits well with the licks he's playing. Since you are such a fan and have all his guitars, post some playing. Put up, or shut up. I'd love to see you play at his level. We're all dying to see.
Damn is he really 51? he seems pretty young to me haha guitar gods never die and people like George Lynch are Inmortal haha pretty cool guitar clinic...I wish I could go to one of those someday...damn he looks so much better than eddie van halen and they dont have to much diference of ages dont they?.well anyway hes great on of my heroes..peace locos
Hey MarkusMarcus I really prefer the 80's almost shredder guys over the Yngwie's but I love it all.....especially Joe Satriani for all instrumental guitar stuff..if you want to see what I mean about picking check out the various paul gilbert lessons, vinnie moore lessons and yngwie lessons on you tube and you will see what I mean about picking, cause there's a difference between the 80's guys like Lynch and the next wave not saying its better but its more technically involved PEACE keep jammin'
@Maxx61 actually he's extremely fast...have you heard the studio version of the solo from Kiss of death? It doesn't get any faster than that....I don't care if your Yngwie or Batio.
Sure the sound quality deters..and it does hugely spoil the video...but thats george playing there...thats his sound..and thats what its about...thats what make him and the rest of them stand out...plus there out there doing it...theres million of great technical guitarists out there...all you have to do is look on youtube..but for some reason a lot of them are sat in there week old crusty undies in there bedrooms bitchin about the guys workin it...!
if he really is as inspired by tone creation as he always says, then maybe that's the missing link. i worked so hard on chops and technique- it maybe time to become that gear head and pedal hoarder thats dying to come out! hehe
all you haters you do know that lynch was doing two handed tapping before eddie...and im sure you know he taught at randy rhodes mothers music school right...yeah thats what i thought you buncha ignorant haters...by the way how many albums and how many magazines have you been featured in
Untouchable when hes in the zone like this.
I've always enjoyed the emotion of the chops and phrases
Lynch is the man, he sounded a lot different than most 80s guitar players. He didn't sweep or play insanely fast licks. His solos always fit the songs perfectly, and his tone is so recognizable.
He plays with emotion. It's what I've always admired him for.
Mr George Lynch is the king you can't get no better than that soul and feeling in his playing and that is a gift from GOD
I discovered Mr Lynch just when I discovered Dokken Crew...AWESOME. I'm just 20 so still a kid, but seing Mr Lynch made me decide to be a GUITARIST...RESPECT!
lynch has that fiery passion to his playing that you can feel alot more than others is what lured me to his playing
George is the greatest, and this proves it. He has speed, tone, feel, he cant be mistaken!!!!
I've now listened to this 12 times in a row!!!
The best lead sound out there!! Love his style , too.
Jake E. George rocks just as well as he always did - he is one of the most underrated guitarists alive.
i was at this one, and bought one of the modules in his rig! he even signed the box LOL.... wish there was more to this video!
Love how George gets in his zone!!!
I had the amazing opportunity to meet this guitarist at a clinic. It was great and i had him sign my Kamikaze and some other stuff. he is one hell or a nice guy and an amazing guitarist too,
agree - you can always tell when it's George playing. Very distinctive tone and technique.
My favorite when growing up...
Damn, that trademark Lynch tone & vibrato, just as wicked as it gets.
This guy influenced me into body building and music. He is a fantastic genius.
Wowww this is one of his better clinic vids for sure.
Just never got any attention sadly.

he's awesome..I saw these guys live back in i think like 86/87 amazing
Thank you for this. VERY cool to see.
i agree, 80's gorge is cooler than present george but i still love his playing
His tone is so clean and fluid
He demonstrates perfectly what you can do with tapping, he gives it feeling!
OH!! George is the best guitar hero in my heart!!
First bit he plays is insanely amazing
I think George Lynch, Warren DeMartini and the late great Chis Oliva from Savatage are the most soulful shredders ever!
Great video. Thanks for postin
2:01 - i love this seconds
i don't think it was boring. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
A man of endless solo's, I need to develop that some day lol.
Killer video ! Lynch is the man
wow, amazing we have to show him some repect
2.56 sounds wicked!!!!
Its the 12/15 of the G string and the same on the H string!!!
I love playing that on my Ibanez RG350DX with Dimarzios!!!
George Lynch is one of the most under rated guitarist!
He is so gutzy , precise and fast, he could give a lot of gutarists a run for there money
Yeah this was awesome. Go George. \m/
Very nice, I love Lynch!
I really cannot understand that negative comments about Lynch. Its must be jealousy or smth like that. How many of yours played like him ? He has great style and guitar taste. IMO he is gifted one.
Respect
George kicks asses!!!
it's what you don't play that makes the difference, george is one of the best, his note selection is spot on. he is fucking brilliant..
Awesome! Always inspired me!
George is the tone wizard. I wish he would put out some Buckethead style work, it would most likely be epic.
Its funny to me how many people talk shit about George now. I'm guessing most of them are little kids or teenagers and weren't even an itch in daddy's pants when this guy was doing his thing in the 80s. this is so sickk i mean realy sick so sick lick wouuuuuuu man awesome just awesome

If he was on steroids he would be noticeably bigger by now, no...?
Great solo.
he looks like such a normal guy yet he shreds like a god
dude, what are you talking about,
im saying that hes a really amazing guitar player.
as a matter of fact hes my favorite guitar player.
do you know also why george is set apart as a great from every other youtube shredder? taste. groove. style but his VIBRATO! its fucking gold! this the best example of a player with good vibrato and string bending
George- these clinics are senseless. keep your chops up on the road man! Bring on Lynch Mob!
Well I guess it is time to put this legend in my collection.
Still kicks ass. Bulking up too it looks like :)
mr. could kill me in one punch, aka george lynch here is a fantastic guitar player haha

I will post more of this clinic soon...
George said these songs he plays thru-out this clip are just little odds and ends he's come up with over the years...
Lynch Mob, His solo career and Souls of We.
And the reason Dokken split up was because Don and Lynch being 100% ego where always fighting with each other.
man he iss the coolest!
@MVLINEMAN It's not a song just diffrent Instumental Parts ,He mixes in with all of his Other writingm rom through the Years,He Kicks Complete ASS. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!
You are correct. My information was erroneous.
The best...ever.
sick tone

@lefty99riffs Hi, just a question, what do you mean about picking hand teqhnique? is lynches bad? Just want to know what to do and not to do :P George lynch is my favourite player anyway! :D
@Lynch34 I MAKE IT SIMPLE.THE MOST EXPLOSIVE GUITAR EVER EXISTED.

Warren Demartini (WDM)
I was just tring to save space.
REMINDS ME OF SWEET CHILD OF MINE ERA.
I'm glad to hear you are a fan after all. i dont believe it to be "aimless" in any way. His playing is awesome given the situation. He's in a music store for g's sake? It´s the same string!!!
The H part is from the old musicwriting I think!!!
I do not particularly like his tone, but I don't deny his chops, which are great.
