One of the purposes of that kind of preamps is to get the chance to get a good sounding balanced signal to send it to the PA if you want. It's a good option when you're playing in small gigs. One of the advantages of doing this way is that you always have your sound instead the amp you're using. This is very usefull when you must play with crappy bar amps. I've played several times using only my bass and a DI.
@COBbassmaster If you're looking for something over the top then maybe the VT isn't for you but I find that it gets an incredibly tubey sounding mild overdrive characteristic of Ampeg amps.
Darkglass doesn't have two channels, fx loop, speaker simulator.. but it has a killer distorted sound. If you're lookign for a good distorted sound , then Darkglass. I don't use a lot of distortion so my needs are different than yours... but when it's time to overdrive , Darkglass microtubes vintage is my choce.
Does have quite a bit of string/fret noise that distracts from the actual sound of the pedal. (also you seem to 'pat' the strings between notes so that add even more string noise). I would suggest either raising your action or use a bass with a higher action as we're previewing the pedal and not the bass or amp or cab. Also using a passive bass is more revealing.. Thanks for the review though....
@alcatrazescapee Ok but the VT bass is just a preamp, with the EBS valve drive the sound is more hot, Round and powerful because there are a tube in the pedal.. no?
Unllke Sans Amp this doesnt have the splish splash sound that annoys the crap out of me.Im sold on EBS. its affiliated with Mesa Boogie. Enough said. Its not found at Guitar Center generally, so it must be good.All one has to do is listen to Remco Hendrix here on UA-cam to know any negs about this are from amatuers anyway.
The good: gives an idea that this pedal is capable of A LOT of things. Nice playing, too. The bad: everything else. Quick (frantic?) tweaking of controls, without any explanation - what was tweaked. We do hear sound changing; and the changes are nice and wide-ranging - but what are they? The pedal is, as EBS describes it, a "Swiss army knife", and it's obvious - but this demo does a poor job of walking through the options. All I walked away with: there's lots of different sounds that can be made with it. Bought it anyway :), but not because of this vid: other people's recommendations (on talkbass.com).
doesn't "do" a right lot other than have a sound crap & distorted Knob. shhesh! how much is this? come on EBS even Dick Turpin wore a mask. Or should I really say" its not for me"? ( yes I should)
Horrible rattly distorted sound. Sorry but it just really doesn't sound good. Maybe not the fault of the unit & may lie with the amp & bass set-up. Hardly a demo.

this sounds like my nervous system, i love it

Distortion is for guitar man..😆
@COBbassmaster You might want to look into a VT Bass by Sansamp. It emulates the Ampeg sound really well.
Ok, EBS is a great mark, but thinking by the price one Behringer Pre Amp Modeller BDI21 equate in quality. I'm think.
can you use the headphone out while use the DI output or the parallel output?
yes
I need a distortion, then darkglass!
Correct or not?
Weißt du zufällig ob der Link-Ausgang an der rechten Seite auch gemuted wird? Wenn nicht könnte man ihn auch als tuner-out verwenden! :)
Thanks for helping me rule out the EBS microbass; I didn't hear anything that sounded like "my sound."
Paul Dershem that because he doesn't have your fingers... That's where the sound comes from...
no
Hey, for you the best pedal to make a sound like an ampeg overdrive sound, it's the EBS Valve Drive or the micro bass?
@COBbassmaster no!

Michael Curtis Ruiz couldn't disagree more..
Agree! Too much string noise to get a good sound here
@@cooleyballs1 have you got a reason to disagree? would love to hear it...at least for my education....

Классная вещь!
On/Off, On/Off, stop fucking with the dials.
Hi, what pick up are you using in this demo?

It's a DI box... there's not much more to be said.
@alcatrazescapee Ok thanks :)
I don't like it.where is the notes?It sounds like signal generator.. :(.

Your speakers probably suck cause it sounds great on my computer! lol
Yeah maybe, I realize that EBS products are highly regarded. I always fancied getting their envelope filter!
