what exactly are you doing with each strike, for some parts it looks like you peeled away a whole portion while for others it looks like you just kind of made this v-shaped valley. Are you peeling away bits of the leather one each stroke? I'm a total newbie looking into working with leather.

You don't use any water to soften up the leather?

In the next video (part 4) you have given texture around the artwork, how did you do that?

      Hi Kent,
I used a background tool, there are various types can be found at various places including eBay, Tandy leather etc.
      Thanks for watching.
      Cheers john.

Hi, really appreciate that lightening fast response. I am about to try and make a new saddle for my 74 Shovelhead. Do you know if Stingray leather is suitable for artwork?

      Hi Kent,
As far as I'm aware no you can't stamp sting ray it just does not have the depth or consistency to hold deep enough impression,
Most of the work I've seen people use veg tan for the top so it can be stamped and any skin for sides ( snake,Ray, ostrich,) this does make for a good looking seat.
      Hope this helps cheers john
