Heaven probably sounds more Middle Eastern, considering Christianity is a Middle Eastern, Semitic religion, despite Catholicism's heavy European pagan influence.
paper kay - talent, maybe, but singing like this (read: “genuine singing”) takes much training, disciplined practice, and years of high level experience.
@paper kay, on youtube, insta or any plattforms you will often find perfect moments, filmed many times and cutted perfectly. but its hard work (filming and performing)! this group exists for 15 years, so they had a long way with performances and training and studying music and singing.
singing is legit a fitness thing! a lot of it comes down to having enough air so you're never struggling, which means you need good lung capacity and good breathing technique. I even have to watch when I eat, so that my stomach isn't too full or too empty, otherwise my lungs don't expand as far! (I'm not a professional or anything lol, just studied a little bit of music + in a student choir)
The moment they sang their first note, I was completely enchanted at how incredible, almost angelic, their vocals are... never have I imagined that it is possible to be controlling ones vocals like that... I ended up listening 3 more times... great job ladies... wishing you all the best from Singapore...!
Same. Having listened to a lot of choral music over the years and sung in a few groups myself, I've come to appreciate how there is an additional dimension to a vocal group which is not just talent, practice and skill, but the selection and matching of the members' voices to each other. You can have two people with amazing, brilliant voices, incredible talent and skill, and vast experience, but their tones might just not match. This group is exception not only for their performance but for how well they've matched their voices.
anything written by ola gjeilo is so amazing. i had the amazing opportunity to sing at carnegie hall with ola gjeilo and it was just such a surreal experience.
Isabella Lupescu i am going to a choral festival in prague in july 2021(postponed a year)and the sunrise mass by him is being performed. we will be performing rutters mass of the children though
This part 1:03 - 1:30 gives be the chills every single time. That harmony (or however it is called) between the soprano and low alto is so beautiful. It is as if the coolest gothic cathedral was transformed into a human voice.
It's so heartbreaking to listen to good pieces on UA-cam sound bad, so coming across this was amazing. I felt close to as moved as I could have been live. Thank you!
OMG the dissonance at at 2:09 and the silence and the entrance at 2:19. Just makes my heart sing. The rests are oft neglected, but you did a beautiful job.
I just got back from a tour with the Norwegian Ladies Chorus (Sons of Norway Leif Erickson Lodge). The beauty of a capella singing like this is being able to tune each chord to perfection. Hearing this when we sang, and when our host choruses sang, was a heartbreakingly beautiful experience! We sang Ole Gjeilo’s ‘Seasons’, just amazing!
Exquisite. Close to perfection. They seem to have complete telepathy with each other. The soprano entry on "pulchra es' at 3:29, the most beautiful pianissimo. Words fail.
Es ist zum weinen schön. Und jedesmal, wenn ich es höre denke ich, es sind Sphärenklänge...... Wunderbar arrangiert, mit hochprofessionellen Sängerinnen!! Danke dafür!! ❤️
It feels that I spent my entire day listening to that music and I still have to go back to it. This is so amazingly performed. It has been a long time since I didn't hear such a marvelous, honest and touching performance.
This is the best version I've heard. That suspension between 0:52 and 1:03 has me tearing up everytime!!! Vielen vielen dank Mädels, außerordentlich gut gesungen!!!!
Thank you for showing actual facial expressions! =D Too many ensembles sing beautifully but then look dead inside and that subtracts from their performance. Also, well done on this beautiful piece - you really did it justice.
In this crazy world we are living in there are just a few things left that can still make you proud for being human.. This is one of them! Thanks for upload.
I am from Iran and this song has been one of my favorites for years. It's not earthly, it's divine. I want to immagine these transcendental voices would one day sing the hymn of freedom of Iran.
I support a charity which helps people to worship free from persecution, including those who have had to flee from Iran. Whatever your faith, may God bless you and bring freedom to your country.
The curtains separating earth from heaven open just a bit. A beam of pure light shines through, confirming that there is a marvelous reality beyond this realm.
The way your voices harmonize should be illegal, it's too beautiful!! I can't get enough of 1:05, the contrast between the highest and the lowest parts is too majestic. Also altos, your low notes make me cry every time, I'll never be able to sing this wonderfully ;D
As mentioned earlier in a post- That dissonant drop in the chord between 2:02 and 2:10- It just pauses time in the most beautiful way- That is precisely where my heart lives. I haven't heard that part pronounced quite like that by any other artists. Wonderful!
Wow, I'm just crying my eyes out here. It went straight into my heart. I've known and loved this piece for a few years now, but this performance is absolutely beautiful, perhaps the most beautiful one I've heard.
They’re all so crucial to delivering this song so beautifully. But the last two holding that note and switching off without the note dying is on another level! Do they do concerts because shut up and take my money! 😅
This amazes me on so many levels. Just how beautiful their voices work together - each and every one pronounced and strong, but so gentle at the same time and interwoven. Sometimes i hear clerically inspired pieces like this where even a soft sopran comes through so much stronger and everything else gets toned down to very pleasant noise. The clarity is beautiful and I enjoyed looking at the expressions of the singers. Thank you for this video and sharing such a beautiful version of the song.
Have recommended this (and the Ubi Caritas) to our choir director. I only hope that we -- a mediocre but earnest choir in an Episcopal church the Boston area -- can do it justice.
I'm so grateful for all of you, this piece has become a refuge for me. I like to play it on a loop so that my room is decorated with the sound of angels. All my love and thanks.
Our choir performed this piece in a prestigious competition, and we won in the regional round. One of my favorite pieces of Ola Gjeilo definitely, aside from Ave Generosa.
that alto in white is really dropping it there :O amazing
Julian Hombrebueno what is her name????? :’(
@@zuzannapiotrowska9647 Helene Erben
@@stevenbauers51 is it the one in white?
Isn't the one in white the other soprano? Seems like sopranos are on the outermost edges.
Aldebaran I believe from left to right is soprano to alto
if this isn't what heaven sounds like i'm going to be so disappointed
It has to be better
Yes, it would be even better
Heaven probably sounds more Middle Eastern, considering Christianity is a Middle Eastern, Semitic religion, despite Catholicism's heavy European pagan influence.
@@sayckeone cool cool, middle eastern music is good too
I wonder is God a soprano or alto?
It's spooky how some people can sing. I can't even talk well, or even whistle. Like they have a whole extra set of lungs or something. It's magical.
paper kay - talent, maybe, but singing like this (read: “genuine singing”) takes much training, disciplined practice, and years of high level experience.
Its just breathtaking isnt it ,no instruments or anything just voices
That makes me feel good. Thank you.

The first time I listen the SSAA version, it's so amazing.

I loved that the soprano & the alto is singing the same here 1:04
The Alto in white sounds amazing!
The final few measure with the sustained "pedal tone" as the outside voices come back in are absolutely chilling!

2:07 That harmony. I cried. 2:19 That perfect timing and jump of key, found by all of them to perfection. I sobbed.
I love how they are so confident in their parts that they can stand in mixed formation. It's heavenly and it's so moving for sure.

All credit to these performers for such a heavenly sound, but also to the architect of that church - what amazing accoustics!
