The best presentation ever on railcars.I am 93 and wish I could go on a trip. Keep up the good work and lets see more good events.I salute you from Sacramento,Calif. 5-17-2023.
Hmmm, I was born in Tupper Lake, 1960. We moved to Los Angeles in 1965 and I've never been back home. It was on my bucket list... But, I doubt I'll ever get back to pay respect to my Dad at his grave. Last time I saw him was when Mom left him in 1965. Oh well, rest in peace Dad, I'll see ya on the other side.
UA-cam suggested this video, I like a bit of trains, I clicked in, and wow, what a ride! Production levels are great, and the history lessons with video editing/graphics was a real treat. Thanks for the spin.
I had the privilege of being on this trip and I'm amazed at how much I learned from this video. Excellent production Angela, I'll be reviewing this before our next rip over this line.
Is this a trip that the public can sign up to do/buy tickets for? I'd love to take my family on this. My children are fascinated by trains (and myself as well, honestly) and the views are stunning! But I totally understand things like this being rare and likely hard to toss your name in the hat for.
What a wonderfully produced and presented video! Chock full of reference information - and the view! My Lord.... Thank you for sharing this with the world (and rekindling my interest in those little "rail speeders", too 🙂). - Ed on the Ridge
Thank you for the perfect seat. Id love to do this. But you know how disabillitys can be. Thats why I watch these videos. They get me places I can never go.
If it weren't for your videos I'd never be able to see such beauty. The scenery was gorgeous! I'll be 70 next week and since I'm handicapped all I ever do nowadays is armchair travel but that's okay because with people like you it's worth it! Thanks for taking me along. The trip was wondrous! 🚂🚋🚋🚋
Thanks for watching! So glad you enjoyed it. Hope you had a wonderful birthday :) Our excursion in New Hampshire will be out within a couple of weeks. Stay tuned.
That is an amazing documentary. Well done with attention to detail. The highlights, the music, the timing. The viewer is able to immerse themselves into the experience. Very interesting historical kept my interest. Great trip see all the side shots as well, crossing roads, safety meetings, doodle bugs being prepared. I liked the little dust on the b&w images as well. Thanks for the hard work. Doug L.
Great fun and nice to see no breakdowns occurred on the journey... In New Zealand the motorised 4 man track inspection and worker transports are called "Jiggers" because they have no cabin structure, are hard riding ...and you are "jiggered" after a long journey on them.... I lived near a railway that used these until the branch lines were torn up.... the one I lived near suffered that fate in in 1967.... a short sighted move that still haunts railway enthusiasts and tourist operators to this day...
Sorry to hear about that branch line. It is so nice when we can keep slices of history alive. If nothing else, it make folks appreciate of what has come before. Thanks for watching.
No words can express my thanks for posting this video. My grandfather was an air brake inspector for the Boston and Maine R.R. his whole life, so I've loved trains since I was very small. This is something I've always wanted to do, but now at 72 years old I'll settle for these wonderful videos and ride along in spirit. Many thanks.
I have never seen (and I have reviewed many) a video that more appropriately highlighted the very scenic nature of the Adirondack Railroad (previously the Adirondack Division of the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad) since it was recently restored to Tupper Lake NY. in 2022 by New York State. Not only was the scenery superbly documented, but the editing, maps, and narration were first class all the way. One truly feels that one was actually sitting in one of the track cars enjoying the trip. Thank you so much for this presentation. Question: How much exposed footage was not used in making this presentation, and could that be presented in another video, as you have documented the line beautifully.
Thank you for your kind words. There were hours of footage to choose from multiple cars as well as my own. There will be another excursion on the Adirondack railroad in early May. Perhaps I will post all the raw footage as one pass. Stay tuned!
This is very cool. I owned a cabin and property until 2018 that abutted this railroad 1 mile north of Forestport Station. I never rode the railroad, but this makes me wish that I had. Excellent production!
Thank you for watching! I grew up downstate. I had never been to this area prior to the excursion. The landscape and Fall colors were stunning! Glad you like the video.
17JUL2023- just viewed this, excellent production. Easy photography to watch and very informative. Toughly enjoyed. Dan Kerr, Bruce Mines, Ontario, Canada.
What a wonderful -- and colorful! -- trip through history! I felt like the world's luckiest time traveler, getting to go back and forth between now and "the Land of Ago," as Stephen King calls the past in his book '11/22/63.' Thanks so much for sharing this amazing video with all of us! I loved it!
I am 76 and grew up near Syracuse and have been all over the country. I think the Adirondacks are the most beautiful part of the country. I have taken the Adirondack Scenic train a few times. I also enjoy riding a bicycle but to me it is a shame to tear up rails instead of being able to enjoy a bebeautiful ride from Utica to the Canadian border. You can build bicycle trails but they will never rebuild these rails.
the google maps bits were a really nice touch, i don't even like trains that much but i was compelled to watch the tiny trains and the very very decent editing, GJ!
Very well done and enjoyable. There are some many things that take up our time. Time wasted that can’t never be replaced. This video however was a pleasure to spend time viewing. As winter sets in upstate NY it makes me long for spring already. It is a terrible shame that they can’t will not figure out how to put trails beside old railroads instead of ripping them up. I guess the environmentalist with bicycles and running shoes have the squeakier wheel in Albany.
One of the best videos I’ve watched in 2023! I’m not a big train buff but loved this video and all of the history that’s included. Thank you from Michigan!
@@railtime9872 yes, I went on the Conway Scenic Railroad's Mountaineer excursion on October 8th last year, and fall colours in the White Mountains are beautiful. 🍁🍂

So cool. I live near Balsam, NC and their claim to fame is that until the station was demolished, it was the highest railroad station in the Eastern US (3,304'). Topton NC, which is on the GSMR line, is 2,654', but again, no more operable station there. Dillsboro, NC is 2,060', and is still served by the GSMR...they might have 26' on you!

It is has been a wonderful hobby. We are looking forward to the day where we can retire and take the motorcar across the country and ride some rails out west.
Amazing video! Scenery was spectacular! I love the fact that these vehicles have been restored. Historical information in the video compliments the beauty. Thanks.
Thank you. I really enjoyed learning about the history of this rail line. The local librarians and museum curators were very generous with their time and assets.
Thank you for sharing, the whole journey was interesting, I wondered what happened to the structures, fires perhaps its great to see some still standing and being used...the little motor cars are amazing, we don't have anything like this here in Australia...
