A hell of a lot more interesting than the patch job fix GW are calling an "Index" - Nice work Spider - They look fun and very playable without any OP abilities that normally can be a byproduct of custom made rules.
@@tabletoptactics do you plan to work on the thousand sons next, many people complain about the lack of phykic dreadnoughts in the army making them almost not worth bringing, which is odd considering they do exist
@Luciusthestorms I haven’t updated it since the game. There are a few things I would change already, such as re-rolls 1s to hit in combat or ranged attacks instead of the +1WS or +1BS. I would have to take a look at icons too :)
I would love to look at the Thousand Sons, I’ve always loved them in the lore. My next project though is a new way to play 40k as a plugin to Poorhammer’s Horde Mode or potential stand alone game type of its own. That should be revealed here soon :)
i feel people would rather play by tabletop tactics rules instead of the official due to the fact these rules were made by fans who understand the army better than GW will ever be able to
Others here mentioned this as well: the +1 to ballistics skill seems very strong. A possible suggestion for balance would be that for shooting in that turn, the unit must pass a leadership test (perhaps with some sort of bonus) or not be able to take advantage of it. This kinda fits the them of the army and some of the other rules. The flavor being that they cranked the noise so loud that even they got distracted. The idea could apply to any other rule/strat as a minor balance shift.
Haven't watched yet but read the rules and they're really cool - the Revelry in Discord enhancement especially is an awesome idea! Interesting use of battleshock
Having had a watch and a read, I think its a cracking effort at homebrew rules. Hoooooowever, my immediate feeling is its overtuned slightly. Army wide ignore modifiers is hellishly strong. Especially into Eldar for example where their entire defensive agency is built largely around modifiers, especially when combined with + to hit, or also ignore cover. I would probably replace the ignore modifiers with something else but I can't say what, thematically, that would be. Criticals to hit and wound on 5s maybe? Fatal Sonancy felt cheap. The ability to throw out mortal wounds is still very strong. The change I'd make however is make it cheaper and better, go off on 3s but one use per battle. The strats however all feel on point. I'd possibly change sonic grenades to -1 to hit on the charging unit when they attack, rather than -2 to charge. But thats just an opine, it certainly isn't broken. Hellbrute change looks good. Minor addendum needed on the elixirs. My assumption is the +1 strength is melee only? That's my take on the rules and honestly think you've done a great job with both this and the Harlequin detachments and would love to see you all take a crack at some other armies that are sat waiting for codices.
That's a really cool homebrew however I do have a concern: the +1 to ballistic (and I think also weapon even if it didn't came out during this play) seems to be a bit much, it gives a lot of fire power especially considering the "ignore malus" rule. I suggest a fix with: reroll 1s to hit for ranged/melee weapons.
I dont know if its been said but +1 to WS/BS alongside ignore modifiers is crazy good, maybe rerolling 1s would be a better option. Also the main rule is like the doctrine equivalents many armys have but instead of 3 for 3 turns its 5 for 5, I would drop the FNP and the +1 move if I was making the decision. I think bringing that in line and fixing the +WS/BS thing would make a really solid but balanced ruleset in line with what we see elsewhere. Regardless its great work and I hope we get something this interesting when the book eventually drops.
The Srar Lance song and the fit of laughter that followed are shining examples of why I still watch this channel when I've given up on almost all other battle report channels. You guys have fun and it makes it fun.
Really great rules Lawrence! I think the only thing I would change is have any leader that can lead chosen can lead noise marines, so you can have a sorcerer or Fabius Bile as well. I can't wait to try these rules myself!
Amazing battle ! Love the content and the amount of fun you guys have when playing. I love to see the emperor´s children on the battlefield in all their glory! I really want to paint some myself but i am new to the hobby and i cant find any like the ones you guys have.... Keep the good content up .

I love your emperor's children army, Lawrence. It inspired me to start my own. I'm building it cautiously because I don't know what would be included in a codex but I'm very excited.

Been saying it forever, 40K can be easily fixed from Community ruling and homebrew, only tryharders and gatekeepers are against it, happy to see a pillar and expert stepping up to the plate to lead the way, well done!
I do this with my group. We play 4th ed and have added new units, change point costs, and added different rules to make our perfect edition. It's the most fun we have had with 40k since starting in 3rd edition.
I love these rules ya made! They aren't OP, but they're clearly pretty tough, but very cool. Also using a lot of staple rules we know and repeating some stratagems well.
I think Lawrence has made a great detachment. I'd like to see it against a better matchup. It literally seems to negate every Eldar advantage at a time when they already have equal attacks at less hit and wound chance on more fragile platforms. This game wasn't as close as the players seemed to think it was.
That Emperor's Children army looks so good. Today bit's arrived to glue an idea for a warband but seeing this I feel in the eye's of Slaanesh i'm going to lack perfection

I really enjoy your Community Index for Emperor's Children. It all feels very balanced and thematic. I'm especially enamored with the name for your army rule, "Adorn the Canvas Eclectic." Brilliant! I was curious about your Strategem, "Intoxicating Allure." Did you consider making it a dice roll to prevent an enemy unit from Falling Back instead of forcing a Desperate Breakout?
Fantastic and flavorful rules - you really DID do GW's job. Love this for constructive ways of criticizing the official laziness, much like common sense and balanced D&D homebrew.
I have a question: on minute 1:01:00 in the Aeldari turn you are attacking Noise Marines with Jain Zar and howling banshees in an attached unit. When you resolve Jain Zar attacks you use the Aeldari reroll and then you use it again with the hit roll of the banshee Exarch. Is it correct? Because I thought that as an attached unit you could use only one reroll, because core rules say that attached unit count as one single unit. Thank you
A great game! Love these custom rules for the Emperor's Children! I do have a warhammer related question, but it's not about the game. Do you folks have any interest in playing Wrath and Glory for your next TTRPG?

Greetings from Germany Great to see the EC Rules. I like it. Go on and add Fulgrim. And maybe a EC Sonic Version of the Forgefiend. Or a Sonic Version of a tank.
About Fatal Sonancy, I think 20 pts is probably too much actually, given that for free you have access to the grenade strat. I guess the only difference between them is that you can use that in addition to the Grenades strat and presumably in combat. But it's also possible that you can not get any mortal wounds out of it, even over multiple turns, so that's why I don't think this is worth it. Perhaps just change it to a 20pts item that you just automatically inflict D3 mortal wounds on a target if within range. As to all your special rules in general. It kinda just feels you have taken essentially the Blessing of Khorne mechanic and made it your own with a bit of Emperor's Children flair. It's interesting I suppose, but honestly I would probably just take the Feel No Pain response the entire game through. I mean, at some point being BS2+ but ignoring modifiers to hit feels just superfluous, and while the WS or BS change is cool (but once again ignoring to hit modifiers in conjunction with that feels, while not OP does feel lacklustre in comparison) I can't really think of any situation where I would want that over the fnp, even the small fnp anyway (I am trying to think of other sources that give fnp within the army).
Thanks for the feedback :) It is quite similar to the grenade strat, which is what makes it a little more tricky to keep unique and balanced. I’ll have a think :)
@@tabletoptactics i know you say in the video that you hope GW is watching it or something along those lines.. if i were you i would make sure they saw it by sending it in :D just saying :)

Very good battle rerport! These EC rules seem so offical, and awesome. :) GW use Spider's idea! Though i wish there was more focus on other aspects of slaanesh, not just sound. On a side note, it so irritating that Asuryani are called Aeldari in the codex, the same as the name of the whole race. It makes Dark Eldar/Druhkari as if they aren't Aeldari. So confusing.
Actually, Dark Eldar do have the aeldari keyword too, it comes up when playing an Ynnari army that can have up to half the army as Dark Eldar as the detachment rule and many of the stratagems can target any Aeldari unit including the dark eldar (most rules that let you include other factions, like daemons in CSM, don’t work like this). Very useful to get those rerolls on dark lances
@@xandermcdonald8543 Agree. :) I'm aware of them havig the Aeldari keyword, but the names are misleading. Aeldari is the name of the whole race not just Asuryani.
