Thus far undefeated, Chef returns with his hyper potent hypercrypt legion led by the menace of the double c’tan to take on the Spider and the Psychic might of the Grey Knights.

Watching Chef and Spider go at it is a true clash of the titans(lol), and a tactical masterclass for their armies (pity they don't play my chosen forces).
As a GK and Necron player it doesnt get better than watching my armies being played by two skilled players! This was epic!!
Can I ask which do you recommend starting? I'm new to the game and interested in both armies for first army
@@collincarlson3932 I would suggest Necrons. They have a good modern range of models, a few different players styles and showcase all 40k elements. GK are an elite army with an old model range and quite a high skill army that takes a lot to learn.
As a movement shenanigans enjoyer I don't know who to root for! May the cheesiest win!

Grey knights don't get a whole lot of love, much less a whole lot of wins, so seeing them get more matches is everything to me rn

Fun game, good showcasing for each army. I personally prefer Canoptek Court, with Szeras and a CTan. Szeras' aura and rerolls with the tesla immortals, or even gauss immortals is so good. Szeras is basically a CTan, but gets rerolls and can be protected by strats. Wraiths get rerolls and infiltrate, plus the movement strat is really good with them. Doomstalkers with rerolls and a spyder for the FNP. Some heavy Lokhusts to pop vehicles/monsters. Maybe Hypercrypt is stronger/more competitive, but I just love rolling dice and the court gives so many rerolls.

@@bradleygunther5722 GK are not broken. They have one play style which is thematic and requires incredibly high skill to pull off. It can be countered.
If they were broken you’d see them at every top table like Necrons, Aeldari, Sisters, CSM etc.

This looks like an epic battle to write about or see animated or something. Two armies chasing each other by teleporting through time and space (or tumbling through the warp)

Callidus Assassin has always strikes first. Should have attacked before the Wraiths.

What colours are used for that Ceramic effect on the Wraiths? I love it!
Great Batrep! GK are one of my favourite armies at the moment! Deep strike does count as a normal move however so you can use mists to get away from it!
The Designers Commentary explicitly states units arriving from Deep Strike cannot trigger abilities and Stratagems that are used after a unit makes a Normal Move 🙂 -Chef

nice terrain and nice backdrop display. had the same problem of the carpenters laying the LED strips leaning towards the insides and turns out the miniatures displayed look really dark. was it on purpose for studio recording purposes?

Could go either way on football kicking. In a way, you cede control of the objective by leaving. If you sticky it, it would be different.
the callidus strike first/precision might have taken that sneaky technomancer
Ahhh we completely forgot about Strike First 🤦♂️. Though if we'd remembered, I'd have just had the Technomancer 100% behind the ruin footprint and thus out of LOS, so Precision wouldn't have been usable -Chef
Do all the wraiths have the vicious claws only if they're damage 2? Are the whip coils just decorative?

Turn 2 for necrons when they precisioned crowe: he reduces the damage to 0 for the first failed save each turn. (foresight of the prognosticars)

At 46:06, you guys bring up activating Canoptek Protocols for an additional FNP 4+ - I’m unfamiliar with this, where does that come from?

Where does it say the purifier squad can shoot all their weapon profiles? I thought only monsters and vehicles could do that
this terrain looks epic but does this setup favor shooting armies or its as good as completive as good looking?
Well balance it for both. All of the scenery blocks also count as LOS blocking, so it’s a pretty competitive setup too.

As a C’tan aficionado (and Wraiths, and Destroyers, and Immortals) for many years already and in the Index, its great to see them have a day in the sun. It's less great to see them everywhere because they're just too efficient. Gotta own when they're too much though 😅 -Chef

Not 100% sure but it looked like necrons in round 4 deep struck onto objectives which I thought the mission rule didnt allow.
You can't deep strike onto Objectives in No Man's Land or your opponents Deployment Zone, but as the Objective was in mine, per the Scrambler Fields it was allowed. This was noted in a pop up on the top down view when it happened 🙂 -Chef

As for GK, clean your suits, you muddled sticks.
Not that it mattered, but just want to point out that you forgot to use Foresight of the Prognosticars on Crowe, meaning that the first time he would lose the 2 wounds, he would instead have received none. The Devil Crowe is on 3 wounds remaining, not 1 ;)

I believe it is a hold over from when sisters, GK and inquisitor were different arms of the inquisition. I know that was the lore during 5th ed
@ochigdor Also in lore, they're Magnus's Soul Shard juiced (possibly geneseed as well) 'propaganda states made from Big E geneseed' by the Sigilites et others. Their lore has them not trained/brain-programmed like Astartes as they're focus-trained against daemonkind
Wouldn't the TCtan still be able to move onto a objective? It doesn't go into Reserves or anything. It just teleports onto the objective?
Scrambler applies to Scout, Infiltrate, any Reserves, and any redeploys, which I'd argue the T C’tan counts as doing 🙂 -Chef

Fair enough. The Redeploy rule specifically says it happens before the game. And the TCtan ability also makes no mention of Redeploy.
Otherwise I've been doing it wrong all this time 😂
A fair point, though for what it's worth the Designer's Commentary also states that any unit repositioned counts as arriving from Reinforcements for rules purposes, so that also covers it 🙂 -Chef

Deep stroke doesn’t trigger the mist? Why not
Mists is explicitly when a unit finishes a Normal Move, Advance or Fall Back within 9" of the unit, so by definition it can't as Deep Strikes have to be over 9" away. That and the latest Designer's Commentary says things like Deep Strike don't count as Normal Moves for abilities such as Mists 🙂 -Chef

Only 15 minutes in but aren't you pushing the objectives towards the opponents deployment zone in Servo Skulls? Not your own?
Correct, but given you don't score Turn 1 it's often better to pull the Objectives back so you aren't just giving them to your opponent to control early on

When you roll a 1 on vortex of doom you do not get feel no pain against it becouse its not an attack. Sanctic hood only works against psychic attacks and this is same with Typhus ability.
Per the Designers Commentary, any wounds inflicted by a Psychic Ability counts as a Psychic Attack 🙂

You're thinking of a Heavy Psycannon on a Dreadknight. The normal Psycannon didn't change in the Dataslate 😅 -Chef

First turn of the Necrons, the Strike Squad would have only saved on 4s, because only one got cover, and Lawrence specifically did not save with him.
Strike Squads have a 2+ Sv, and Spider used Truesilver Armour, reducing the AP-2 to AP-1, thus 3+ Svs 🙂

There were 6 players in this Season. As for playing more Factions, not sure how we could do that. We can't clone ourselves...yet 😅
New idea. You can play other armies with alter egos.
