    Hey Joe, if you're wondering why your flip tricks have no pop it's because you're balance is in the middle of the board... 90% of your weight should be on the back wheels. You should be almost doing a manual when you set your balance and your jump is all off your back foot. The front foot needs to stay light to allow the board to pop as high as possible. If you are too heavy on your front foot you will be forcing the nose of the board down and restricting the pop.

      @localjoe  Рік тому +12

      I've thought about this and I think your weight and pressure are two diferent things. Take Felipe's treflip for example all his weight is over the front foot but as he lifts the front foot like you talked about he channel's all the pressure to the back foot even while his weight is centered over the front.

      @ZForce151 Рік тому +8

      @@localjoe Try setting your balance for a kickflip or heelflip where the front wheels are barely touching the ground as if you were about to manual and then maintain that balance point as you crouch down and watch how much easier it is to pop. I think pressure has more to do with actual foot position on the board. Too much weight on the front foot and you will either get a rocket flip or the board will flip behind your direction of travel and only your back foot will be able to land on it #leanbackleanbackandnottherocketway

      I’m not sure I agree with this - I feel like the jump in a trick is more similar to a tuck knee jump than jumping your whole body up into the air. The pop itself happens more towards the weightless moment of that jump.If you see people with a lot of pop, they seem to generate most of the upward momentum with their upper body before the pop rather than their knees/legs. Chris cole says in the nine club to “jump with your chest”. This is all just my musings tho…been dealing with knee pain in my popping leg that I feel is directly tied to popping incorrectly and using too much of my knees.

      Other convo, but pop shove, bigspins n all those tricks I feel like putting a lot of pressure on ur front foot helps with height not pop but just getting higher into the air.

    Bro, 29 year old new skateboarder here. I've been on a massive binge of consuming skating content, and I gotta say this is a top quality video. At first it seemed like you were giving obvious answers, but you broke it down so perfectly understandable, that even a beginner like me could comprehend. I'm super excited to get on my board tomorrow and just continue on mastering the basics. Thank you so much for the informational video. 10/10!

    honestly, very helpful vid, I noticed, how, the more I try the trick, the more I'm saying to myself to "just commit", but don't have the best technique or the right balance, so, breaking it apart with these 4 steps (pillars) might be a way easier method + I'm not gonna feel like I'm stuck forever, thank you for great tips!

    This is very helpful! Been trying to 360 flip for a very long time. When getting different tips, corrections, and ways to do the trick, it can be difficult to figure out how to productively work on the trick and consistently use the corrections needed. This compartmentalization allows for me to immediately call out in my head one or two of the pillars that obviously went wrong after an attempt. The next try goes better! This is a great system.

      Ok coming close, I too have a bad habit of hanging my head forward and bad posture with Tre flips. Always could spin and flip but would be way ahead of the board. Works ok for kick flips but that is about it. Trying to straighten my back and squat for set up. Thanks for the videos!

    You also need to have flexibility, you cant be always be in a certain way depending on the trick. Flexibility manuevers your soft balance where you can accurately get more use to your own tricks until eventually in time it comes out better and more flawless. Like the tre-flips, your legs does need a good jump, but you also to be flexible to spread your legs for the catch.

  • @krisorsmso5094
    @krisorsmso5094 Рік тому +1

    The tre flips you landed seemed completely different from the first two pillars that you were aiming for in the midst of the video. In the end you did it but in a brute force way. Not the J scoop you were talking about. Friendly recommendation if i were you, i'd start lifting some weights - easily get your pop up by 50% if you lost a few + gained some strength on those legs.

    I got all these pillars but the balance is soooo hard. Can't keep that damn board under me. Gotta think more about the way I bend and jump I guess. :/ Been trying this kickflip forever and I can get the board to flip every time, but I have to go through ridiculous lengths to keep it under me where I can't even land on it balanced enough to roll away. The board always goes heel side. Pretty much with every trick.... People will say lean back but I gotta lean far far far back then it messes up all the pillars and I can't even flip the board cuz Im trying to keep it under me by leaning back. Ill figure it out one day :...)

      Keep your back straight and use your eyes to look down instead of your neck when crouching. You have to deal with the discomfort until it’s easier to balance in the new position.
