I grew up on that river. There is a nice spot where a creek comes in at the Carleton College arboretum where I spent many a summer day fishing. Never waded it, but that looks the way to do it. Caught many fish, but not near as many as you did. Perhaps larger fish of all species further up river (upstream of Lake Byllesbee), but not as many. It's a great canoe/kayak river too. Good job.
That’s awesome! Yeah wading the cannon is exceptional and really the best way to fish it in my opinion (at least when it’s low). I’ve made a couple more videos fishing the cannon over the last couple months and it’s always a treat - lots of good fishing throughout the river!
You can park anywhere from the lake (by the dam) all the way to parking in town. There are parking lots and parks all along there… it’s all good fishing up through there too!
@LoOutdoors it would only be by luck and mainly during the cold months. They come down from the little cannon or pine creek likely. Trout are even caught at the mouth of the cannon and vermillion during the cold months. Its proven by some know.
