  • Today, we crash the Santa Cruz Bicycles party. I see Sanjay (former World Cup DH racer) from The Path Bike Shop who was, of course, invited to the party, and he introduces me to rippers Chris, Garen, and Mike. All rad dudes in the mountain bike industry. I do my best to keep up and learn that, while my best is not enough, I can still get to the bottom in time to score fist bumps. And I get a little faster as a bonus.
    I'm grateful to these riders for representing their brands (The Path Bike Shop and Santa Cruz Bicycles) so well, but more importantly I value that they demonstrate the welcoming nature of the mountain biking community. My acceptance into the sessions this day was not contingent on any level of radness on the bike, since it seems we were all after the same thing: smiles.
    Thanks Sanjay, Chris, Garen, and Mike for letting me hang with y'all for a minute. 🤘🏽

    The Santa Cruz and The Path Bike Shop crew were some of the coolest mountain bikers I’ve met. Rad on the bike. Humble off the bike. I learned a lot from these cats about riding and about just being. Thanks for letting me crash your party!

    “That dude is freak’n fast” hahaha. I sent Sanjay the video, he’s not the most social media friendly lol. He’s down in Mexico 🇲🇽 for a week or so, but he said he’ll watch it when he gets back. Great video 👍

      MTB ALAN Andy, buddy of Sanjay’s. After all these years he finally got me into MTB about 9 months ago, I’m still very new to everything. We rode Summit the day before this, my first time there so I stuck to the green trails which were more than I could handle lol. Sanjay is as solid as they come, what you probably already know about him isn’t even the half of it haha. I really enjoy your videos, keep it up. They’re very encouraging for us newbies.

      Hey Andy! I’m glad my vids help. Man, my first season at Summit, I mostly just rode Going Green and towards the end of the season, started riding Fall Line and Pirates-Plumbers-Fern. Great trails to learn on! Take your time and enjoy the ride! Yew! 🤘🏽

      Hey! Thanks! TBH, I do worry about showing friggin' Party Wave, Westridge, and Miracle Mile every week, but mayun! it's too much fun, and like I told someone on the trail the other day "I don't film episodes. I just film my day." 😆
      I'm glad it stays fresh for you. I do what I can.
      Bummed you won't be able to ride, but hey...if you can get in a half day, Skypark at Santa's Village rents bikes pretty cheap! Also, The Path Bike Shop in Tustin has a rad rental fleet, and there are trails (Santiago Oaks) super close! Jus' sayin'. 🤘🏽
      In any case, hope to see you on the trails!

    Awesome videos bro. Stumbled on your channel because of the El Prieto Ride which is in my neck of the woods. Wish you didn't edit out slow parts and mistakes, I feel like it gives the viewers a more in depth view of what could go wrong or just how you are progressing with your skill. Nevertheless keep the vids coming.

    • @mtb_alan
      @mtb_alan  4 роки тому

      Thanks for the feedback. Mistakes?! What mistakes? 😆 Seriously tho, I appreciate the desire to see those things. My intention with these types of episodes is to tell the story or convey the theme of the day while also implementing a sense of pace, i.e. showing just enough for the effect and then moving on. And when mistakes or slow parts help support the theme or story without jacking up the pace, I include it.
      As a note, this day with the Santa Cruz and The Path crew up at Snow Summit didn't see many mistakes in our crew (except for the guy who fell on his butt standing next to the trail 😆). And the day did move pretty dang quick...these cats are beasts.
      But...if you wanna see some mistake being mulled over, check out my MISTAKES WERE MADE vid. Yeesh!

    If there was thunder was there lightning any where near? I suppose the lifts would have shut down but either way I would avoid hanging out under trees with thunder near by. Was that just a Path/Santa Cruz gathering?

    • @mtb_alan
      @mtb_alan  5 років тому +1

      Ya...the last run was the last run of the day. They shut down the lifts just after we got on.
      The Santa Cruz rep (Mike) was having local industry people up for a ride day. I just happened to show up cats from The Path Bike Shop were invited up. I honestly just jumped into their group not realizing I was kinna crashing the party. 😆

    Any tips on keeping control while jumping a longer distance ? I always end up either locking up or landing a litttle sketchy

    • @mtb_alan
      @mtb_alan  5 років тому +1

      Great question. The simplest tip I can offer is to start making shapes in the air on smaller jumps and then slowing down the timing on bigger jumps. Really, you always wanna be moving the bike some while in the air...never static. But really, if you wanna improve, invest in lessons, either from UA-cam or from an online subscription or even get a coaching session in a group or if you can afford it, one on one. Hope that helps!

    does snow summit have an entry fee or do you go in, pay for the lift pass, and ride?

    • @mtb_alan
      @mtb_alan  5 років тому +1

      You buy a lift pass to ride the trails but there’s no entrance fee. So for instance, if you’re gonna ride, and your buddy just wants to chill at basecamp smashing beers from the bar, they don’t need to buy anything but the booze. Note, you can’t byob.
