    Thanks for this video. Just used your method, and only broke 7 of the 11 clips in my 2021, and one that survived broke the plastic on the fender. I guess Jeep decided they were too strong in 2018 and made them weaker in the 2021?

      Thanks for posting this! I am trying to figure out what method I want to use to do my battery, and was leaning this way til I heard you broke the FENDER plastic.....suddenly going in from the top is looking better. WHY THE HELL did they have to overcomplicate what USED to be a simple 10 minute process under the hoo of the vehicle?? Not to mention the added expense of the second battery. JUST MORE TO GO WRONG!

    Actually the EASIEST way to remove a fender flare is to be real close to a big oak tree while driving over and slipping off of a log on the ground. I discovered this method with my 2005 LJ. That oak took it off in seconds. May not be the PREFERRED method, but it works really well. 😂 Good job as usual

    Hey Brandon! Thanks for this video since I'm headed out right now to replace some of the broken clips that a tree stump, hidden under muddy water, decided to tear off from my JT! I actually stopped at the dealership and was able to purchase the white clips and the plastic rivots since I was ready to remove the liner until I watched your video! 😛

    Yeah thanks to your brilliant advice I immediately broke the bottom most clips on my fender and now is flapping in the breeze. Yes they CAN break. You have to give them a little tug here don’t worry they don’t break my arse. Brand new 2024 too. Proceed with caution, folks.

    Looking at the design of the white clips in question, I do not see how they could NOT break when trying to pull them out. They are designed to pop IN and the expand on the back. Pulling OUT will most likely sheer the little arms . Seems like they would need to be accessed from the back , which means pulling the liner first if you want to salvage the clips.

    Hey Brandon. Do the flares go back on the way the came off? My rear fender separated a bit from the body and I am having a hard time pushing the flare back on with enough force. I am thinking I may have to remove the inner fender to gain access to where the flare actually attaches to the body because as it is now the plastic just bends at the clip points and the clips just don't go back into the holes, I think they will need to be pushed in from underneath and the inner fender is blocking access. Great videos as always my friend!

    Brandon, I have an unrelated question. I'm removing the black wire cover piece that runs along the floor on the front passenger side of my 2018 JL Wrangler. To do this I have to remove the top portion of the door wiring harness connector off the panel under the dashboard. After I release the bottom portion of the wiring harness (with the lever pulled up), is the top piece removed by pulling it straight out?

I lifted the Jeep to remove the bushing and tried to tap and dye the remaining bolt=unsuccessful. I need to get to the top of the body frame. I can see it. So you have to remove the entire fender and fender liner just to remove the battery? What a braindead design... :(
      If you are going to put two batteries in the vehicle, make them the same size and design them as fully redundant systems.

    • @CurmudgeonExtraordinaire
      @CurmudgeonExtraordinaire 4 місяці тому

      @@davepersonal9082 -- Yeah, the damn kiddie engineers really screwed some things up with the JL... Choosing to have the auto-stop-start (ASS) system and the "mild hybrid" made them have to make other changes in the design which complicated it and made things that used to work no longer work. My JL is a 2018 model, so I *could* have still special ordered a JK just like the JL that I special ordered. Unfortunately, I didn't... Looking back, I definitely wish that I knew then what I knew now, because I would have avoided the JL. What irritates me the most is the electro-hydraulic power steering pump since it does not have the pressure and flow rate to run my hydraulic winch.
