Great edging. i just used it to border a circular vest I made for my four-year-old niece. She loves pink so I used pink as the vest color and pink and white as the interlocking edge. It gave the vest that special touch that it needed. Thanks for the tutorial.
thanks so much for your suggestions :) they are definitely welcomed. my daughters bday is in the end of may. im hoping in a few weeks ill have all the squares done and i will let you know how it finally turns out.
do you mind redoing the video in colors that are easier to see on camera? like the white and blue video was a great contrast and easy to see. thank you. love your work!
Love this edging...someone on FB posted a similar short video - she used 3 colors - and it looked great - could you use 3 colors somehow.......I haven't been able to find anything like that video until I saw yours which I like also
+peggy chiarello I haven't used 3 colors up to now. I'll probably try it in the future. If you were using 3 colors, you would have to recalculate the loops, possibly making then closer. Sorry I don't have anything else right now. Tanis
i love it! :) thank you for sharing. question.. do you think i could use this to connect squares? im a beginner but im thinking it might work on at least one direction of the joining. im going to connect my first blanket soon and ive been looking for ideas today on trim. this is my favorite
Great idea! You could work along one edge per the instructions, instead chain 9. The 5th chain could be a sc that connects to the other square so you would create a criss-cross joining. You'll have to experiment with the corners. Another way would be to work the criss-cross around both squares (still using 9 chs), and join with a sc to the other criss-cross loop at the 5th ch. That way you can join as you go as well. The corners could be joined or left open. Let me know how it works out. Tanis
What is the pattern you used for the 'sample blanket' for this edging video? It looks good paired with the edging and I'd like to make a blanket like this.
+Suzanne Thomason It looks like the Interlocking Crochet Zigzag Design. You can find the videos demonstrating the Interlocking Crochet technique under my playlist. There is also a video walking you through the pattern and a few others also. Tanis
+Tanis Galik I think I may have worded that wrong. I was looking at the sample used before you put the edging on, as it looks like a waffle stitch with blue rings inside.
+Suzanne Thomason No, it is an Interlocking Crochet design. I think it might be honeycomb/railroad tracks or checkerboard/starry sky. There are videos for both. The uniting border is worked with dc instead of hdc as usual. Tanis
I didn't have a problem. I drop one and when I pick up the other, I make sure it's not twisted. Could you be more specific about the problem you are having? Tanis
I'm also having problems with the yarn twisting when I do this edging. When I drop one yarn to the back and pick up the other color, the yarn coming from the skein twists together and I have to keep stopping to unwind the two yarns. Any advice?
I assume you are talking about the twisting strands coming from the skeins of yarn. I usually use a container that is especially designed for holding multiple skeins of yarn so you can work without the yarn tangling. Periodically you will have to turn the container so the strands untwist. You can make your own by placing each skein in a separate jar, bag or container. Again, as you work you may have to turn the containers to untwist the strands; however, it will keep them from becoming so tangled that it wastes a lot of time trying to unknot them. Hope this helps. Tanis
You could use it. My only concern would be if the loops might get caught on whatever you were drying or washing. Possibly a closer edging or loops that were not so big (with less chains) might be better. Tanis
Natas Nico You could do it either way. If you were using 3 colors, you would have to recalculate the loops, possibly making then closer. Someone probably has a video demonstrating how to use 3 colors. Good Luck. I'd love to see your finished project. Tanis
How would you start this border around a pattern, where you haven't used two strands of yarn. I just want to use this border around a basket weave baby afghan?
Estelle Ezell Do you mean you just want to add scallops around the baby blanket instead of crossing over? For plain scallops just work with one color and chain the number you want depending on how long you want the loops. Join the loops with a single crochet to your border and skip one single crochet between joins or two if you want the loops longer. You can experiment until you find the edging you like. Tanis
I'll try to redo it using those colors in the future. Right now I'm having trouble downloading from my camera. I'm getting help with it. Thanks for your comments. Tanis
I don't know which gray and yellow design you are referring to. Where is the picture? It might be Interlocking Crochet or it could be a basic crochet pattern just using two colors. Tanis
Tanis Galik for some reason it was in a picture on the link I hit, I found it on Ravelry.com for $ 5.00 it's called a zigzag with criss cross border. thank you for your video it will help me with it.
concetta bologna I don't know if you can save videos to your email. I do know many people share my videos with their google+ groups. You also could download the written pattern from www.SimpleAndSensational.com. Go to the Site Map located at the bottom right of the page and you'll find a list of all the videos, blogs and patterns. You could probably email the page you want or the pattern/blog that describes this border to anyone. Tanis
Thank you for this pattern. I have used it several times. I only change 5 so that my loops lay flat. Best border ever!!!!!!

Im new at crocheting, have you figured out a way to keep your working yarn from getting twisted while doi g this edging?

Would it look nice on a long shawl .
I think it would look great on a long shawl or scarf.

Hi I just finished a corner 2 corner dishcloth.do you think I can use your criss cross edging as a border?have a nice weekend.nancy
You could use it. My only concern would be if the loops might get caught on whatever you were drying or washing. Possibly a closer edging or loops that were not so big (with less chains) might be better.
Tanis
hi would you ever consider doing tutorials on a smalltablecloth or daoily?
@@nancystrand1920 No, I'm limiting the videos I do now.
Tanis
Im crocheting a 3 color baby blanket, do you think that it would be best to chose 2 colors or could it work with all 3? Thank you for your video!

Is there a trick to keeping the feeder yarn from twisting? Thanks!
Unfortunately I don't know of any. I just untwist every few loops.
Tanis
i love this thank you...)
Thanks for writing. It does make a nice alternative edging.
Tanis
I need a pattern for a Xmas tree skirt made with roses. Does any one have the measurements for this
Sorry, I don't. Maybe someone else does.

What is the name of the blanket pattern in the gray and yellow? Is it an interlocking as well?
