New 2011 BMW 5 Series iMOTOR Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 лют 2010
- iMOTOR takes a spin in the new 2011 BMW 5 Series to see if it can beat cars like the excellent Jaguar XF, recently-introduced Mercedes E-Class and Audi A6. For more like this go to www.i-motor.co.uk/
After about 10 years later I can finally afford it XD and looking back now the design was the best move they ever made. It looks even more modern and elegant by today's standards.
Totally agree, I own one and don't get tired of watching and driving it, even though could afford latest generation, however prefer f10's style over its new one.
For me, it looks fantastic in every trim.
This guy is the only reviewer I really feel like a maths teacher
He starts intro with full enthusiasm
As I go to end of video it is always a calculus class to me.
I’d hate to see him but he’s all over my UA-cam .
Considering I used to own a 2011 535i myself I am very glad I didn't go for the E300 AMG before test driving it, now I disagree with Mat when he said it looks older because it actually looks sportier and more ferocious. It had amazing build quality and the performance of a sports car but the comfort of a 7 Series or a Pillow! to sum up it was GREAT!
Did u ever buy her ?
The F10 M-Sport body chassis is the best bmw looking car ever! Its perfect in all it's 360 ways and soo damn manly especially in Carbon Black Metallic which is 2 colors in one (black when the sunlight hits it and midnight blue at night)!!!
Best in class without doubt. 260km/h revs at 4000. Better performance than XF, Audi is the most boring car in class, diesel 535d is superb. 8 speed box - also best in class. 2013/4 key not needed in glove box. M Sport package changes look drastically.
my F10 530d sport is at just 3200 rpm in 8th gear at 250kph!
THumbs up if you say Bmw Are always Great than audi
I saw this in 2022. Looks amazing in person.
2019 and I still can't afford it. Who's with me?
I’ve brought one recently and there amazing! :))
still loving my e39 540i 9+ years strong!
2020: Fuel or Diesel?
isnt this the guy from carbuyer?
Yes haha I don't know what he's doing here
hahahah love the pic )
Now he's in Car Wow.
He used loads of aliases
I went last week at my local BMW dealer and purchased a black 2011 BMW 528i. This car is a beauty. It is very, very fast and luxurious. The salesman at the BMW dealer got me a deal at $56,000 with taxes. I previously owned a 2007 BMW 335i, but this new 5 Series is amazing compared to it. I've had a lot of people come up and ask me how it is and I tell them it is brilliant. The only thing I don't like is that it guzzles a lot of gas. Overall, this car is amazing and I am glad I purchased it.
finally could afford the base 523i which i bought a month back and i feel it still drives like new
I like the new styling. Doesn't look old, it looks luxurious.
What is he talking about..... this model does look soooo much better then the last one!
Simply one of the best looking cars out today!!
I don't know where Mr. Man Boobs gets the idea that earlier 5 series models had a bumpy ride. I have a 1996 E39 and its is so smooth it is unimaginable.. Seriously.
5-Series is and always was a benchmark setter, class leader, and most bought sedan in its class. Mercedes, Audi, Cadillac, and Jag shouldn't be worried they should figure out a way to try to come close.
I like the way it looks, a definite improvement on its predecessor.
Handling = 100/100 - nothing is better.
Comfort = 95/100 - it's sports limousine, it can't be such "soft" as the others.
Performance = 100/100 - BMW makes the best performanced cars in the world.
Luxury = 100/100 - "The best interior in it's class" - I have nothing to add.
Style = 100/100 - it's the most beautiful 5 series ever (even better than e39)!!!
So it's the best car in it's class.
That's all.
My mother is going tomorrow at the BMW dealer and picking her new 528i up ! I am very excited !
I've heard the handling has gone down a bit from the last generation but it is nice to hear Imotortv thinks it is better.
I love the BMW's old styling which is coming back in the 5 series.
The 5 series w/ the M-Sport Pack is quite the looker IMO
Avoid the active steering option so the steering as you said won't lack feedback and then you're fine.
They probably don't want people leaving the key inside the car by accident. That might be why you can't close the key holder. As far as the design, the sweeping lines along the top of the hood and the side actually gives the car a more modern look than the prior 5 Series body style.
You can't keep the key thingy in your pocket?
omg, this look have grown on me sooo much.. i almost hated it first, but now.. its amazing. so refined, so elegant
2020?
he says it looks older in style? THAT A GOOD THING. i personally think the older models of the 5 series looked outstanding
looks so much better in person. i saw it in the city and i have no idea what this guy is talking about. maybe its the wheels. looks gorgeous
@AntDX316 In Europe they get cloth seats in many base BMW models and basic things like sunroofs are options. The US models have leatherette at the entry level in the 1 and 3 series and leather in all others (and sunroofs are standard across all US models).
Next year I will drive this to school can't wait
wow came to see a video about the new 5 series and they just happen to be filming exactly where i live!
It maybe just me, but I like the look, simple yet classy in every corner of the car
Hiya Ross, well I had the BMW 5 for about a month and a half, after that I had an Audi A5 3.0 tdi sportback, and I'm now back again with an A6 2013. I was offered an amazing deal to get back with Audi after I took out the BMW. I agree with you that the A6 is more spacious, especially at the back, however I would never say the BMW interior is boring, especially when you add to that the massive sat nav screen (which is way bigger than in the A6) and other great features that fill up the car's interior. The seats in the BMW are certainly a bit more comfortable too, and the drive on the bends is that bit more responsive than the A6 - not to mention that the 2 litre diesel was more economic in comfort mode than the A6 when positioned in comfort mode. I was getting around 61mpg when cruising down the motorway - amazing! Anyhow, 90% of the cars that I owned in my life where Audi and I missed the brand. The other brands I owned included the 5 series and a Mercedes E class. Both the BMW 5 and A6 are great cars and certainly the Merc cannot compare to them in anyway. Keep on enjoying you A6 :) Btw, down here, i see the 5 series and A6 at least 20-30 times a day :)
key fob in the cup holder? what happened there?
Absolutely an amazing review! I love BMW.
I just disagree with your opinion about the styling, I think the new 5 Series is the best looking one to date!!
Great guy. Make the car look alive everytime he review it.
Always use camera on stand, even IN the car, mount the camera on stand. Be aware of shadows of crew vehicle. Make it little longer.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing ? coz I have an E60 2010
Hmmm, I agree.
at 5:36 it looks like a cross between an E39 5 series and a current 7 series.
The M5 will look sensational.
@FliegenKlappen
I do have to agree. I like that they will point out the good and the bad, not to mention that they seem to do a more "realistic" test of the car rather than show you 0-60, 1/4 mile, and slalom times then flower it with techo garbage..they do it how most of the consumers would do it if they did one.
onto something I wanted to point out, this car looks like a revamped/updated version of the early 2000s 7 series car rather than a 5 series.....I like it.
You must be crazy to call it not good looking. It is gorgeous. Really is.
@AMGc0ksukca I'd be interested to hear which models you had and which ones were problematic.
this 5 series actually resembles the e39 but with a modern look? :)
Style is the Achilles heel?! It looks amazing idk what hes talking about
the look is different and fresh. very relaxing type of car
Does anyone know if the backup camera is underneath the rear BMW logo like in the new 6 series?
Omg, Matt 11 years ago 😂
lol they cried about the previous one for looking too futuristic and even called it "ugly", but now when BMW is being more conservative it is suddenly "old fashioned" and moved backwards? This car looks fucking great.
the style is the BEST PART WOW
1:56 Made my day.
Nice landscape, i believe that's around Lisbon and Cascais, Portugal.
E Class or 5 Series
E200 Auto vs 520d Auto
im looking to buy one
it was filmed near Lisbon, in Portugal
I am thinking of buying a new car. But the thing is that i can't choose over lexus es and bmw 5. Its really hard to choose. They both are good cars
i thought all cars built & imported to the UK we're right hand drive?
Wher do you film the test drive ?
Can anyone tell me the name of the violin/ cello song that is played during the "Comfort" part? It is absolutely beautiful.
@bgnyc1 What exactly are the purposes of each BMW car? The 3 series is for?... The 5 series is made towards?... I'm sure all series of BMW cars have their own purpose.
@kentau123 You may have bought one made in South Africa lol, it was the old days, did you own a 3 series? around 2001 or a couple years around? They WERE rubbish because the thickness of the glass and materials are very different, but now all parts are shipped from Germany. And you can choose if you want one made in SA or Germany.
@bgnyc1 I mean like the 3 series is mentioned to me more of a sport coupe than the 5 series. Yea basically what is each series' purpose for being on the road? I'm sure all series' aren't sport coupes.
no sunroof?
I don't think there's anything wrong with the styling. It looks like a BMW, plain and simple. It's not fussy or strange like the old 7 Series.
@1Silas11 It's Jag and other british cars still in production???
My problem is that all the series now look the same especially from the back..u can always miss the 5 with the 7..The car still turns on with the key in my pocket though..doesnt have to be in its holder..
Depends where you are from mate :). Where i am A6 are just as common as 5 series. E Klass and XF not so much, but then again id take a 5 or an A6 over and E or XF any day.
What is the name of the first track that has been played?
I also want to know🥺
I agree about styling. The older version is way better looking for me.
The style really grows on you. When I first saw the commercial for it I thought BMW had gone mad. After a while though you start to really like it.
Once I saw it at the dealer though, that's when I decided I wanted this as my next car. My GF thinks its ugly and wants the Jaguar XF (which is more expensive and only has RWD) and I don't know how to convince her otherwise :P
Nice touch: those pillars graphics are the from the bmw headquarters tower in munich.
Nice review. I wouldn't call it more anonymous than the XF though. The new 5er is immediately recognizable as a bmw ... I wouldn't necessarily say the same about the jag.
"It's just so damn good."
I couldn't have said it better myself. As the diesel isn't available in the US, my dream car is a 535i in Mojave Metallic. Sweet car.
Styling wise it is more conservative but I like that more than the last generation 5 with the weird ass and flared headlights.
@kevinmsft the only problems with sales is that is too expensive. In my country supercharged 550 xdrive costs kind of $150-160k. In all other stuff this car is one of the best. You can be disappointed in bmw styling, or price or some kind of that, but its great car, really great car, if you disagree - so u just havent been driven one.
Forget youtube, have you seen this car in real life? Are you aware that it is GORGEOUS?
@aparchedwarlus nooo the e39 was which is where i think bmw are trying to go with a modern add on
does anybody know where this was filmed?
the 2010-present BMW 5 Series is assembled in
Dingolfing, Germany
Cairo, Egypt
Toluca, Mexico
Rayong, Thailand
Shenyang, China
Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia
@manusnadh You don't like the E39 M5?
@Scudeyyy So your telling me the E39 M5 was ugly?
@onoff314 you should be satisfied and happy. Here in Norway a 535i starts at 170.000 USD.
BMW rules and this new 5 series is no exception. Judging by my profile name, you know I'm an avid BMW fan. Excluding all sorts of biasness, this car is still mighty good. Cheers~
That´s the best place to do a test drive! Lisbon to Sintra (Portugal)
@rs2p00nz What do you mean by that ? " Rated at 32 mpg " ?
what does BMW stand for?
@outerjase2 Thanks for the reply. But the BMW logo doesn't flip up like in the 6 series?
Just perfect, doesn't look like an avensis anymore.
the king is back, best interior so far. awesome.
I will always choose a BMW 5 series over an E-class but it will be hard to choose it over an A6
I like it. Maybe it requires some time until you get used to it when compared to the previous model. But it definitely transmits quality. Was it filmed in Portugal? Nice place.
Jaguar XF may be excellent in looks,
HOWEVER, the 5-series is a stunning car. I believe it looks more beautiful than ever before.
They need to put the stig to test drive all these new high performance cars..
Mat? what are you doing here? shouldn't you be on carbuyer?
i was thinking of buying it and after i watched your review i decided to buy BMW s5 next week.
@GTGTRR actually the man who designed the last 5 series was named Davide Archangeli. Other models were also mostly designed by other people. Chris Bangle was the head of design and oversaw all of the designs but was only truly responsible for a handful of models. I agree with you, it's very sad that he is gone. BMWs style is becoming more and more generic.
This new 5 series, the MB C300 and E350 Coupe, and the Audi A5 are my favorite cars out right now......I have a 2008 A4 and still love it!!......but looking at maybe getting something newer.
Look outside whcih car is more common? Jaguar or BMW?
@darkxiao Not sure what you're talking about... I recognize that each car has a purpose. I am addressing the fact that the reviewer throws around the term 'best in class' quite easily without mentioning the specifics of what makes it best in class. Nor does he mention the stiff competition that make up the class to which he refers (i.e. offerings by Audi and Mercedes).
