- I am very sorry about the lighting situation on this video but here is some usefull info for the guys that are looking to upgrade a lambretta with a 5 speed gearbox.
Thank you for sharing all of your findings its so helpful not to have the bad experience that has cost time money and sweat, you are a champ in the garage and I love your videos thank you 👏
Thanks Brian. I can say however that the cyclone5 I got replaced hasn't been any trouble now for 3 years.
Just subscribed, your videos are not only greatly useful and well done, but also very pleasant to watch and listen :-) Thank you!
Wow, thank you. 😎
Great info as always. 👏
Have you considered testing the AF Clo5e box? I have fitted two and love it. It is more competitively priced. It wasn't without teething problems in the early release but things seem to be ok now. I love your videos by the way.
Yes, would love to test one but finances won't allow me to buy one.
Thi was a great informative video. It just really hacks me off that some ‘developers’ go off half cocked and put a product on the market that isn’t fully tested and productionised and it’s down to the poor old punter that has to pick up the pieces when it brakes. I think you were lucky with that lost gear that you didn’t crack the crankcase or worse hurt yourself. I am guessing you would not have got a new crankcase out today them or compensation for a broken body part.
Like you, I will stick with MB who I trust as a developer alongside the companies he partners. Bolti
I think it's time for an update of this topic. I've finally got an MB 5 speed. My scooter already runs an MB layshaft. But now there's also the AF Clo5e 5 speed. There are a few guys out here running those and they like them.
I am not made of money. Buying an af5 just ain't happening. Congrats on the MB5 . Still the best box without me trying the AF, simply because it's easier to fit and casa boxes are still braking.
@@kickbackgarage Thanks, I had a deposit on one for ages but finally they had one to send me. I'll have a look through your videos to see if you've got one on installing an MB5. Maybe you could talk Ben into "lending" one of the AF ones to you for a review. :) Anyhow, I enjoy your vids and hopefully I'm learning from them, too.
Pretty much the same way as this one ua-cam.com/video/BGSMvI8lJOE/v-deo.html@@Lambrettist
Brilliant info
Very nice bro 😀
Have bought the Mb5 speed for my Rt230 TTT so hopefully it will go well 👍🏻
It will! Easy to fit too. Did you see my review on the RT230? Such a fun engine ❤️
Kickback Garage I did, have 3 230 rt and 230ts1 all done by Broady. What was ur final front & rear sprocket selection as I’m in two mines weather too go for 18/19 front and 46 Rear.
@@exsoulagent Argghh.. I have written it down somewhere. All I can remember is def 46. I THINK its 18.. But I did buy a 19 too .. haha
Long time,subscriber....getting ready to buy a 5speed gear box. Just wondering if you have a different opinion on the 5 peed gear box than what you have said on your video. Going to try and fit it to my Mugello 198cc. Live in the states. Thanks scott
I have had no problems with both the mb and cyclone5 after the mishap with the early ones. That being said, I haven't heard of any problems with the AF rayspeed one after they sorted out the niggles. I don't think I would have problem fitting these three. Cyclone5 and mb box are equals. A little more noise from the cyclone but the mb box costs more. Which I could test the AF because it it is a good, its great value.
Thanks for the reply...And the informative videos. Hope you have a prosperous 2021, it can only get better. As far as the 5 speed gear box goes, I’ll see what I can find here in the states. Thanks scott
Also interested in your views of the AF5
Nic, That is because I personaly have no experience on the AF box. When I bought the MB box AF were having issues although if you belive the "internet", these issues are now sorted.
Do you have any knowledge yet on the differences between the Casa vs AF Rayspeed 5 speed boxes?
Keen to know which will work best in town ?
Thanks
I haven't tried the AF box but I can't see why it it won't work round town 🤷♂️
Bril vid.
Thanks Bill.
I have been thunking about buy a AF5 speed gearbox with my hardearned dole money only joking before the keyboard warriors start bashing away on their keys like Keith Moon on a new drum kit and was wondering should I also renew the layshaft in the process
Yes! AF make a specific layshft to make fitting their 5 speed box easier.
@kickbackgarage my lambretta is a 150gp with a 195 kit on is a 5 speed gearbox a worthwhile upgrade for my consideration or would it be an unnecessary upgrade
It's nice but not necessary. Your money.
Ass a development engineer it sounds to me like they are using the general public as ‘test monkeys’ to prove the product instead of doing testing, testing and more testing to develop the product into something that is reliable. Bad reputations- and the word gets around quickly in the scooter community - will affect eventual total sales. Sounds like MB have it right from the start both in design and choice of manufacturer. Bolti
This is 100% true! It's been like this ever since the ts1 came out unfortunately.
The utilisation of a company with a great track record makes sense. I hope that my cyclone will perform okay. Great vid once again thanks Rob.
Nova racing I mean ;)
Yes. I had a nova in my bsa. Top quality.
Yes, and because of that I wouldn’t buy a RLC Cyclone 5 speed gearbox. How many times did they get it wrong...
Wouldn’t dream of buying any RLC engine parts, they are proven to be amateurs.
