Excellent explanation of the gearing. I have a 63 LI 125 with production number 070401 but I keep hearing that they had two different transmissions on 1963. I see everywhere that the most common gearing is the 15 sprocket and the 46 teeth clutch bell.
Thanks for that. Now I can see why the Li150 Italian gearbox works so well with my tuned TS1👍 Now if only I could build a clutch that doesn't slip, well at least one without a center spring
On every video I try to keep the info tight and concise, but inevitably end up waffling. After editing, uploading and watching it back, i always then think, ‘bollocks... I forgot to mention XYZ, etc’. Lol. I think I’m improving with each video though? 😂👍
Dan, most common sense vid I have seen in some time. I am running a TV 200 with a standard gearbox and drive using the Avanti kit and MB big bore exhaust. Gearing is not right having to change down on hills and in windy condition. Any suggestions really appreciated.
That’s why imola with an Li150 box 15x46 CST 3 pipe runs lovely. Tried 16x46 and 17x46 to try and get higher speed at lower revs. I might as well of got off and walked it was garbage. Flew flew first 3 gears but 4th it was pants.
My imola kit ran a sx200 gearbox 15x46=fd 4.8 with a vhst 28 delly and bgm mk3 clubman. Thing flew along with only the steepest hills killing power. Loved it, only downside was fuel consumption was horrendous ☹️
Recently fitted my LI 150 box with a 17 sprocket and standard 46 crown wheel, Mugello 200 (not reed) 28 PHBH, an old expansion that I'm not exactly sure what it is. Haven't worked out the FD ratio, drives pretty well but then I'm the guy mentioned in the vid; 10 stone and 5ft6" with a wife who would rather die than ever get on the back. Pulls fast through 1,2 And 3 then have to welly it a bit in 3rd if you're going uphill before changing up. Managed a true 61 mph on the flat without screaming it at all
@@exsoulagent Figured something like that because it feels a lot like my SX200 did in the 80's, just put an old school Dave Webster style pipe on today and a fast flow fuel tap and got it to 64 mph on my GPS tracker on the flat, probably faster than I ever went on the SX but then it was impossible to tell how fast you were (or weren't) going back then...didn't stop me telling my mates that it did 70 though haha
