That goes as well for any motorcycle which uses DOT 4 brake fluid which most modern bikes do especially all that are equipped with ABS brakes. DOT 4 becomes contaminated with water which it absorbs over time. The industry standard being 24 months to change said fluid. Failure to do so can and will eventually lead to reduced brake effectiveness and failure.
Had my 10k service right at two years and brakes flushed per maintenance schedule. Of course 500 miles later I have a wrench symbol appear and only the dealer can turn it off. No respect for their customers time.
Important to have your brakes working as effectively as possible. Very good feature on the PAm - as long as you don't have to take the bike to an actual HD dealer to reset the timer.
@@yeagerscycle3450 I suppose if one is a regular customer the dealer will reset the timer for free if you changed the brake fluid yourself. And pigs can fly! Thank you for confirming.
Yes the dealer will reset the time on the notification when they complete the service. Note: if you do it yourself and accidently spill DOT 4 on the bikes paint. You will have to pay for that repair. If that happens at the dealership they are responsible and will cover the cost of repair. Also with the equipment they have it will be done in less time and more efficiently. The cost of this service every 24 months is more than worth the potential for disaster. No, I am in no way affiliated with Harley nor any HD dealership. But I have seen how wrong that procedure can go when not done properly.
@@paulwojnar2291 correct again as well. Couple hundreds bucks every couple years to have it done by a trained hand is not a bad deal. Thanks for the input!
@Yeager's Cycle Thank you Larry for all of the informative and professional videos on your channel. I am a Pan Am owner and appreciate the invaluable info you send out to us. Again thank you.
Thank you Larry great info
Agreed!
Great info! Mine just came on today! Thanks!
Glad it helped!

100% correct!

I am not defending them but we recently learned of the brake fluid service wrench ourselves. The Rev Max bikes are the only ones doing this so far

Yes you do. It can only be reset on our digital technician tool, sorry.

Thank you so much!! I was going crazy 😂
Glad it helped! It is highly recommended you change your brake fluid. It will get contaminated with moisture very easy.
Thanks, lol. This came up today on my PanAm and I just did an oil change so I was confused.
Quit honestly we was not aware of this either. Mine came up and had to figure what it was for
I plan to change my fluid. How can I eliminate the wrench icon?
You will need your dealer to reset that for ya, no way for consumers to do that
Thanks for the advice despite the disappointing answer.
@@bobmorasko ya, I get it. HD is taking the brake fluid change intervals serious.
How to delete that
You will have to have a Harley dealer reset your 24 month timer for the brake fluid change. Only a HD dealer can do that.
