What's insane? A potential candidate hired someone to bury his dirt in an effort mislead the public. In hopes to legitimize his candidacy. To facilitate the efforts of the cover up payments were made under false pretenses and violating campaign finance laws or FECA. One of the parties involved with the scheme already served jail time for the crime. Charges should've came sooner for trump but not before he left office. When a president is no longer immune for criminal charges. Hence trump crying so hard for the supreme court to grant a president immunity for criminal charges. Presidents are already immune from civil charges. He wants immunity for any crimes he's committed. That's pretty much it simple terms.

Attorney Generals from any state or especially multiple states, should be able to bring a halt to trials where they can argue to a judge there is perceived prosecutor misconduct, judges go to the senate, prosecutors can be criminally investigated, and any official from another agency caught participating should be fired, the rest lose their law license and have a ban on public office. Set a high bar but clearly the majority of the public clearly sees whats going on.
