    I won’t be selling my 2019 Indian Chief Vintage Iconic Thunder either. Hands down the best bike ever! You need to update the info. My new Vintage is two-tone black and yellow. I’m from Florida. Great video!

    I am in western Washington State and I have had my 2017 Chief Vintage (Willow Green over Ivory Cream) for over two years now. You talk about the wind screen and buffeting in your video. I highly recommend using the Lower Wind Deflectors that attach to the forks. I see two benefits: you get less wind buffeting at higher speeds, and you get a little less water on your legs on rainy days. The number one thing that you need to know about owning a Chief Vintage is that you cannot even ride it to the grocery store or the bank and some random stranger is likely to want to come up and talk to you.

    • @RebelRides
      @RebelRides  4 роки тому +5

      Thanks for the tip. Absolutely with you on the not being able to ride it anywhere without someone wanting to talk to you! 😂

      Noted several comments here that refer to bystanders stopping to stare or wanting to talk about the machine. BUT isn't that a good thing? Sure it is. Just convinces you that you chose wisely & should keep it once you own it. For a lot of riders, it's the bank's till that big note is paid off., and then you can have a mortgage burning party! . Anyone here had one of those? Let us know. :>}

    Hi and thank you for your videos. I'm also a proud owner of a 2016 Indian red vintage, and like you I'll never get rid of it. In my opinion the chief vintage is one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever made.

    I'm from Spruce Pine, North Carolina, in America. I'm 63 in April and I've always wanted a motorcycle. I bought one today. And it's an Indian Chief Vintage in the willow green / ivory cream. And I pick her up next week. I wanted to learn some things about the bike and that's how I came across your video. I enjoyed it. You made me want to ride it more than I already do.

    I had a 2014 Vintage loved it, but, when the Springfield came along it answered a few more needs for me and I traded. The locking hard bags are a big reason along with the ability of my wife being able to get into the bags while riding. The other big reason was the fork rake was less making handling a lot lighter and shorter turning radius. Smaller reason was that the passenger is treated to stock floorboards. The Springfield for touring hits all the needs, that doesn't detract from the Vintage as the retro awesome bike it is and I do syill like it but traveling is my thing and living in Maine you have to travel to go anywhere! Great video, ride on!!

    • @RebelRides
      @RebelRides  4 роки тому +2

      If the Springfield was out when I bought it would I have made the same decision? I don't know, possibly because I don't really go touring that often. Both great machines. Thanks for your comment.

    Got a new 2020 Indian Chief Vintage and love it. Had Goldwings for years and they were excellent bikes. However, the Indian is 150 pounds lighter than the wing and a much lower center of gravity, so handles much better. Smooth, no vibration on the highway at any speed, unlike many V twins. I'm from southern Ontario, Canada

    As an owner of a 2016 Star Silver/Thunder Black Vintage, I enjoy all of your videos. I also have a 2014 BMW R1200RT and a 2017 KTM Superduke GT. All are loved, and all provide--obviously--completely different riding experiences. I've come to love just cruising down the road on the Indian, and I have to say it's brought more joy to OTHER people on the road than all the other bikes I've ever owned over the past 47 years--combined. You just can't ride the Indian without giving someone a reason to tell you how nice it looks. Perhaps not a great reason to buy a particular bike, but it does enhance the ownership experience :-). I am in northern California (aka Motorcycle Nirvana on Earth).

    I alway enjoy your channel. I’m watching from New York, USA. I’m right now shopping for a vintage. I’m looking to buy used only because I want a red one. In 2014 when they were released the red one was just iconic to me. I wasn’t able to afford it at that time due to health problems. Now thing have changed and my wife and me are healed up and I’m ready. Thing is they don’t make red anymore! Not since 2016, which makes NO sense to me, growing up Indians were red, iconically red, they should be Red, Black, and any other colors you want every model year. So I’m looking for a clean, low mileage 2016. Did I mention I want RED!

I kept my leather saddle bags though so I can trade over to those if I want when I want that vintage look but I must say….I don’t miss having to was those all chrome rims and white walls at all. Vintage was a great bike but the Springfield has everything I wanted from a real riders experience and still have that vintage look when ya want

    I have ridden the full range of Chiefs and Chieftains except the Road Master and, they really are great bikes. Handling of the Springfield (my fav) and the Chieftains surprised me the first time I rode them. Once at speed they felt like a 250cc. The weight just dropped away. Of course manhandling them around needs a bit more muscle but that is something one will get used too.
    I love them and the reason I don't own one yet is, I love my Victory Octane more at this point in my life.
    Oh, and you would love Chris' Calamity Jane even more in the flesh. Fingers crossed one day you can come downunder for a gander.

      That is the same color scheme for my next bike. I previously had the original 2014 Indian red with brown leather and the brutal Texas summer heat majorly bleached the bags white. The dealership delayed in getting me the replenishment kit. After receiving the kit it takes a whole weekend to clean and recolor all the leather. This is the only issue I had with the bike.

    Hello everyone i am in the process of adding another cruiser to my stable. I owned all kinds of bikes in the last 35 years from metric to any Harley Davidsons. Two bran new Harleys and a few used i got tired of their tee shirt sales attitudes. Ill never own another one since the most reliable was my 2015 Vrod Muscle. The baggers i owned had a ton of issues you had to argue just to fix simple things that should not be a issue with a bike under 10k miles.
    As a example I had a bagger die in a rainstorm. it was 6 months old.
    They did not install dielectric grease on the fuse box connections. Yeah they did eventually fix it. by changing the fuse box and other burned out components. I was told not to ride in heavy rain ? Who says that for a bike that is a highway designed machine ?

    SO, Indian made a great comeback in the motorcycle industry/market in large part due to the VINTAGE, Springfield, & ............ . Ok then, Why is Polaris dropping Vintage line? Isn't that like biting the hand that feeds you!? I believe it is a huge mistake. So what if Vintage isn't as big a seller as the new kids bikes they've come out with. I do hope Polaris rethinks that decision. But who am I but an olde school rider. There, I've said my piece. Is anyone really listening? From where you ask. Well, I'm from what they call 'the states'. The state of Euphoria, at the thought of picking out my Vintage. It'll either be one of the last 2021 Vintage left overs on the showroom floor.... or.... one of several used ones listed in New England. Yes indeed, there are a handful being offered by riders who have had to hang up their cut & helmet due to hip replacement, bad back & knees, or fear of maniacs with rude behavior and road rage. 75 isn't too olde now is it?

    Looking at getting a Vintage this year and will be doing a test ride as soon as we're past this worldwide virus (stay safe everyone), but can anyone tell me how different the Vintage rides and handles compared to the Springfield - around town and on the highway? I know the rake is different so I'd just like to know ahead of time what to expect, especially around town. Thanks

    • @RebelRides
      @RebelRides  4 роки тому +3

      The rake is now the same on 2020 models so will handle the same. 2014-2019 CV models have the longer rake like mine. Town riding is less agile but you get used to that, highway riding is better for me because it feels more stable at speed. It's a personal preference I suppose. Good luck!

    I found your 7/23/2019 vid today- on 11/21/2021 and find your 10 points useful. I'm from Lynn, no not England, but the States. I heard that prior to 2017 there were lots of problems with the Indian Vintage; tho I'm checking a 2014 Vintage 'well cared for', 8000 miles, for $13,500.oo .So tell me, is that a fair price because I find Kelly Blue Book values it @ $10,865.oo., NADA @ $11,415.00., J.D.Power @ $8,400.00 to $10,400.oo . So, what say you? It's either this 2014 Vintage or a new 2021 @ $20,499.oo plus a 900.oo surcharge. (...isn't that surcharge a bit rediculous!)

    • @RebelRides

      No issues with my 2014 model. Some had issues with the tan leather fading. That's all. 2017 euro bikes were underpowered, sorted with a stage 1 kit. If its been regularly serviced they should go on forever, such an unstressed engine.

    I've just acquired a 2016 Vintage. It is yellow and white. Part of a batch of Vintages sent to the dealer only primed ready for the dealership in Sturgis to paint them (Dimension Custom Paint and Body). No one seems to know what the yellow paint color is though so that's been challenging to find touch up paint.

    • @RebelRides
      @RebelRides  3 роки тому +1

      It's good. Depending on how you ride you're looking anywhere between 160 and 240+ miles. On a fast, twisty road you'll be looking at the lower range. On a long motorway at constant speed on cruise (especially if cruising at 70) you'll get well over 200 miles.
      Packing, not as good as a Springfield as the bags aren't lockable. That said, I tend to use the saddlebags for heavier gear and throw my clothes in a big roll bag over the rear seat (now a luggage rack on mine).

    • @RebelRides

      Well, those owners tend to be the ones that don't look after their bikes. I've been caught out in bad weather but I try to clean it as much as possible. If you don't look after any bike it'll fade. I've owned Hondas that I've used as a commuter mule and that looked wrecked with rust after the first winter. If you look after your bike, your bike will look after you is what I say.
