    This video reminded me to check my lotto numbers. Not a winner, but this bike definitely is a dream bike for me. I love that color too.

    I just stopped by the Indian dealership yesterday after work to look around and I gotta go back Tuesday to finish up some paperwork and I’ll have a Chief. 2018 new and I’ll be the first owner. She’s a blueish grey and itl be the first bike I ever owned. 42 miles total and she ain’t killin me. 17,500

    As for the heat coming off the engine & cooking your legs, there are >air deflectors< available aftermarket from Amazon & others. I ordered a set & they do help greatly in reducing that discomfort issue. Mine, a 2014 used, suits me just fine & real easy maneuvering, turning, etc in spite of the 850 lb weight. My 1969 Honda 450 was easy handling, so I wondered how I'd be able to manage this Indian Vintage, but I am not the least it disappointed. OH, did I say I hadn't ridden since 1970? YUP. so it's true what they say. "It's just like riding a bike., once you get the hang of it, you never forget." AND by the way, I got sticker shock when I went into the Indian Motorcycle Showroom & got the price of 21grand plus surcharge of another 900 smackaroos. That convinced me that a good used one would do it for me. 4/2022. Adding front&rear bumpers, backrest, rear crashbars, TPM gauge, GPS gauge, cupholder, small front handlebar mounted leatherbag for who-knows-what. Already has tan leather saddle & sidebags. I try to ride incognito, but even when I stop to hit a restaurant or view the scenery I get those admirers with nothing but compliments. I think it's a keeper.

    It took me a few minutes to warm up to the Chief Vintage. Of course, I had just gotten off the Scout Bobber when I rode that one so I had to complete change my mindset. While I still preferred the Bobber, that one had it's advantages... primarily comfort and low key cruise-ability. The suspension was perfect for what it does.

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  6 років тому

      Hit cruise and take a nap :) That suspension was really good and you would never guess that thing weighed 850lbs either.

    I Love my 2019 Indian Chief Vintage, It is a great motorcycle and the most comfortable bike I have ever owned and I have owned a few, There are some negatives with it though, First there is an issue with the gear selection switch/neutral switch, I just had the recall done on mine for the second time and so far I think they got it fixed, And the second thing is the windshield, I get bugs & dirt that go underneath the chrome strip on the shield and unless you go through the hassle of taking it off each time, it is very difficult to keep clean, I love my whitewall tires & spoke wheels, But also they are a hassle to clean, But other then that it is a great bike and I love it.

    Would have liked to see a walk around before you rode, but I have to say I love your videos because of the bad roads (for one thing). Living north of Houstin, thehighwaysand freeways are in gori ke shape and I need an excellent suspension, nothaft ing ridden since the 70s. I have just started looking and dont know what I want, but that bike appeals to me greatly. Thanks so much!

    hi enjoyed the ride, had a 2014 Roadmaster had to sell, now looking to get a 2014 Vintage, was wondering if you know if the ride is similar, just minus the weight of the trunk. also found a Vintage 2014 for $9000 only 6000 miles,,

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  4 роки тому +1

      The ride is actually more comfortable on the Vintage as it is a bit more raked out at 29 degrees, but it truly makes it a more comfortable machine, just not as quick in the corners, but that's not a problem.

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  5 років тому

      From Indian sadly no, but there are other companies that do make locks that can be added to them. I have even heard some getting the universal locks from Harley and installing those.

    • @SebastianWoodard
      @SebastianWoodard 3 роки тому +1

      @@RabidHedgehog so you can’t have Indian install their remote lock and unlock saddle bags?

    • @darrellogden2796
      @darrellogden2796 Рік тому

      Yes. You can swap to the hard bags with locks. The wiring plug is already under the side covers and there are punchouts in the console for lock switch AND heated grips. Tge Vintage wiring harness is identical to the Roadmaster/Chieftain harness. Everything is already there and the computer is already programmed. You can use either RM/Chieftain/Springfield hard bags or aftermarket if the plug connector s match. You will have to change the fender spools to the larger spools that support the hardbags and there is an underbag support that sits on the exhaust slipons. You can either change to the different alipons that already have the bag supports welded on or make you own hard plastic bumper that mounts to the bag bottom. Both have been done.

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  10 місяців тому

      They actually do make some stunning colors still without the flat colors. The Springfield (non-darkhorse) retains the flowing fender lines as well as the Roadmaster (non-limited and darkhorse). The Roadmaster itself comes in a pretty stunning Spirit Blue over Silver Quartz and the Springfield a lovely Bronze Pearl over Silver Quartz.

    I know this video was from over a year ago, but I have been considering a Chief Classic (same bike minus fringe), and my girlfriend wants to start riding with me. I want to start going longer distances (build up to SS 1000). Would this bike be adept to two up? Shes a bigger girl, and I'm not exactly small either. I would love to hear Mrs. Hedgehog's opinion on the back seat, but I see you don't have a two up ride on this bike. What are your thoughts?

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  5 років тому

      I could get out there and make a video with Mrs. Hedgehog for passenger. The Chief frame is still a good touring platform and has great suspension and ability to go the long distance.

      @@RabidHedgehog If you could, that would be amazing! My girlfriend is worried about being comfortable on the back, even with a sissy bar. She wants something with a touring pack, but I don't want to jump from a Iron 883 to something the size of an Ultra. I'm short and small and that would make me too nervous, I feel the Chief would be a good compromise.

      @@RabidHedgehog So you still have good taste and like manly things lol. I was just generalizing but, sadly, a lot of male millennials have been feminized to the point where they have lost all their male traits. I am older but men in the 50s 60s and 70s just seem more manly to me they all loved bikes fighting in sports and fighting in real life. They also loved bikes and beer and smoked which also increases testosterone. They also had deeper voices and were mostly conservative type men. They drank smoked and swore and did not take any crap and were very patriotic and not politically correct at all and did not care what anyone thought and were very proud of their culture and history with no apologies to anyone. These men never had to worry about losing their culture or country as men today we are losing our country and men today do not seem capable of stopping this from happening.
