    I love the various 'grains' LOL. Seriously, I play Vokey wedges. My 60 degrees is the 'L' grind at 4 degrees bounce and my 56 degrees is the 'M' grind at 11 degrees bounce. I live in Arizona, and we have very hard, tight lies. We have to attack the ball with a shallow, sweeping technique so there is very little or no divot.

    V grind, peak bounce mid sole, high *bounce angle* (ignore ‘effective bounce’) will help so many people.

    Grind is such a personal thing I've always hand grinded mine and sometimes port them thing is you need to dynamic fit wedges I prefer a S grind old school so u can open face but still have available bounce a hand grind can save u 5/8 shots per round if done right. Good video though 👍

    Hi Steve - I have a question - in the 'M' grind - great you've explained the grind in the heel - but why would there need to be grind in the toe as well - (my guesses are (a) it might be to give you the option for a closed face as well (b) it might be to balance the weighting ???)

  • @tonyleigh5517
    @tonyleigh5517 7 років тому +5

    That is a big help, Steve. Just a question, please, how should grind be chosen for a digger vs a sweeper, or is that more to do with bounce (or a combination, because now I see the two are somewhat related). Thanks!

    What grind would you use if you kept the club up right and relied on the loft of the club. Would you just use a more lofted wedge or loft and a certain grind. Hope this makes sense love to hear your answer thanks

    Fantastic video but what grind is best if you play it with hands ahead and square face ??

  • @twodrop
    @twodrop 6 років тому +2

    Good video Steve. Got a question between the M grind and S grind, which would be most versatile for a player opening and closing face and moving hands back or forward to crate loft? Does the S work well for this or is the M more suited for both? (this would be for a 60degree). Thanks!

    What grind would you recommend for someone who likes to frequently hit lower chip shots by using some forward shaft lean, but more of a sweeping angle of attack? Would you recommend a grind with more bounce or something with more relief on the leading edge?

    Id use the P grind in that situation. Ie a putter . No chunking or skulling through the back. It's great... until you've got to go over something like a bunker. An idiot proof lesson for that would be appreciated. Cheers Steve. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    Hi Steve, I am a recent subscriber. My wedges (Cleveland RTX4 10 degree full bounce) are mostly worn on the front half edge of the iron, and there is almost no wear on the bounce (60 degree has a bit more). I tend to sweep more than take divots. Do you think I need a different grind? Thanks. Love your channel!

      I don't lie the club back, but only open the face when hitting short lob shots with 60 degree.
