- On 9/12/2011, GSC Gameworld announced closure of its studio. This studio developed pretty much the best first person immersive simshooter series ever made.
I truly hope someone capable will hire those talented developers, buy Stalker IP and continues development...

Stalker > Fallout 3. Stalker has better atmosphere , better shooting system and better storyline and even though bethesda had like 20x amount of money spent on fallout than gsc spent on stalker i still think stalker has much better open world.Fallout is generic and after 2 times of walkthrough i dont want to come back and play it again and i keep going back to stalker after 3 walkthroughs because its atmosphere calls me back =)

Tbh I find Fallout an interesting game and its lore, even to this day I'm playing all of them,along with S.T.A.L.K.E.R, there really shouldn't be people comparing them, but your points are valid...I find Stalker's community better than Fallout's though...
also stalker are designed for pc and have pc interface and controls Not like Beths games(newer ones) who are made for peasant's controller.

hdolf aitler cause bethesda had more money invested in advertising than GSC had in making stalker idiot. its all about the budget.
One of the most haunting and memorable games I've ever played. And all the atmospheric mods that later came out made it even creepier. I've very rarely had genuine frights from a game and this has been one of them. A legend among the best titles out there.
This is my favorite post apocalyptic game. These games are gems IMO.

Stalker had such an amazing atmosphere. It was truly a horror game.
It was a horror , comedy and thriller
My most favorite series. Nothing will replace it.
The Horror is thick, visceral, and ever present. You'd love it.
I like CoP most because it is the most open, felt most immersive. Those three zones are huge.
And recently I got SSD Crucial M4, which makes everything much smoother...fantastic upgrade.

I actually started playing CoP first, but people suggested I play them in order so I went back and played SoC and I still like it better because it feels a lot more atmospheric, even if the game itself isn't as polished or well presented.
Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, Call of Pripyat.

I said come in, don't stand there. GSC are back Stalker.
Depends on your GPU, but with SSD you can never go wrong. Loadings will be much quicker, there will be less hitches/stutters and your work in windows will be much more pleasant.

I'm playing it from start in 2017, its still awesome! :D I mean the whole experience, it is much harder then modern games, it has the "soul", it is GREAT. :D
Fallout if my favourite franchise ever (Fallout 1/2/3/NV), but Stalkes is very close. Incredibly immersive and fun game series. You should definitely play them.
It is singleplayer only, which is why it is so good.

@IggyHazard The music is vastly underrated in Stalker series. I never really saw it mentioned anywhere, but it is huge part of the atmosphere of dread these fantastic games posses. I hope they will keep the composer.

I think Vostok Games will eventually bring the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series back, but right now Survarium is what's going to show whether its worth Keeping the development of Stalker 2 or not with Survarium being free to play MMOFPS so donate if they ask for donations!
Big companies squander their money in advertising, motion capture and voice acting.
While the metro and stalker devs, even with their limited capabilities, focus on providing and enjoyable GAMEPLAY experience.
Steve Blum with that accent is hilarious.
SoC was easily the best, IMHO. While the later games had better features (repairs/upgrades of weapons, artifacts harder to find..), it was much bigger and much deeper.
CoP was just too damn small and short (and zero story). The end was 'its over'. Where as SoC had a long struggle to survive once you left the warehouses area. Then the hard fight to the end once in the sarcophagus was great.
Just get the sleeping bag mod. It was the one concession I made. :D

Awesomon best is shadow of chernobyl, but call of pripyat is also good. I personally didn't like clear sky very much. Remember it involves walking around alot.
I dunno about the laptop. Best to run on a computer.
How could publishers not realize the potential of this game series.. How could they not....
While I love how open CoP is, I still say the immersive parts of SoC are more immersive then any of the other games.
Lake Yantar and travelling to the brain scorcher the first time (I played SoC last year) made me feel uneasy like no game ever has.
I'm not saying CoP is bad by any means though, it's excellent, but SoC slightly edges it out in atmosphere IMO, especially the ambient music.
afaik, it´s a pure single-player game, like fallout but not as apocalyptic, since it happens around chernobyl etc.

I believe it's a new game by people that were at one point part of the GSC Game World company.
Call of Pripyat. And regarding mods, I recommend playing without first, then with.

technically stalker's IP can't be bought from GSC. the universe they built wasn't actually theirs, but based upon a book. so unless you directly copy their version of the universe, stalker can continue, hence stalker online.
LOL I love how the military is going on about "No stalking!" like they were the ones who caused the fall of GSC or something.
But given how fraps(or similar in-game recording software) forces a HHD to operate in ways it was not intended it would seem a SSD will offer me the greatest improvements in loading times across multiple applications. Especially STALKER. Also STALKER SoC( in my opinion) is the best STALKER. But if you simply cannot stand not being able to repair your guns then make sure to get the STALKER complete 2009 mod for Shadow of Chernoybl.
A new stalker is on kickstarter by the old stalker devs if you all didn't know.

TempRawr You can't make a "fake" kickstarter. You could sue for that. They didn't make any disclaimers that they aren't the real team, so if they are lying then I'd love to make a lawsuit.
Well they have "apparently" have some members from the old dev team but they are saying the team was so big you couldn't happen to remember any of them. So like they are people who worked for them but like for super short apparently.
There's a lot more controversy on them but yeah they are just way way way tp secretive and hype. Seriously 50k for a game that in their words is in pre-alpha and yet they have no in-game footage to show. Absolute bull
I think there is a multiplayer. Never tried it though, but in the menu there is an option for it. I guess its just team and ffa deathmatch. Also, there is a multiplayer section in the control settings, for example "activate artifact".

Well obviously SSD will not improve framerate, but it basically eliminates stuttering. And Stalker games stutter quite a bit on normal HDD. Plus much shorter loadings and much faster reacting windows also make SSD worth it.

If you liked Stalker you should checkout Survarium.
It has former developers from GSC who started a new company called VOSTOK games.
Its a new surival MMO with FPS elements.
This is complete mod right? How did u enable the head bob? It looks good in these videos, not like vanilla which is way too exagerated, and complete takes it out entirely, I thought.
Lets start our own server or something! Though i have no idea how it works. There are some videos here in UA-cam about it, seems like your regular multiplayer-filler in great single player games. Still, you never know for sure until you try it.

Yeah but Escape from Tarkov is a multilayer shooter. It's nothing like exploring Zone by myself at 3AM in the morning.
but the community could be unique once the toxic Cod munchkins give Tarkov a fortnight, then get back to their primary obsession.
If popular It could give suits good reason to do a bit of IP resurection of the kind all us Stalkers wanta see - didn't DAYZ (fucked up as it was) tell 'em enough about public desire for this kind of experience.
......And, just imagine those dank "Shadows of Chernobyl" in full VR!... :o

I'm not a fan of ultra realistic guns in games. I mean shooting mechanics. When I was a kid I tried play CS 1.6 and it was so frustrating. I wasn't able to shut a guy that was 10m in front of me.
But Tarkov looks so interesting that I may give it a shoot.
I played all 3...excellent games!
In my humble opinion, CoP was fun and enjoyable but too short and dull stroy sadly ( still allot of fun!)
SoC was an awesome expirience and t was amazing too
but by far the best is CS,for some reason it is...I cant explain it but I had the most fun in CS without losing the challenge

nahhh bro CoP is bigger and better. And it gives us the feelin' of being a real Stalker like fight for our own survival in an abandon factory, lookin for some rare artifacts or hunt for some mutants, earn some cash, buy some guns, and go on with our daily day. We have to eat when we hungry, and work hard in order to have better gear to do other tasks. XD

yes, game is scary. atmosphere in game is beyond imagination. you definitely have to play it. remember that quests are very important, so play as many as you can. check every corner and every dead body. first stalker has many different endings. fallout is good game but it's nothing compared to s.t.a.l.k.e.r.

I heard a lot of the so called experts attributing music almost magic, miraculous properties.
I like music, but definitely you can't time-travel like in a time machine, or maybe we will be able to do so in the future.
Imagine warping to the moment you first listened to that particular song, in flesh and bone. That would be awesome.

I only use Stalker Call of Pripyat Complete (google it).
Never tried any other mod, this one is good enough for me.

Nvidia GeForce 9600 GSO:| But it is the end edition 768MB one...lol. But given my 5 year old SATA HDD and quite bad loading phases in STALKER(no prefetch does not help and fraps just kills the FPS in anything over 1280x720) think I'll go with the SDD next. Thanks for the advice and vid:)

Shadow of Chernobyl first, Clear Skies second, Call of Pripyat third, but CoP is a prequel. You can play them in any order though. CoP is the best.
