I heard someone I work with that said Jonathan Kent is a clone of Superman that Lex Luther made...can anyone confirm or deny that? I have watched all of Rob's videos on Superman Rebirth and found no evidence for this claim.

I feel like that Post Crisis/Pre-Flashpoint Lex and New52 Lex share separate aspects of Pre-Crisis Lex. Post-Crisis Lex was as evil as Lex Luthor could get, he was manipulative and sadistic, New52 Lex started out a bit like that but is now a lot more heroic. Pre-Crisis Lex was manipulative but his good side showed from time to time especially in the Bronze Age under Elliot S! Maggin's writing.

He said was going to take some time and figure stuff out because there were lots of problems... The fact is that the video he made was full of errors, because DC is hyper complex where as Marvel really isn't... and there are concepts that we really don't have words for that are present in the DC universe that you have to account for... And when you state something, because you think you got it figured out, well it may only be true for a short bit of time or only in certain contexts... like Superman is the creator of the DC universe... but so is the abrahamic God...but it's really the Source which is the abrahamic god, but not the same one as the other one I just mentioned. There is the fact that the universe? dies and restarts and this is separate from the big bang which also happens... And then there is the problem of major continuity errors that have to do with minor aspects that should be major aspects like there in the New52 there is the Justice League and Superman who are said to be the first Superheroes... but then there is an African Superhero group that existed 20-30 years ago... Asnd not to mention the story that they are pressing now which is that The New 52 is the same multiverse as pre-new52, but edited to remove 20+ years of history which noone knows existed but some people do, because they did actually still happen ... they just aren't remembered...
Or you can look at things like Wonder Woman who has been rebooted like 80 times in the last 70 years... or Nightwing who continuously gets retconned... Seriously, it happens so much to Nightwing I'd use that for the Watchmen edit history arc, because then it would salvage that comic series... It would explain why after every writer writers their last issue with Wonder Woman or Nighwing everything they wrote is retconned in the next issue pretty much. It'd make for an excellent explanation that those are Manhattan's early attempts and use them to explain a lot of random editor mandates through things out or in which messes up the story/characters...
So where exactly does the 3-joker theory fit in to all of this, or has that idea been tossed out altogether?
Beats me. It came out of DC during it's extremely stupid era...which we're still in.

Rob don't forget Superman and Lois had Chris Kent aka Nightwing. They had adopted him when they found out he was child of General Zod. So Lois and Superman took him as their own son. So Lois and Clark did have a son and he was worried like he is with Jon.

When Superman was first published in Action Comics he was drawn wearing wrestler's trunks. Wrestlers were popular performers in 1938 and they wore trunks so Superman was drawn wearing wrestler's trunks. History!

Eh hem- Remember... you've done the video too- when Supes was being held by I forget who and they made him live his life on Krypton as if it hadn't blown. He had a wife and a son and there was whole thing when he told his son he had to leave. It was made emotional as hell and Superman was so pissed when he came out of it. I wanna say was Brainiac but you know.
I love Superman but I'm happy the red undies are gone, they worked for a while but it just got silly after a while. But yeah Superman is finally Great Again!

No it's just an outdated look, not just for Superman but for any superhero who still wears them.That whole 1940s silverage strongman look was way past due for an update,even the S on his chest has been constantly updated again and again over time, DC realized this and got with the times. Batman got rid of them, Wonder Woman's modern looks is perfect the granny panties and bathing suit look she had was very sexualized and less superhero/amazon. Part of picking a comic book is the visual appeal, Superman visually looked like a comic my dad or grandparents would pick up instead of something I'd pick up. Marvel started updating looks and it worked out fine for them, for a long time DC stuck with those "ICONIC" looks and they just looked stale. Sports uniforms, police officer uniforms etc are all update and renovated to a modern look it's just part of staying relevant.

@@daraghokane4236 ik this is late but second wave feminism isn't a thing any more if we stuck to the basic origins of characters we would have a Superman who can't fly, a Batman who kills, no sidekicks, poorly defined villains, bad storytelling, no black characters that aren't characatures, and no strong female characters in the first place.
@@godspeed2272 yes second wave feminism is still a thing and even if it isn't this is a fantasy let's pretend it is. Superman could fly in golden age. The lack of black characters is because during the silver age a head writer of DC was pro segregation and told the staff not to have any especially in story's set in the future. Wonder women was made to be about sexual empowerment she should be sexy. And the underpants make superman look less intimating more approachable and make bizaro look more deranged and off putting. Superman doesn't look like a nice down to earth farm boy without the underpants he looks intimating and unapproachable

This is honestly why I am loving Rebirth right now. Things such as the dynamic between Superman and his son or Superman and Lex Luthor. They change things up in a way that hits the chords of the old fans and introduces amazing new concepts. Concepts that do not require nuking the past just for the new stuff to exist.
So yes, I love that Lex Luthor is a good guy now just like I did with Agent Venom in Marvel. Yet sadly this vision makes me shake my head just like I did with Marvel. As it seems to be putting Luthor back into the same old slot and shows other things going back even further. Yet I do not even remotely want another pointless death in comics like Supermans son. Just so it can shock me. I am sick of it they play that card every other week just so they can return to the same ol. Nor do I want the typical Luthor dynamic back.
This new stuff is what I want and for once I want it to stay more then a few damn years.

It would've been way awesomer if he looked into Superman's future and the guy says something along the lines of, "We were right to destroy you, you're a far bigger threat that lex luthor" and then they fight to the death that leaves superman wondering what he was talking about and sets the plot up for something way bigger.
