I completely and wholeheartedly agree. The communist ideologies mixed into the novel were rather confusing indeed. When I was at school, we had to read a tonne of books and there were rewards. You had to write reports that actually required you to read the books. But I found a loophole!
You would choose your book, of course nobody wanted to choose poetry... but if you did, all you had to write about was your most and least favourite poem. And of course that's subjective. So I would pick a poetry book at random, 2 poems at random, read only those, and write a bunch of nonsense. All to high praise

    What I would do:
‘The Outsiders’ is a great novel for all readers and has an action-packed story. It’s marvellously-created introduction grabs the reader and brings them into the vast world of the book. The main character has lots of conflict between good and bad and has to fight to save him/herself and his/her friends. This book is appropriate for all readers and I seriously recommend it.

Because even if you're not exactly where you wanna be in life hopefully you have plenty of it left to do whatever you wanna strive for (unless it's nefarious then please change your ways. Lol). Also MOST people really don't wind up EXACTLY where they wanna be in just 10 years after high school, so being honest may help break the ice loosen up the convo some since you likely aren't the only one that feels that way. Lastly if you have friends that will be at said reunion link up with and maybe hang out, and if you're single talk to some ladies, gents, or whoever while you're there.
