Something that probably gets overlooked by a lot of fans is just how important it was for Hotrod to be at Lookout Mountain. If he wasn't there to spot the Decepticons, they would have successfully invaded Autobot City, and the slaughter would have been a lot worse, as there would have been no time to activate the defenses.
Very solid point. The Decepticons were already winning the war during the series and by the movie, the Autobots were on the brink of defeat. Laserbeak's infiltration damn near single-handedly cost them the war. The little warning that Hot Rod gave kept the Decepticons from taking Earth.

People shit on hotrod but really he had great battlefield awareness, he saved Kup, he recruited the Junkions. His getting in the way of optimus was a mistake but Optimus should have shot through hotrod. Hotrod used his insight to see what megatron was up to and attempted to thwart his deception. He had great battlefield awareness. Hotrod gets a bad rep and it is undeserved.
@@Cyril29a That last point about Optimus is what really frustrates me when people put the entirety of the blame Hot Rod for his death. Yeah, he could have handled it better than getting in the way, but this isn't Micheal Bay's Optimus Prime. His fate was already sealed when he hesitated and let Megatron beg, before Hot Rod even got involved. Even if it did come down to a quick draw between the two leaders, had Optimus missed or had Megatron managed to dodge, Optimus wouldn't have had enough time to fire a second shot with that heavy rifle, while Megatron (as we saw in the movie) could easily rapid fire with the small blaster. TLDR: 1980's Optimus Prime likely wasn't going to survive that situation regardless of Hot Rod's interference.
I feel like the lead-in to the Deceptacon attack on the shuttle made the whole scene a lot more eerie. Like the cockiness of “I can dodge a few ice chunks.” giving way to that brutal massacre made it feel oddly real in how jarring the surprise attack was.
Mirage is my favorite Autobot and the fact that he was storyboarded yet not shown is a shame. @15:43. Also glad to see why Bombshell wasn't one of the insecticons eating through the city defenses.
This vexes me even more! All of my favorite characters were in the film, regardless if the were deleted, I would still liked to have seen them! Hate when hollywood chops up great movies!..smh
Excellent work; this is great. What I found most striking was the part where Unicron is attacking Lithone and with the soundtrack not playing in the background you are left with just the character voices. For me it was quite chilling to hear their voices alone and all the screams and cries as Unicron is devouring their planet. With the score you just wouldn't have heard all of that, or not as clearly, so that was a revelation for me - and good work on that part. The other bit that I found slightly eerie was one of the deleted scenes. It was the one where Mirage has just shot Bombshell in the back as the City is transforming, with Mirage in the reclining section. As it's reclining Megatron blasts it with Mirage in and you hear Mirage yell. Quite a striking feature. As I've got older I have really struggled to come to terms with all the Autobot deaths in the movie, as well as the ones that were in the original storyboard and didn't make the final cut, that I learned about years later. This movie was a huge part of my childhood and I still get hairs standing on end and pains in the chest watching it, the Autobot deaths now move me in a way that they didn't as a child. But I still love the movie and well done on this video Rogers Stinson - top job. I love it.

In the original first writings of the movie, there were a lot of Decepticons that met their end during this battle. Including tons of generic decepticons
@@MisterR82 I really wished they shown more generic transformers fighting as it would've made the battle a bit more realistic considering EXTREMELY massive size of the city
To be honest, I kind of prefer the shuttle attack theme over instruments of destruction for the attack on shuttle scene. I don’t know, I just find it more suspenseful and gritty to go along with the dark theme of the film, than what the final cut had
I agree, although I wonder if it was the other way around, would I be saying the same thing. Sometimes when things are fresh, they just hit different. But yeah, hearing this new version makes it way more gritty, like you said.

Ok so Starscream’s voice is really annoying. The problem with this movie is some of the voices sound like the people in charge just had some strangers off the street do it. I also hate Daniel. Anything with a kid just screws things up. Also if Spike is Married to Carly where is she in this movie. It would have been nice to see her play a bigger role. I must say the movie has some cool music and amazing animation. I love the dark tone. Even if they did kill off some characters I like that because it’s not going to always be a happy ending.
You might find this video on the Movie interesting: ua-cam.com/video/HgcX9kGUpDw/v-deo.html Even mentions how Daniel first came about as the character wasn't originally going to be Spike's son. As for Carly she likely wasn't in the movie as she was probably still on the drawing board as the first movie scripts were being written during Season 1 before she was introduced/created.
sorry but the occasional added story boards and that odd green blob thing in the intro kinda messed this up for me. Also, removing the iconic unicron medly throughout the first part also messed it up a little. Also why'd you remove the iconic pass through of the "The Movie" part of the title. you also added some music after the scene right before megatron wrecks things on the autobot ship. it didn't really belong. I watched as much as I could but the storyboards just popping up at so many random parts was super distracting for me. :( The added music that is nowhere on any of the TF movie soundtracks through me off a bit too. Not trying to destroy all the work you put in, but... I feel like maybe color the story boards or something? idk or...just don't put them in at all?
Ee. I was working with few resources I could find. I simply used what I could. Also, I reason I used the demo version of unicrons theme was because it just sounded better to me. Also also yes some of the music is not on soundtrack (2 of them from this to part 5 aren’t even from the movie’s production), but that’s because it’s actually from the protoform sessions by Vince DiCola. Also, it is called an extended cut for a reason ( no offense). Also, the green blob was actually a green star.
