In case anyone is wondering, the reason why this episode has so many errors is because Rhino Entertainment transferred the wrong version and Hasbro to this day won't bother to restore the corrected one that aired on TV.
Not so much "the wrong version" as it was the higher-fidelity pre-broadcast masters instead of the lower-quality broadcast masters. Generally this resulted in better quality. But in some cases animation errors were caught and fixed between the pre-broadcast masters and the broadcast masters. Using the pre-broadcast masters means still having those errors. One of my favorite and memorable episodes, and glad to see this again with better comprehension. Dinobots showing up brings a huge thrill and giggle. They were Autobots' ultimate reinforcer in S1 and S2 until reduced into a comic relief in most of S3. There were the usual animation mistakes, but the kid in me ignored them by immersing again to the nostalgia.

I can't believe they put up the versions without the corrections. So far Hasbro Pulse is just a joke. Their marketing and advertising is terrible. Pre-order Toys turn up god knows how long after they are in the shops. They really do seem to be terrible at everything that they do.
What a series. Great writing. No woke bs. Prime and Megatron are strong leaders. Starscream, Ironhide and the rest are great characters. Prime isn't weak like in Netflix series. This show was such a phenomenon when it came to air. Now, looking at the modern entertainment and it pales against this even with all the animation errors. Voice Acting was superb. Every character sounded different and had distinct personalities. Starscream actually stood up to Megatron to his face which provided some of the most memorable scenes in any cartoon. The music rocked too. What a frigging show.
"Great writing" No, lmao. Fun and enjoyable episodes, G1 has, but good writing? Nah man, the creators of the show literally said they prioritized action and selling toys over story/plot.

I'm a bit confused on something. I get that Megatron gained Starscream's clusterbombs and nullray, Rumble's earthquake strike, Skywarp's teleportation, Reflector's flash attack, and Thundercracker's sonic blast, but if ALL the Decepticon's contributed to the strength transfer, then what did Megatron gain from SOUNDWAVE?
There was supposed to be a scene where Megatron used Soundwave's mind reading power to predict Optimus' next move and block it, but it was cut from the final episode.
I love that moment of Soundwave Petting Ravage, He really does care about his Casettes, Amazing! ^_^ also, I love that moment after the Battle is over and Optimus is too weak to drag his own Trailer and Huffer offers to take the load for him. Maybe he's just worried that if Megatron takes everyone else's powers and uses them to defeat Optimus, then he (Starscream) will never get a chance to overthrow him.
Megatron's a punk. Using the rest of the deception's powers to defeat prime. Smh. The decepticon's besides starsscream should've also had doubts about his leadership. Talkabout dumb deception's. Foolish followers.
19:20 “Ugh... sorry about that.” - Ironhide. I never understood this part. I had this episode recorded on VHS as a child and watched it many times. Never figured it out.
You couldn't tell? It was a "blink and you missed it" moment: Ironhide punched that stalactite in anger, and then apologized for losing his cool. Timing and placement was off in the shot, tho.
I had some slight hope the original cut of the episode would be shown. I really wish I did more to retain the copy I had of the old rental store's fhe version.
Reportedly, the masters of the 1980s U.S. version were not 100% intact. But I remember reading several years back about a UK release of Season One. IIRC, the episodes themselves were comparable to the U.S. broadcast versions in the 1980s. However, commercial start/end bumpers were wrong almost constantly. What I wouldn't give for someone to hack the U.K. versions and U.S. versions together and reconstruct the broadcast versions this way. I never got my hands on the UK releases, and I have region-free hardware that allows me to view DVDs from both the U.S. and the United Kingdom.
The Maverick UK versions do have the corrected episodes thankfully. You can still get them preowned online. I bought them at the time, but I do see them pop up from time to time and they are worth having. I need to check the remastered set now to see which versions are on there as I can't remember. All of the other UK, US and other versions I have are all the non-corrected ones so those Maverick ones are very special.
@@trailersic they only released season one though and actually messed around with the opening and closing sequences on a lot of those episodes. I had most episodes of season 1&2 on Vhs which l got rid of when l first bought the Dvd boxsets..before l realised what they'd done to the episodes on the boxsets.
Best I've ever come up with to make these mesh is that Megatron just built new bodies for them in the caverns instead of actually creating them from scratch. Kind of like how the Combaticons would later get new bodies for their personality components.

1) More intelligent robots
2) Combiner technology
Animations have be simplified to keep costs affordable to produce the program. It's particularly apparent that low cost Asian animation companies are used with most animated children's programming. CGI wouldn't become affordable or commonplace for television programs until the mid-90s.
19:12 no wonder Dinobots tend to despise Optimus 😂
4:31 LOL Cliffjumper's goofy smile always gets me
20:30 Optimus shot directly at the enemy’s scrotum! It’s super effective! Devastator’s balls are his weak point!
Wrong Devastator, my friend…
Starscream opposing to Megatron's cheating was hilarious
9:00 that maniacal laugh.....so iconic....

Seriously...their are literally not that many bad guys that are that clever and creative today...and the same can be said for some of the heroes.
It’s breaking the rules, dude

Prime: Autobots! Hold your fire!
Cliffjumper: 😃

Useless information, but I remember from the 80's that the actual toy of Huffer could tow Optimus' trailer :)
I'm glad that carried over to Earthrise Huffer.
Starscream: 3:41 Forgive me but i believe your boast sounds vaguely familiar. 😏
Me: Wait uh hold on a minute that's not starscream! 😳
They been hearing megs boast and brag for millions of years
Once again thanks to Wheeljack for making the Dino bots! They make great guard dogs of the Autobot base! 😂👍🏼
*LOL, that works. Salute!*
The purple and light green color collocation became one of my favourite when I first watched this episode.
Considering the stakes for the human race, Optimus should never have agreed to those terms no matter how sure he was he could win.
Heavy Metal War Hands down is epic as heck i remember having the tape for this and Revenge of Bruticus
I love Dr. Smoov's version of this episode.
I can't watch this without hearing Optimus Prime yelling "Take this, Fuckatron!" LOL!
Thundercracker, pull a rocket pack out of your ass and give it to Optimus Prime! lol

For me, this is one of the best episodes of season 1. And what a way to end the season. To say this went out with a bang would be an understatement.
Megatron claimed to have built the constructacons but in season 2 omega supreme said that they were his friends on Cybertron during the golden age.
I noticed that too.
Yeah, 80's cartoon tend to mess up some things, even disregarding past episodes and making episodes showing another origin.
And then they were shown creating Megatron himself in season 3’s premiere.
@@shadowdramon01 I actually forgot about that one
I love how Scrapper addresses one of the Constructicons as Scrounge. The full version of this that Chris Mcfeely made with the deleted scenes via the extra dialogue recordings and storyboards is amazing. If you haven't seen it, find it and watch it!
Got a link?
Yea seen it its, awesome. Chris's Mcfeeley, has a brilliant channel, highly recommended. 👍👍👍
Wow...that was 37 minutes of pure awesomeness I didn't know even existed!!
I have all of season 1 on dvd. The errors aren’t on it
@@itz_jacoby3 then you’re lucky to have skipped the Rhino release
Ironhide transforms the wrong way 10:04. He gets it right at 15:23, good job Ironhide.
Ironhide - my bad
The first couple of seasons of Transformers Gen 1 (and the 1986 movie) are still the best.
18:19 the formation of my all time favorite Decepticon. DEVEASTATOR!!!
I love how in this series, construction workers actually try to fight back. In the first episode, the guys on the oil rig immediately start throwing things, and in this one, that one guy just rams the Constructicons with a vehicle.
😂😅 hey wait a minute 2:33 the land vehicle Constructicons can suddenly fly?!🤣😁 also 12:17 Skywarp is literally now Starscream's twin🤣🤣
That's the last time Megatron managed to defeat Optimus even with cheating. In S2 Prime had Megs running for his money.
it's not cheating if you win.

7:38 Put this in a Transformers Out of Context video.
Better yet, put this at the beginning of said video. 😂
One of my favorite and memorable episodes, and glad to see this again with better comprehension.
Obviously then, I only care about action sequences, although I had a hint Megatron cheated for imposing for Decepticons to give their powers. Visual animation speaks louder.
Dinobots showing up brings a huge thrill and giggle. They were Autobots' ultimate reinforcer in S1 and S2 until reduced into a comic relief in most of S3.
There were the usual animation mistakes, but the kid in me ignored them by immersing again to the nostalgia.
21:33, this reminds me somehow of Arnie's terminator 2 final scene.
I love the Autobots, especially Wheeljack. A scientist, engineer, and inventor, whose creations are sometimes inadvertently more dangerous than the Decepticons!!
One of the greatest lines ever, it’s bad news, scrapper they brought out their heavy artillery and it’s time we did the same only heavier
*Indeed! Hook~ "Its bad news Scrapper! They brought out the heavy artillery." Scrapper~ "Then its time we did the same! ONLY HEavieeeer." I'm so glad I grew up in the 80's with the REAL ish here as opposed to the effeminate, watered down, buck cherry bs they're pushing now. I wont even mention Michael Bay....ish blowing up all over the place for no reason, smh.*
*Where we are today vs then is soooo sad, so much so that it can't be ignored. For instance, I can't help but notice how most Millennials~(or worse their offspring's), who watch this episode often only notice Soundwave petting Ravage....and they go and on about it. It was cool but d...!, smh.*
*Most of them don't feel, notice, or even comment on the actual highlight i.e. the Dinobot's facing off against Devastator, or say Rumble pointing to himself after Megatron uses his power. That goes right past them.*
*Their highlight is Soundwave petting Ravage. I feel like John Kreese when he saw that boy wearing a shirt that read "The Future Is Female!" Now, and in the words of John Kreese....."Jeeesus Christ!"*
Anybody else get the feeling the scene of Megatron coming out of the lava was only added when the series got renewed
One of the best episodes. Brings back so much memories.
Yeah this was 1 of my fav as a kid. I must have watched this like 100 times or more. Now that I am an adult & watch this I realize so many plot holes in this episode. I can't watch things 100+ times now like I did when I was a kid.
This appears to be the version of the episode with the ludicrous amount of animation errors. Well that’s kinda unfortunate.
I can't believe they put up the versions without the corrections. So far Hasbro Pulse is just a joke. Their marketing and advertising is terrible. Pre-order Toys turn up god knows how long after they are in the shops. They really do seem to be terrible at everything that they do.

Soundwave could be a good librarian.
Optimus Prime: No, Megatron! You will not have to fight all Autobot Powers at once, just me!

It was a golden age before the wokeness.
Here, here
I wouldn’t say it’s better than some of the new transformer shows but it certainly is great
The best
"Great writing"
No, lmao. Fun and enjoyable episodes, G1 has, but good writing? Nah man, the creators of the show literally said they prioritized action and selling toys over story/plot.
4:36 that canon really blasted a shock out of Wheeljack. 🤣
Best Transformer episode ever I love how the constructicons and Dinobolts had a big battle
Did anyone notice at 12:14 how there are 2 Starscreams? Also when Constructicons go to Autobot headquarters. Mixmaster creates a big hole 🕳 in the floor right in front of the monitor of Teletran 1 @ 16:28 you think it would be noticed by the other Autobots that returned to base @ 19:20 ? lol
As a 90s kid watching reruns of this, I thought "Why didn't the Dinobots combine?" but years later I was looking up Transformers and found in Transformers Victory, was the Dinoforce who did that. Also their combined forme was voiced by one of my fave actors Daisuke Gouri who I went on to teach myself to do his voice.
Man those commercial bumpers are pressing the Nostalgia button hard..smdh! God is was great being a kid in the 80s. We didnt have much, but yet had all we needed at the same time.
3:41 Starscream looks like Kylo Ren.
This episode has a dark and dramatic tone that i felt even when I was watching it when I was kid
Even if the construction workers failed at stopping the Constructicons from stealing the Energy Discs, they at least tried to do something. Lol
construction workers, oil workers, etc are always so brave in this show lol
Fantastic episode. I hope they post season 2 as well
Edit: They did!
12:12 😄 Thundercracker briefly becomes Starscream. I loved watching these episodes after school in the 80's
People griping about this being the rhino versions instead of being thankful for these episodes being officially available online finally 🙄.

Anyone finding it hilarious that Starscream of all mechas was worried about “illegality?”
12:16 Starscream has a twin
19:20 “Ugh... sorry about that.” - Ironhide. I never understood this part. I had this episode recorded on VHS as a child and watched it many times. Never figured it out.
You couldn't tell? It was a "blink and you missed it" moment: Ironhide punched that stalactite in anger, and then apologized for losing his cool. Timing and placement was off in the shot, tho.
@@JoseBronxRican That was my guess, but was never sure!
I think Ironhide farted and was apologizing for the smell
@@JoseBronxRicanI always thought it was because he was trying to help the Dinobots and defy Optimus but that makes more sense. I barely noticed it lol

I wish the decepticons could win just once.
Yes me too..l wish I'd kept all the episodes I'd recorded on VHS back in the day...we'll never see this series how it actually aired ever again 😢
@@TF80s Well... unless you pay a couple of quid for a maverick dvd.

Megatron said they build the constracticons in those caverns.
Episodes later: story of Omega Supreme and how the constracticons betrayed him.
Best I've ever come up with to make these mesh is that Megatron just built new bodies for them in the caverns instead of actually creating them from scratch. Kind of like how the Combaticons would later get new bodies for their personality components.
