Interesting take, I generally agree on BIM not bringing significant value to clients with the caveat that it could if used correctly. I think the biggest thing in the way of BIM is Autodesk and its propriety file formats. A good example of digital modeling done better is in the GIS world where Esri's shapefile is allowed to be used outside of Esri products allowing for technological progress in GIS as a whole.
