This video does not explain the principle, so I will try to explain one: This is NOT a buck converter, there is no inductor here. This is using Push-Pull Half Bridge topology using IC SG3525 that is widely available. This IC responsibles for generating Inverting and Non-inverting alternating PWM output for those two MOSFETs on heatsink. The two MOSFETs responsible for delivering the "push & pull" current for in the transformer. The transformer is using turn ratio of 0.375. Using transformer at "full duty cycle" the output voltage is input voltage times 0.375. For example, if the input is 72V then the output will be around ~26V (this is if both the MOSFETs have ~50% duty cycle). The output is then put on feedback into the inverting pin No. 2 of the IC. The duty cycle adjustment (shown in oscilloscope in this video) is only for one channel while the other channel is kept near 50% duty cycle. If the input is 72V with the "full operating" you get output of ~26V but if the duty cycle of one channel is reduced to around 23% instead of 50% of it then you get roughly 12V in output. The blue mini-trimpod that you see is for this duty cycle adjustment. By the look of the MOSFET chosen IRF512, this can only handle at maximum 8A (4A for each MOSFET). Ideally this should only be used for 5A or less continuously and with additional fan. Based on the transformer ratio 0.375 the minimum input voltage should be 1/0.375 x 12 = 32V. Input for lower than 32V will not be able to reach 12V output (it will output less). Note that there is a difference in winding of the transformer. The push-pull topology is using transformer winding that is slightly different than the typical transformer. And unfortunately it is not shown in the video. Note that there are THREE terminals on push-pull in primary side of transformer and are connected to one to the Anode and two to the Drain of each of the MOSFET. The output winding is also complex and the video does not show it properly. So I think if you are beginner or don't have experience in making push-pull transformer, you will find it is near impossible to create this converter by just looking at the video and schematic because of this transformer winding issue that this video does not give enough detail. If you are beginner I suggest you just make a simple BUCK converter first, if you need a buck converter that can go up to 100V then you just need to separate two buck converters in series: a buck that convert 60-100V to say 35V, then step it down again to 12V.
Homemade 102 i mean fix point at 12v then can step down to 2v and step up to 24 v it’s buck-boost converter and have current limiting , rang is 2-24v and input voltage is 12v, can you do it ?
High mate, I need a answer as soon as possible what changes i need to do to make it for 36v or 35v instead of 12V ?? do i need to change the number of windings and zener diodes ?
@@PhdHung When making version 2, please make variable input from 10 or 12 volts to 72 volt variable input, your design is good but i working voltage source from 12 volt input, i am ok, if the output voltage is less than 12 volt DC if given variable voltage from 12 to 72 volts DC how much maximum input ampers it can handled ? @@Royd20 Well, it's not possible. The circuit is a buck converter, ie it converts the voltage DOWN, not UP. What you ask for is a BOOST converter, which does the opposite.
Iie warmest congratulations for this very very interesting and safe project I will try to make it happen. I await the latest version with the control of the output current, who knows it could be made for 50A. Then I wanted to ask if this circuit is good for powering electronic circuits because I don't see any inductance or capacitor in output for filtering. Well come on I'm sure the next version will be TOP. Congratulations again and to the next video. 😉😉

I tested it. Maximum efficiency is 90% at 48V input. 15V output - 20A. Efficiency will be lower at other voltage levels. Minimum of 78% at duty less than 10%. The mosfet is quite hot.
@@PhdHung Those IRF512 FETs have a huge RDSon ! Most of the video is watching assembly. No current indication at the end though it looks like a 55w headlamp bulb which is only 5A, not sure if that qualifies as 'high current'? As you're stepping down the voltage I'm not sure why a transformer is being used, unless isolation is required otherwise a simpler buck converter would have been more appropriate, surely?
What might be practical? Also, I had a populo 8amp that I noticed had 4 prongs of which 4 were active. On the nakto camel the battery is 2 prong. Yet the recepticle accommodates 4.
Can i direct connect a recharger? And can I run while recharging? Or would this over amp? Sorry so many questions but people out here have no idea and it looked like you might.
