I think my 'last mow' was today (chopping/picking up leaves, then striped)... all I can say is that the Blackout PRG1 is pretty remarkable. We have had just about zero rain here in NJ for October- my lawn has done its best to stay as darkish green as it could, while everyone else's lawns immediately went dormant about a week into the drought. The only yellowing/gold might just be the Stovers KBG that I mixed the Blackout into. I have some areas to touch up next spring because of early day sun patterns, and lack of rain... but the stuff is really really good! It's been keeping itself 'well' strictly from the morning condensation, while dealing with a few frost events. Didn't bother watering mainly cause growth was slowed down and our town does shame residents for outdoor water use during drought periods. Great stuff and can highly recommend!
Thank you for the video Jesse. Because of YOU :( I keep getting random people asking me IF I can do their LAWN LOL :) My Blackout seed is starting to POP and I cant wait til it fully grows in. Great Lawns for LIFE...
That looks so dark for being so young. If I didn't have kids I would want to do a full renovation vs. an overseed! I have some ideas for the leaves I can share with you. I'll shoot you an email and see if it helps at all! Thanks for another awesome video!
I have 6 large trees around my property. I bag while mowing and then dump the clippings on the main lawn in a small pile. Once i'm done mowing, i set the mower to mulch and go over the clippings multiple times so the pieces are like 1/4 of an inch. I then set the mower on bag and vacuum the clippings into the bag. I use the mulch around my evergreen trees. Amazing fertilizer for the evergreens plus extra organic soil which I use on the lawn.
I use my Worx leaf mulcher bucket thingy. Blow all my leaves into a big pile and shovel (snow shovel) leaves into the bucket with a bag sitting under it and it works wonders. Mulches like 20 bags worth into 8!
Jay’s yard looks great, imagine what it would like if you started a few weeks earlier. He owes you a few beers lol. The Blackout 2 looks insane. Eager to plan for the 2025 overseed project. Will Blackout 2 also come in TTTF? I have seen a few people using Blackout on my local LCN page on FB. Keep spreading the word. The results are truly awesome.
He already brought me over some beer lol. There is a new TTTF coming as well that I've kinda been keeping under wraps until next year. It is definitely super dark. I appreciate the support Nelson!
Is it only cool weather Grass I live in San Antonio Texas and it pretty much gets pretty hot right now. I have fireball and Hattrick growing in my yard right now since it’s starting to get a little cool.
The blackout and blackout 2.0 looks incredible. I live in the transition zone and currently have Bermuda in the front and nothing in the back. Would I be able to use either of the Blackout grasses to seed our back? Thanks.
I did 😂!!! I'm in SC and my backyard is Blackout Rye and KBG....flourishing right now too!! PS: proper irrigation is a must in transition zone if you tryna grow rye or KBG....
@GLDFNGR yes but certain factors are ideal for success ..as my man above said, TTTF would be better in transition.... what helped my situation through the summer heat was shade from trees in my backyard and irrigation..... the rye and kbg will struggle in transition zone heat without completely ideal circumstances (shade, good soil, water (KBG needs ALOT in summer), thick turf, absolutely NO herbicides after April).... it takes alot to grow and maintain those two grasses in 90 degree heat....I know spring is possible with this grass in transition because I've done it, but I only do fall overseeds now because it's still best to do it in fall .... will save you headaches later...
@@lawnlifevlogshope you video their removal so we can see if the current wings that provide lift are destroyed! Then you’ll know that new hi-lift blades will make a huge difference in avoiding blockages to the grass catcher.
Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An update. Damn grass grow faster. Hahahah I signed up for order notifications, but damn it I don’t check my email often why can’t it be a text. Hahahaa
Haha. I'll be sure to announce it on my channels man. The weather here has sucked lucked it's either low 50s or mid 80s. The grass doesn't know what to do lol
I have a ton of Shade in my yard, maybe 3 to 4 hours max sunlight. Always assumed could only do Tall Fescue because of it. But I see you have Rye in shaded areas, can the blackout Rye handle a lot shade?
Don't go with prg if you've had issues with fungus. I'd go with the kbg or tttf. Prg is notorious for being tough with disease compared to the other varieties. I haven't personally had any issues though that could be different for you
We have very humid weather here and I didn't use one fungicide all year. Had a tiny bit of red thread that didn't cause any issues. All was fine. The TTTF has 4 different cultivars from the McCarthy farm that's known for their dark color. Weren't put into the nteps

Unreal! Blackout 2.0 will be my future overseed project . I want that dark color, love it!
Agree 100%
It is!! I was thinking , Darker than the Green in your Pocket!!! So use the Card!!!!
It's even crazier to see if person. Video doesn't do it justice. I'm kind of shocked to be honest

Wow! That is so dark green! I am getting for my overseeding next year
Hoping this is available next spring. This would be my seed for overseeding on top of hatrick and fireball.
It will be available for pre-sale next spring. Wont ship until late August/Early Sept I believe. Have to wait for harvest
Holly Molly, that grass looks amazing!!!
Jay's yard looks great. What is his HOC on the TTTF?

Does not sound like a bad process at all!
@@malisha1 do a similar process, but bag and then dump into a trash can where I use my weed eater like a blender! Works like a charm!
@@robertlark10 I see grass clippings and leaves as a product. If u throw it out from ur property the energy used to produce this product is wasted.

Will Blackout 2 TTTF be rhizomatous?
@@josephevans6982now that would be a game changer. If they are as dark as they are now or darker!? Man!
What is your recommendation on bare dirt renovation for tall fescue. I went with 10lbs and I thought it was too thick. Thanks!
This release going to include hatrick or another cultivar? Chance we can get pure fireball 2.0 seed?
Deck is looking good too!
Thanks brother!
Gunna make sure I grab a bag of this dark dark grass!
Let's go!
@@lawnlifevlogs don’t know where you are at but wondering how well this seed will do in TN. It looks really good
Hello, that color is amazing!!
So the Blackout 2.0 will be available in TTTF in the spring of 2025? Correct?
Hard Frost and Heat Stress in within a month’s timeframe sounds crazy!

How well does that rye hold up during a hot summer?

I'm glad it worked for you, but i'd suggest the TTTF for most people lol
I would go with the blackout TTTF for transition zone. You're gonna be battling heat non-stop with either bluegrass or rye.

Jesse! Amazing vid.. What's the shelf life of grass seed? If I buy now for spring will it still be good?
You have a good 2-3 years if you keep it in a cool dry place before it starts losing germination!
@@lawnlifevlogs let's goo! 🔥 Stoked!

We can pile leaves on the side of the road in my town. Then they fall behind picking them up, and the leaves just blow back into the yard. Good times!
Hey at least some of them get picked up 😂
Please tell me the names of TTTF and KBG and if available as a mix ratio (7a / Maryland)

I have a slope down to a swale in my backyard. In the spring, would you over seed with blackout TTTF or the BG/RG mix?
Personally I would not. I would just use the kbg/rg blend we have.
For the contest does it have to be blackout?
So… you’re telling me I thought I just seeded the darkest with the blackout, now there’s a 2.0? Next time… 😂
I have a ton of Shade in my yard, maybe 3 to 4 hours max sunlight. Always assumed could only do Tall Fescue because of it. But I see you have Rye in shaded areas, can the blackout Rye handle a lot shade?
Yes blackout prg does surprisingly very well in the shade. Way better than my top rated kbg
I need to find a place to plant this.
Crazy dark on the 2.0!
Insane to see in person. Video doesn't do it justice
How is the disease resistance on blackout PRG? I always have problems with fungus.
Don't go with prg if you've had issues with fungus. I'd go with the kbg or tttf. Prg is notorious for being tough with disease compared to the other varieties. I haven't personally had any issues though that could be different for you
@lawnlife, thought you had a rotary? The one that can go low, that you were using on your front yard?
I meant I wanted a rotary without the drum on the back to be less invasive. The mower I used is a rotary technically
I know you're down by the cities, I'm in Duluth. What was the date this was filmed?
Yesterday
Question is the perennial blackout 2.0 for shade also or just sun
The original fireball did great in shade. I would assume this would be close to the same since they're related. But I haven't had a chance to test it.
It is dark, but it didn’t score well for disease. No way it will work in a humid area. But the fescue is looking good! What’s the cultivars?
