While I love seeing your finds while you mudlark, I have to admit that I love seeing your cats the most! Especially "helping" you with your upcycles. This one is fabulous, with special meaning.
Simon is not only a history teacher, he is also a muse! I am always inspired from your creations Simon. Your transition from a graphic artist to a fine arts artist is seamless! I bet you have a lot of collectors ❤
On a vacation trip to Tortola , part of the Virgin Islands we stayed at a rental home. On the wall was a mounted sword fish the owners placed a full set of dentures in the fish’s mouth. We all had a good chuckle.
Great day! How sweet of you to show Roman Found around your usual spot. Such lovely girls! I think they truly enjoyed themselves and each found something she'd been looking for - lead type and clay pipes. You had some outstanding finds - that brooch is so special! As you said, literally one of a kind! And the minim is exciting! Good thing money isn't tiny like that any more! I'd be broke in no time with coins that size! If you dropped it, it would just disappear! Even with those great finds, I think my favorite of the day was the milk bottle. I can see it all cleaned up with a little bouquet sitting on a kitchen table or bedside stand. Loved your metal sign! It looks just perfect hanging on the wall of your shed. (Garage?) Whatever the building is, it's a gorgeous color and the sign shows so well there! As a bonus we got to see BOTH Nelly and Daisy! Have a wonderful week, Simon!
that bounty of type face was a real haul. Love the sweetheart brooch. The engraving is still so crisp. The idea that the Thames could actually freeze is amazing to contemplate. Wouldn't that be something to see. Good luck in finding out more about it.
I have to say that as much as I enjoy watching the thrill of the hunt, I could watch your upcycles all day long. Maybe you could do a compilation of your upcycles video?
Beautiful up cycle Simon! Love it 💜 this actually looks like an old piece from many years ago! I can’t wait to see your next project ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜💜 I also loved the video of everyone’s finds. That was the best day with Roman finds, I watch them whenever I can. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Awesome day out Si. You have the coolest friends! The history you share is always welcome. That skate 'IS' cool, thanks for explaining the joke though... dad...😏 The up-cycle is wicked cool!! As was last weeks, I didn't have time to comment.. As always, thank you for sharing your time and your adventure... etc...👍🤟🪡🎨
Great finds, Si! Loved your enamel upcycle sign and thanks for sharing the Frost Fair history!!( Complete with parading elephants!😳) I really look forward to your larks, history and artistry!! TY
I remember watching mudlarkers on thames on youtube 15 years ago, rarely heard police, fire, ambulance 🚨 sirens. Now you hear them all the time on different mudlarker videos. Found that sad. TIMES sure have changed. Sweetheart brooch was a romantic idea. But many must have turned to mourning brooches during world War 2.
That skate was a fantastic find. Beautiful statue of the goddess. What a lovely brooch. Good lord, what a tiny coin. Your upcycle was awesome, loved it.
Hello from the Southern US! That sign upcycle is AWESOME!! Love your videos and the history you share with everyone! Have learned so much since watching you!
it never ceases to amaze me what u find in the mud. the sweetheart brooch could be the inspiration for so many different love stories. that metal sign was so beautifully aged - great up cycle.
Yeah, it is Si - Fi Sunday! Lovely video & great finds. Live the ice lessons, that was really fascinating. Upcycle was epic! Always love the Nelly & Daisy cameos!
I just had to comment Si, the players navy cut logo brought memories flooding back to me! My mother smoked them for years and I remember many times (as a child in the 60s) being sent to the corner shop to buy ‘a packet of English players please’!!!😂😂 I’m really showing my age there😂. Thanks for the memories 😃
Simon, that was an awesome compilation sigh in honor of the York! We have a USS York here near me. And it, I believe is a sister ship to the HMS York. Both ships served with great honors. I love the sign. Great job. It looks like it was always supposed to be that way!
Si, great find of the Ancient Roman coin!!! AND, thank you for bringing the Roman Finds women with you 😊. I was so impressed with how lovely they were that I plan to Subscribe to their Channel ❤! Cheers 🍻 👏 ✌️!
Hi SI, I love your upcycle. It looks awesome. Even where you hung it. The ladies were lovely. I do believe you brought each other some luck in the muck. Till next time….Joyce from Connecticut, USA. ❤️🙏🇺🇸
You all had some really good luck that day! That sweet heart brooch somehow is sad..you have to wonder what the story was..love all the typeface you guys found..maybe the legendary "Dove's " that was chucked over? VERY cool skate and sign SI!! Great to see you!
How did you make those stencils…..is that the right word? Probably not, but still it never ceases to amaze me what you come up with to create your artwork!! Love watching the process! Take care Si….❤️❤️
That up cycle was first class! Love the history about the frozen river festivals that took place. Simon do you ever find anything that would have come from the festival of Britain? I know it's not ancient history but it is fascinating history all the same. It fascinates me that they built something so modern, clean and futuristic with some of the days top designers, who's work are still popular today, and to think that it was all torn down just a matter of months later for what seems to be be political reasons. It would be fun to find something that comes from that festival as it's just as interesting history, well it is to me anyway. Have a fan day! 😊
Well done SI. and the young ladies were a good addition to your video. The skate blade you found are often seen in Canada at garage sales or antique stores. Waiting for the next video and hoping the weather warms up in the UK.
That sign you made was brilliant 👏 and a fitting tribute to both the ship itself and the sweetheart broach, proper conversation pieces. Really really 😎 🆒️
Hey,nice video, with Lucie and Ellie aka Romanfound. They are dedicated to proper history videos, and do it so well. And,like yourself, and Chill Bill, and Digger Dawn, and frankly, countless others, you all inspire me to metal detect! Just over a month in,I have found nothing but rubbish,as I live in an old industrial town, lots of beer cans and bottle caps, screws and wire, lead fishing weights. Not a single Roman coin here in Ohio,USA. Whyyyy?? 😂
Nope, not a single coin here in what I assumed was the far western border of the Empire😂 Found a “little Caesar’s” cardboard pizza box. Please tell me that counts!🙄
Enjoyed the lark with the girls, everyone found a treasure, maybe not the false teeth! 😳 😂 The Roman always amazes me!🎉 Love the broach & the history along with it I appreciate! Your upcycle was absolutely incredible!! 👏🏻👏🏻
I thought the Codd lamp was my favourite upcycle, but the HMS York sign has just beaten it! Fantastic work. I'm jealous of the Roman coin too. Living in Hertfordshire now gave me an interest in the Romans. I want my own coin!! 😍
You must have the sharpest eyes to have seen that amazing little coin, I can barely see it in your hand. 😻 I'm glad Ellie found some lead type and Lucy's chompers win for most bizarre. @RomanFound🦷
Your Roman coin was a fantastic find and i love the sweetheart brooch, Your upcycle looked great, you have a great eye for design and you totally transformed that battered piece of metal into something so wonderful.
Just amazed once again at what you find on the Thames. That mini coin!!! First how you even spotted it. Then to think of the age. Now, I am thinking, how did the romans carry their coins? They wore sheets for cloths. How did they hid and carry money in the day????
