The cast iron thing that looks sort of like an animal with the serrated head is a coconut scraper! Why it's in a London river is mysterious; maybe lost by someone from India who brought their favorite food prep tools with them to the UK. But if you google "cast iron coconut scraper" you'll get lots of similar examples.

Yup looks like the coconut scraper my mom used in our Filipino household.
A good idea might be to bring a strainer with you for next time, one where you can pour the contents of whatever into it, then gently lower it into the water, and shake off the silt and mud.
I've seen folks here in the states do something similar

When you first brought the paint out I thought oh no you’re going to ruin those badges, but you put just enough on so you could read what the said and no more, brilliant work that was. And putting them in a shadow box like that to display them in was just what they needed they looked smashing, nice bit of art work to hang on the wall.
The item on the bunch of keys is a universal key for intercom doors to a blocks of flats. Usually held by postmen or firemen.

That thing with the tesco fob on is known as a fireman drop key it's used to open doors you see in flats and lifts

Elevator key. Used by maintenance and firefighters. The key is inserted in a small hole in the door, then rotated.

The title didn't say anything about magnet fishing, so it was a pleasant surprise, I LUV me some magnetic fishin'!!! WOW, he found one plate of his own, after he moved into Si's area (not much to celebrate imo...hehehe) Brilliant call on using the black paint to fill in the grooves and make the letters pop, an AMAZING shadow box Si, you are awesome!!!

Enjoyed this video Simon and happy to see that the water is getting a cleanup. I especially liked the boat permits. You did a wonderful job on up cycling them. Sam will no doubt know more but to me it would be for grating coconut to make coconut cream and coconut milk or to use as is in cooking.

15:50 it’s a thing for grating coconut. Used in india and the islands still they are an incredibly practical and handy tool.

Great group collaboration. Wow, those plaques are fantastic finds. The hexagon one is really nice. The coconut scraper is a really interesting find. Wouldn’t expect to find that in London. Aww, the safe had a awful lot of mud but no goodies. A bike ride too? The upcycle of the plaques is marvelous 👍

Si, the shadow box Idea for the boat plaques was a terrific Idea, It looks fabulous in that beautiful white new looking shadow box and the plaques are Thames recoveries with the heavily rusted/corroded edges on them. It's a great look and highlights their age and their durability from being submerged in the river/ canal ranging from 99 to 108 years! You should have no trouble at all selling that if you decide to. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome finds, love watching your channel. A while ago you asked what could be making a square hole in a shell. Well a woodpecker makes a square hole in a tree for it's nest and I think maybe a seagull or crow could possibly be making the square hole in a shell with it's beak to get to the food inside.

The steel item with the flexible end on the ring of keys is an elevator door opener. Turned with the right angle portion on the opposite end

That key is used by postmen and fire service to enter electronic entrances on apartment blocks . By the intercom there is usually an hole that it slides into.

I reckon that iron tool that looks like you brace it with your foot is a coconut husker. It's very similar to wooden-framed ones I've seen, but with the same round jagged bit at the business end

Great haul 🥰 You know whoever dropped his bag of tools in must've been beside himself! That mud that came out of that safe was some of the gloopiest stuff I've ever seen in my life. No wonder the eel made his home in there.

My two cents in. 😎👍 That metal leg contraption your friend picked up. Looks like a carpenters helper. Slide under drywall to use your foot to lift up flush to the ceiling when tacking it up.

I want to thank you Simon and also the rest of the "gang" of mudlarkers and bottle diggers that you join up with regularly. You guys and gals have no idea how much you've helped me over the past few months. Binge watching your uploads, as well as a 2 other mudlarker UA-cam creators, has gotten me through a very rough patch in my life. Being able to follow along and immerse/lose myself in your adventures, has really helped me heal and get my mind off of what's been going on and, still is to a certain extent. I just want to let you ALL know, that I love each and everyone of you.
I would have loved to be able to come to the UK and do some mudlarking and bottledigging. Unfortunately, I checked and the port authorities are not issuing any new permits for the Thames Foreshore. I'd love to "park" my butt along with my dog and camping gear at a remote tip/ bottle-dump and stay there for a week or, more! 😉Oh well, one can at least dream.
