"Energy retention in a dogfight can be a bit of a problem" is the most British understated way to describe that joyous feature of my delta wing friends.
i find the lack of energy retention to be better than having it at jets on 10.7 and up, the increased turn rate helps when gunning down targets that maneuver less, and then just pitch down and recover the energy (obiously dont smash the S key on a furball tho)
When the stock missiles update came, the Mirage IIIC actually got the R.530 stock, leaving a funny situation that the R.511 is a much worse missile that has to be researched
I really did appreciate Tim pointing out ATTACKER AIRCRAFT flying with full AA loadouts. It's almost as if having all aspect high capability missiles against flareless planes is a very stupid design choice 🤔
I really wish all aircraft that can face competent missiles could at least opt for a countermeasure pod underwing. It's just not fun to get Aim-9L:d by an A-10 and not be able to anything about it
G'day Tim, Ahh it's grand to see someone finally mention using the SEPR 841 kit, It really does make the Dassault Mirage III are fun aircraft to use as an interceptor & tbh the pulls I've done evading high G all aspect IR's is downright crazy. You could probably take the two inner wing pylons for CAS duties or stopgap flare pods, which is one thing I always found. Colour scheme wise, the RAAF skin looks gorgeous, but the Venezuelan one also looks great, but for some reason, even though it is shown in these clips, the afterbuner colour is slightly different & pulses.
Also other note. The Mirage III, especially as you have largely been flying it, does have flares. Just not rh variety you can detach from your aircraft. Instead, it relies on one MASSIVE flare to boost ya!
I had a lot of fun with the IIICJ on Israel tree. You get the r530 and 2 shafrir 2s stock free so basically a full competitive load already, stock grind was a breeze especially with the new BR
I still remeber the time, when everyone was super happy and hyped for Mirage, and it had the most OP missiles in war thunder, and flares werent even a thing back then.
Actually pretty curious about the mirage my most flown plane is J35 Draken with close to 500 games. Got slightly over 1:2 KD on it I think too (might have dipped below, sometimes you struggle a bit these days without flares. Generally it’s fine though, but high speed turn got nerfed to much to out turn a 9L. You could do it before) Mirage as a felt swing should be similar. I love flying planes like that so I think I’ll really like it. Like this is my most flown planes: - J35D (like mentioned above) - mig21MF - mig19S - swift F7 - f86f2 - F5E - F8E - saggitario (got an insane KD on this of like 1:10 but largely because it was pretty crazy when added)
Really hope we will one day see the mirage IIIng and ex, the mirage g, g4 and g8 and the mirage delta V to get the whole mirage family oh and the mirage 50 and IV and hopefully one day the exocet mussile
Flying the Mirage is a Go/No Go Engagment Birb. If you commit to a fight, it is full pot. But when you commit, well. I agree entirely with your assesment on the plane and so do the men in the middle east that used it.
I'll get to it eventually, but I'm holding off on any Israeli vehicle reviews until the current situation over there settles down a little. TBH I just don't want to deal with the comment section...
Do you have a custom skin for that afterburner? It looks really good. Also, in simulator, the Mirage 3C is an absolute nightmare for the enemy team. I was using it with the rocket booster and fuel tanks as an interceptor to shoot down the zombie bombers during the F-14 IRAF event (I regret nothing). It helped me finish the event really quick.
Amazing vid!!, did not know It still in service, wow!!. By the way, a bit of a noob question: which keybind do you use for rejecting the IR missile lock?
The English Electric Lightning was technically a faster and earlier Western European jet, but being from Britain myself, I'm happy for continental Europe to be a separate category.
It may have been "technically faster" but the Mirage 3 was the first to break mach 2 according to Jane's Information Group. In this context "Western European" basically just means Non-Soviet.
>On 25 November 1958 the P.1B XA847, piloted by Roland Beamont, reached Mach 2 for the first time[35][36] in a British aircraft.[1] This made it the second Western European aircraft to reach Mach 2, the first one being the French Dassault Mirage III just over a month earlier on 24 October 1958 Technically wrong haha
I love this jet, though the E is a tiny bit less frustrating. Good video as always tim. A tip from my experience. When you get the center line radar missile, pick up the habit of jetisoning it if you get into a merge with a hostile. It'll help you with the energy retention and the mirage f1. French radar missiles are chonky bois. Better drop them than drag yourself down.
I’m not sure about you but I get uptiered pretty much every game in this thing so without flares it is useless against all the r60 slinging mig 21s. The second they get a side/rear aspect shot you are dead. Which sums up this br, uptiers means you are straight up food for most planes, at least that was the case when I last played this plane
@TimsVariety you can explain the best plane or tank to use in each tier for the best grinding and explaining how to effectively use that plane or tank and maybe you can show examples 🙂 I'm really struggling using the ja35xs as I need a better way to grind thank you 😊
Probably one of the worst jets at its tier. Gets constantly uptiered to fight overpowered premiums like the J-7D, A-5C, and A-10A. Everything it fights has countermeasures making your missiles useless against sentient players. Delta wing means a single turn costs you all of your speed.
"Energy retention in a dogfight can be a bit of a problem" is the most British understated way to describe that joyous feature of my delta wing friends.
British?
*slaps top of roof
This baby can turn so hard you’ll see in 4 dimensions.
It will just do so with the efficiency of the Russian military
the enjoyment of delta wing is overshoot that's it simple
With enough thrust even a delta-canard doesn't have to worry about that
i find the lack of energy retention to be better than having it at jets on 10.7 and up, the increased turn rate helps when gunning down targets that maneuver less, and then just pitch down and recover the energy (obiously dont smash the S key on a furball tho)
I got 1500 hrs in this game and just figured out Mirage III have a booster
When the stock missiles update came, the Mirage IIIC actually got the R.530 stock, leaving a funny situation that the R.511 is a much worse missile that has to be researched
Mirage IIIC is honestly my favourite French jet, especially for intercepting ground pounders in ground battles. Thank you for the review.
I’ve not played M3C, but do have the M2K which is unbelievably good fun at 12.3.
Omg?! Is that mirage 3 video i see? I think mirage 3 was first video i saw on that channel
Yeah, I posted recently, a small number of my early vids are going to get re-done up to my modern standards/format/year.
Le Dorito 🇫🇷

In this case it's perfectly fair. You can take the 10.7 III E with flares, or be a chad and raw dog it with the C.

I love me some rocket booster!
I'm glad this one got a re-review! I've been considering grinding france (mainly for this, from historical value) so this is helpful
Don't waste your time, it is completely garbage
Also other note. The Mirage III, especially as you have largely been flying it, does have flares. Just not rh variety you can detach from your aircraft. Instead, it relies on one MASSIVE flare to boost ya!
Rocket pod
Grinding the french tree for these and the F-16AM
Another cracking review from Tim; great insight into the pros and cons of the aircraft as always. Thank you!
It was my first top tier (when IIIC was top tier), it felt so good to fly and I still come back to it often
Nice landing, Tim!
Thanks Tim !
Great review as usual, and I was very pleased to see you used the RAAF colours !
I had a lot of fun with the IIICJ on Israel tree. You get the r530 and 2 shafrir 2s stock free so basically a full competitive load already, stock grind was a breeze especially with the new BR
I think the Magics are worth the extra grind overall though
I still remeber the time, when everyone was super happy and hyped for Mirage, and it had the most OP missiles in war thunder, and flares werent even a thing back then.
Oh gosh, yeah this thing absolutely DOMINATED back when it was brand new.
The lack of flares tends to be why I prefer the IIIE but the IIIC is still a fun plane to fly
This is the best thing I ever saw.
I used a single rocket pod as poor man's flares when grinding with this one

I commend the livery choice!
I always love a good airshow skin.
I'm sure if I had speed I could do some pretty impressive maneuvers too

Ideal fighter to Ace Combat 8. 70 years of Mirage III and Mirage series in 2026.
"We have Delta Dart at home"
do the kfir canard, not a fan of the country irl but the kfir canard is VERY, capable

Not using any customs in this vid.
Mirage is rough right now with all the crusaders
Dorito superiority better than all the other weirdly shaped crisps (yes not chips mate)
this is waay better than F4C at 10.7
Bro got the turn on an f4u wow
Amazing vid!!, did not know It still in service, wow!!. By the way, a bit of a noob question: which keybind do you use for rejecting the IR missile lock?
I mentioned it in my air to air missile guide, you just hit the keybind for lock target a second time and it will de-spool the missile.
@@TimsVariety Ty for the help!!, keep the vids Up!!
It not having flares completely ruins this plane imo, it's a massive shame
Attack the d point!

I know you mainly talk about air but any chance you know why the strv’s don’t get gen 2/3 thermals?

I just fire off the radar missile early hoping to slap someone afk climbing lol
VENEZUELAN SKIN LETS GOOO (i love the Mirage IIIC)
Fantastic plane, goes for all Mirages.
This plane is overtiered and gets clubbed
One of the most enjoyable early supersonics to play in my opinion
One of the absolute worst

I abused the 10.0 Crusader for the event and got mostly downtiers, was a great time
Fly low, wait until you're under the radar missile planes, fly up vertically and launch your 530, nearly guaranteed kill as they never see you.
Awesome review! Worst part about this plane is that it’s French 😔
I wonder why why it don`t have RWR in crap tunder. You can even see it in cockpit

Yeah it absolutely slaps. The Crusader is still the best 10.0 but I'd put this second.
