- Опубліковано 15 чер 2024
- In this video we are replacing the original latch from our 1973 Airstream Land Yacht Safari. In an effort to restore a door, we are also installing a deadbolt in our all aluminum door and a door stopper before putting it back together!

OUR STORY
We're Meghan & Matt, two travelers from the United States on a journey to travel 1,000,000 miles! For 2 years, we lived in our self converted van and traveled all over North America! During this time, we caught the travel bug, HARD. So we set a goal to travel one million miles! Now, we’re hiking, biking, driving, flying and even training around the world to discover as much as possible! Recently, we sold our van and packed up our lives into bags and boarded a one way flight to Europe, leaving behind no house, no car and not even a house/car. Now we are embarking on our toughest project yet, renovating a 1973 Airstream!

Patch looks sooooo good
Looks good, feels good 🤙🏼
I can’t wait to get into the building phase 💪🏼
Hell yeah brother 🤘🏼
That new lock looks tiiiight
Keeps the door tight that’s for sure
I love you guys! You’re hilarious and so persistent and creative! You’re giving me the courage to restore my own hunk of beauty!! 🥰
Thanks so much! You should do it!
@@Meghanandmatt Thanks for the encouragement!! I reeeeeaaaalllly want to, but I have literally no building, woodworking, welding, or restoration experience so I know I’m in over my head! But my dreams are bigger than my current incompetence!😂🤣😅🤞🏼
You can always learn! We started with our van with no experience which gave us the confidence to take on this airstream. I’d say start small and build up!
Rooting for you guys!! Keep up the good work!! Fun to watch your journey. -Evets
Thanks Evets!
You do know that an axe will make an entrance into an aluminum can. 😏😊 I understand the feeling of safety that locks give a person but is it really worth it on an RV? But, cool idea anyway. 😊
If anyone wants to use an axe to get inside we’ll just have a hangry Meghan fend them off 😅
And yes having an added deadbolt on our future home is definitely worth it
I forgot about your backup to the backup system. 😄
How could you forget!? Haha
Hey! What did you guys use to clean that yellow spray adhesive from the fiberglass off? I’ve tried all sorts of stuff but nothing touches it!
I don’t think ours had any yellow spray adhesive for the original insulation. Most of our insulation came right off the walls and we used simple green to just clean up. Did you try isopropyl alcohol? I found that works really well on the black stuff that’s all over the walls
thought i watching scary movie called ANTS, added locks should keep out THE STRANGERS 2008 version
Let’s hope so!
I can't remember which video it was, but you were smearing something in the interior seems.... what was that product? Thanks
Most likely sikaflex 221 on all the seams to prevent leaks
The reality of it is . If you can not afford it dont buy it. Stick with a stick build rubber roofed driveway queen that will fall apart in 5 years.
That sounds like a bad idea
