    Once rinsed down the drain, do these chemical compounds breakdown completely, or polute the water and eventually the environment ?

      That’s why you’re not supposed to dispose of excess color down the drain AND why we have water treatment plants. You’re not flushing it into your ground water. You’re flushing it into an intricate system of pipes that end in a water treatment station where supposedly the water is treated to remove these and other chemicals before it’s released unless you have a septic system and then yup you’re flushing it into your ground water along with prescriptions, pee, poop and household cleaners and other toxic chemicals
