This engine will have these issues if you over fill the crankcase with oil it takes 10 quarts not a drop more. It should show Galway up the dipstick after a drive not idling
It’s called the low pressure turbo and high pressure turbo. Big one is low and small one is high. Would have been easier to disconnect the 21mm oil supply hose than the 2 lines to the turbos. .
What i am seeing is this, 1 or both of the seals are gone in the cartridge of the "Big" Turbo that is why it is dumping oil out the exhaust and and wiped out the DPF. Improper start up and ESPECIALLY shutting down Hot is what killed the seals. You should let the engine idle 2/ 3 mins before shut down. and go easy on the truck when first started. the oil is cold..
You can tell owners What they should do and not Do. You think they will listen. Hell no. They will blame someone else or the dealership for bad labour. But who reads the manual anyway. I'm sure the manual will tell them exactly the same thing about cold engines and hot engines/ turbos.
I have a 2017 Nissan Titan XD with 200500 miles. I am now needing to replace the low turbo. I am not an everyday mechanic but due to no local mechanics willing to work on a Titan I am stuck doing it myself. How in the thunder did you get the low turbo back three bolts out? Any counsel would be awesome….
How you fix it. And what was knocking the engine or the actuator? I have a similar issue where the valve got stuck on the turbo and wouldn’t actuate, took it out and cleaned it now knowing that it had to be reprogrammed and on the test drive i got on it did a massive backfire with white smoke then it started vibrating until it shut off a few minutes later. Now I have a small oil leak behind the crank pulley and it’s wobbly. Is going into the shop in 3 days. It does turn on but you know when is cold is more noisy but I feel like is knocking on the top left side.
I am looking for information on a scan or computer scan. That come used to enter new s/n for injectors to ECM. so I can replace the injectors and cp4 pump on nissan titan xd truck 5.0 cummins engine.
I'm in the market for a titin xd What is your opinion on this engine? Found a couple with about 70k miles. I do construction and allways tow dump trailer. Reason being is the price compared to chevy dodge ford. Btw I'm in Milwaukee
Don't buy it. My XD is at nissan for turbo replacement. Actuator valve is problem. Actual actuator replaced. Ecm died as well. 59k miles and all of a sudden the shit is hitting the fan. Dealer is clueless. My diesel was the first one they ever looked at. WTF
Get a gasser better I have 2 2017 one gas with 69200 miles on it and not a single issue my diesel with 73460 miles I had to replace the engine 10500 for a used engine with 21000 miles. Yeah on my personal experience the diesel engine sucks on this trucks u cannot go wrong with the 5.6 litter gasser since I have a 2006 Titan with 221000 miles on it and all original just brakes and radiator change so yes go with the gasser.
Turbo has to be replaced. However this engine spun the cam bearings so we had to pull the motor and find a new motor to drop in. The crud in the oil lines wrecking the turbos was because of the crank bearing shavings all throughout the system.
@@integritydevelopment5618 Thanks for responding. Great video. I own a titan with only 31k miles, no problems yet, and I'm trying to decide if keep it or not because the engine is out of production and hard to get parts now.
They jointly developed the sequential turbos. $7195.00 list to replace both turbos. You can buy almost any other turbo and pay about 2k for a beefed up one. Nissan should be buying all these trucks back.
